I am about ready to try out the windshield I acquired in my bike deal.

It has the handle bar mounts and the screw type hose clamps that would go around the upper part of the fork.

Question is this. I'm guessing I need to put tape on the fork to protect it from the metal clamp - otherwise scratching might ensue?

I've seen a few without and just clamped to the fork.

Anything else I might need to know? I don't know who makes this shield - no markings. It is on the larger side with protection for the bar ends.

New (to me) red rear fender. Lets see if this works.

Originally I had thought to post this in the For Sale Section so that as time goes on, it would be easy to find, but after reading the rules for that section, thought it might be a violation. If the moderators think it would be better to list it there, maybe this post could be moved to that section? Anyway, I originally posted the importance of using JIS ( Japanese Industrial Standard ) screw drivers for the cross head screws on our bikes, which many people mistakenly think are Phillips heads http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=12665 .

Although Vessel Tools are high quality Japanese product in general, I think the main interest for us would be JIS screw driver bits, screw drivers, impact 980 screw driver, and 25001 hand impact driver. The screws on our master cylinder covers are JIS #2. Both JIS and non JIS are carried by this company, so those that ARE JIS have a light gray JIS logo in the listing for the tool.

The stock grips on my CB are a bit too small in diameter for me, and result in my hands cramping in a short amount of time. I have been considering Grip Puppies for a while, and have watched the Youtube installation videos, using both the soapy water and air compressor techniques. Using the air compressor looks much easier and faster than the soapy water method to me. Has anyone here used the air compressor method, and if so, how well did it work? I also wondered if they get wet, do they turn into soggy sponges?

I like doing clean little mods that do not detract from the original look of the bike. I got to wondering why there is no cap on the left side of the front axle. The front axle is hollow, the right end capped with a nut, but the left side is an open 17mm Allen hex. Being open and hollow all the way through the axle, it occurred to me that water could get into, and crud might build up inside over time.

The closest fraction to 17mm is 11/16". I put a 17mm socket in my pocket and went to the local Ace Hardware. Low and behold, I found some black nylon 11/16" hole caps. On trying them in my 17mm socket, perfect and snug fit! Bought 2 for 69 cents each, one to use and one spare. Went home and installed, perfect fit and very clean looking. To remove, get under the edge with a razor blade and gently pry enough to expose the locking tabs. the locking tabs are directly across from each other ( think 6 and 12 oclock ) . A small flat blade screwdriver on both sides pushing simultaneously inward, gently, releases the tabs and the plug will pull out.

11:05 AM Update: I have to go to work so any other questions about voltages will have to wait til tomorrow. Seems like a bad battery (ive already be inclined to getting a new one) but i appreciate all the quick responses. Thanks All!

TLDR bike tried to turn over at first now all i get is clicking with the starter engaged. battery is fine. bad ign. relay?

Got ready for a short ride before i had to go into work this afternoon got everything in order get on bike and it did the rr rr dead things that vehicles do. Checked the battery, seems fine. kill switch seems to be in working order (though tbh i only know that cuz the fuel pump does its thing when it click over)

only evidence i have is that whne i try to ignite i get clciking. is the ign. relay bad? i pulled it out and nothing seems wrong with the legs, but the fuse itself is opaque so i have no idea if something is wrong inside.

It seemed to stutter a week ago but turned over second try. Yesterday had no problems. wtf?

PS i was going to be bringing into the shop for a valve check and maintenan tomorrow (monday)

Anyone try this wind screen on the Samurider website? It comes in small, medium and large and the angle seems adjustable. I have been using the minimalist Dart Piraña Flyscreen which I like for embracing the wind but would consider trying this one for long tours.

I've been considering a lot of tail/rear fender options for the future of my bike, and i keep coming back to the attached to this post. it's just the coolest/most ergonomic look i can find. Thing is, i Know this image is from samurider, and I know some of the other parts on the bike are from the "fugu" conversion kit, but I can't find this tail piece for sale on Samurider, leading me to believe it's something else entirely.

Can anybody positively ID it?
