Windshield install question
#1

I am about ready to try out the windshield I acquired in my bike deal.

It has the handle bar mounts and the screw type hose clamps that would go around the upper part of the fork.

Question is this. I'm guessing I need to put tape on the fork to protect it from the metal clamp - otherwise scratching might ensue?

I've seen a few without and just clamped to the fork.

Anything else I might need to know? I don't know who makes this shield - no markings. It is on the larger side with protection for the bar ends.

thanks

Sounds like a National City screen. Mine is the NC Street Shield EX and mounts like you say yours does. I did not use tape on mine, just tightened up the hose clamps.

I have used something called "Body Guard" for applications where I want to protect a finish from "clamp marks". It is used on the rocker panels of cars to protect against rocks chipping the paint. It is fairly thick, clear, and self adhesive. You can find it at auto parts stores. A small roll will be about 6 inches wide, maybe 15 feet long. My roll has lasted a long time, cutting off what I need for various projects. Just depends on what you want, as there is nothing wrong with clamping on without a protective layer underneath either.

I made a mistake above. It’s National Cycle, not City. Sorry

My clamps are made of plastic...no scratch on handle bar after 50.000 km/4 years
Hope this helps
