Grip Puppy Installation - 2017EX_imp - 06-03-2018
The stock grips on my CB are a bit too small in diameter for me, and result in my hands cramping in a short amount of time. I have been considering Grip Puppies for a while, and have watched the Youtube installation videos, using both the soapy water and air compressor techniques. Using the air compressor looks much easier and faster than the soapy water method to me. Has anyone here used the air compressor method, and if so, how well did it work? I also wondered if they get wet, do they turn into soggy sponges?

I have them as well...heck you may seen my "install" vid. they get a little soggy but will dry out with no problem at all. they were just the right amount of extra beef i needed in the hands

Mike, Yes I saw your install video...have you seen the air compressor install vid on youtube? Compressor install looked mush easier and faster, so I was looking for feedback on that method. BTW, thanks for the tip on Earpeace plugs. I got a pair and like em. Before your tip I was going to try No Noise ( $30 plus shipping, only 1 filter set, and only 1 set of plugs without the 1 extra for spare ).

I haven’t seen the air compressor video but I will attest the soapy water method was quick and easy. I let the bike sit in the sun for an hour afterward and they were dry enough to ride. Didn’t need much soap either so I’m not worried about when they get wet again.

Thanks! I plan to put them on my ZR750 so I'll try that method then.

I put these on all the bikes I own. Spray some hairspray inside the grip puppies and on the existing grips and they will slide right on and dry. Easy.

I used the same method I've always used when installing handlebar grips on bicycles: A liberal amount of rubbing alcohol on the inside of the grip then push and twist them on. It required a bit of muscle, and you only get about 30 seconds before the alcohol dries too much. But they went on perfectly. No soap residue, so there's no concern of them slipping. Ready to ride in less than five minutes.

Another method is to use hairspray inside them. It lets you get the grips on easily but dries overnight and acts like a mild glue so they don't slip.
