Max just posted an excellent tutorial on posting pictures using imgur and I encourage people to use it.

Posting pics on an offsite location definitely helps the site, saving space on the server, but it does have it's drawbacks. This site is full of great tutorials with I'm sure very useful pictures included that you can't see because photobucket changed their policies. So now those carefully crafted, meticulously illustrated tutorials aren't nearly as useful because you can't see the pictures.

You can post pics here right on the site so they're not dependent on another sites policies and won't disappear but the size needs to be 250 kb or less. Most people don't have the means to resize pictures, those tools usually come with better image editing software. But if you have MS Office you're in luck. It used to come packaged with a very good, simple image editor called Microsoft Office Picture Manager. It hasn't been in Office since the 2010 version but it can still be installed and used. A small search on the cb1100 forum did not reveal a complete method to post pictures, so i thought it may be an idea to do a step by step way to get more members posting starting with how to open an account with imgur ( a free image hosting internet service ).

Click on any of the following pictures to get a detailed bigger view in a new window.



You need to click on sign up and provide the following information;



once complete click on "next";



check the box "i am not a robot"







the next page looks like this;



Click on "register"




You can see your new username in this page now.
As you are now registered with a new account.

I would recommend to bookmark this page to make it easy to find it in your browser.



Hover the mouse over your username in the right top corner and click on "images".



This page opens and click on "browse".



A window opens and you can now go to the folder where the picture is stored on your computer, select one or highlight multiple images and click on "open" or whatever box you normally use to open pictures on your pc.



imgur will now download the image ( s ) and display a progress bar in this page;



Once the images are downloaded the page opens with your image;



Once more hover the mouse over your username and select images;



Your images page appears and now click on the image you want to post;



select the second from the bottom "BBCode" and click on "copy".
The cell next to it now highlights green.

now you can go to your post on the cb1100 forum, put the cursor on the line below your text and rightclick
'paste".

The link pastes itself onto your edit space and should look like this;



If you now click on "preview post" it will take you to the preview page and you can check if all is as you intended.



If all is as you intended to be you can now click on "post thread" and it will take you to your post as usual.

To see the picture in original size hover the mouse over the picture and when the pointer turns into a "hand" click on the picture and it will open in a new window, if you click on that window again it will magnify that part of the picture even more to show small details and focus on the part of the picture on which you clicked the mouse.



This is an economical way to post as it takes a very small amount of storage ( 20 bytes ) on the forum ( which Guth pays for ) as opposed to the data required when the actual photo's ( 12 megabytes ) are stored in the forum server and is a better way instead of posting attachments ( storage ) to the forum, again; less cost to the forum management.

Good luck, it looks longwinded but is actually very intuitive once you have done it a few times, nothing to be scared about, it's only ones and zero's.

Just added a set of Ikon 7610's purchased from a forum member who had sold his CB.

Now, I have added aftermarket suspension to a couple of bikes before the CB, most recently my Triumph T-100. Approx 8-9 years ago I put a low end set of Hagons on the Bonnie with a set of progressive fork springs up front. It was obviously an improvement over stock and it handles much better on the twisty mountain roads I like to ride. As far as ride quality on an everyday road, better but still lacking over bumps and heaves.

After a 20 mile test ride (in the rain) I can say the difference the Ikons make to the CB ride quality is much, much better. I din't get to lean her over much (rain) but I'm sure this will impress as well. Perhaps it's the damping adjustment. Never had a sport bike, or aftermarket shocks with this variable, so I've never had any adjustment to play with. Night and day.

If your running on the stock springs and are on the fence about switching up. No brainer. I would recommend these even at full price. Worth the loot.

So I'm trying to figure out how to reduce decel popping on my 2014 CB1100. Ever since i put a GP exhaust on it, the popping is...less than pleasurable. I feel like a squid now

It was suppose to be a long story but due to motorcycle riding season, I make it short:
I am retiring my 2013 CB1100 ABS/5-speed, VIN 0041 with 53K which gave me an excellent and trouble free ride ever..and regret to say that she is now for sale
and
I already bought (not from Forum member) a used 2014 CB1100 ABS/6-speed, VIN 0049 with 17K that already went through its accessories transformation from her older, 2013 sister, including white 17L tank from Takashi...and was successfully tested for almost 1000 km.
Said that, do not want to waste any more time writing...lol...'cuz my new babe is idling and waiting outside for me...just one more word, the 2014/6 speed is a way more awesome bike than my previous , 2013/5 speed.

The Idea

Well, next year (2019) I become 60 years old, time to check off an item
from my bucket list: Ride across the USA. So I worked hard talking to my
wife, my employer and my dog and yes indeed, I've got the permission to
block 6 weeks next year from April 27 to June 8 to make that trip.

The Route

First thought came to my mind: Start northeast and go southwest, like
the pioneers did. That's the way to go, when you come from Europe. But
then, second thought: Hm, it may be cold and nasty in the NE when you
start at the end of April and hot and nasty when you arrive at the
beginning of June in the SW.

So I am thinking more or less about: Start in San Francisco or LA, then
ride somehow California, Arizona/Nevada/Utah/Colorado,
Arkansas/Missouri/Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and depart home from
Washington,DC.

I'm not really decided yet. I have to visit the list of the most famous
motorcycle tours, ride reports and maps, to get a better idea of the
route. Also, it would be great, if I could visit the western and/or
eastern CB1100 rally 2019. Or may be, I visit just the forum member's
map and ask those riders for local riding hints.

Anyway I would like to really ride the country, thus avoiding motorway,
just taking small roads and enjoy landscape, impressions, nature.

The Ride

How to ride across the USA? Indeed, I need a motorcycle.

First idea: send my own bike to the USA and back home. Well, some
research gave me numbers of about 3,500 - 4,000 Euro cost, plus lot of
effort to get that managed (bureaucracy). Sigh. Somehow I really would
like to put those miles on my own ride, but that may be too expensive
and cumbersome.

Second idea: rent a bike for 6 weeks. I once rented a ride in San Diego,
that was about 60 USD a day, if I recall right. Would be quite expensive for 6
weeks.

Third idea: Buy a CB1100 at start and sell it at the end. That sounds
indeed like the way to do it. But then, how to buy, how to get a license,
how to get an insurance...

Well, I'm still not settled about how to get a ride.

Yeah, I wanted to let you know in advance about my plans. I really would enjoy, if I could meet some of you guys and we may ride some miles together.

May be, I could use this thread as a planning thread and get some hints and ideas from my
friends here at this really awesome forum. There is still some time to go and a winter between
now and the planned start of the ride. But, time goes by...

I returned yesterday from a trip and while parking the bike in the garage I realized that I made the 100.000 miles (160934.4 km) mark on my 2014 CB 1100 EX that day

And still, no major issue

Well I'm on a roll I guess haha. Two days of perfect weather in a row means two days of all day riding. Today the misses and I headed out of Little Rock early with plans to ride up to the Buffalo River on a loop that I have done before dubbed "The Arkansas Grand Canyon". Decided early on in the ride we wanted to do a bit shorter ride instead and save the Canyon route for a two day expedition. We were already en route to Mount Magazine, so that's where we headed.

Mount Magazine is Arkansas' highest point at 2,753 ft. No cloud scraper by any means, but for the south it's quite a structure. It is situated in the Arkansas River Valley where many other prominent peaks stand out in stark contrast with the lowland delta below. The ride there from Little Rock is incredible, especially the climb up the mountain. AR-309 starts in Havana, which sits at 381 ft. above sea level. The 12 mile ride takes you through dense pine and hardwood, only allowing brief glimpses of the valley below as you climb a total of roughly 2,300 feet. Switchbacks and multiple hairpins make it a memorable experiance for sure. And this is your reward at the top:




Obviously, pictures do not come close to doing it justice. Just something you gotta see in person. But on a clear day you can see Sugarloaf Mountain which is 45 miles away, and everything inbetween. So if you ever find yourself near west central Arkansas it is definitely worth the ride.

I overplan, so it took me about 6 hours. Hardest part was the darn "quick release" gas tank line adapter. Also has to go to hardware store and buy two 6mm x 45mm hex bolts because fender kits bolts were a tad off. And also had to extend ground wire by 6 inches that goes to battery post because the plastic tool box that wedges on top of the batter would not fit in.
