  Best Outlet for Selling Bike
Posted by: ArbitraryThawt_imp - 02-18-2020, 09:07 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (11)

Was wondering what people’s experiences have been with selling options for bikes. CycleTrader Craigslist OfferUp FaceBook Marketplace. The last 2 listed above seem to get me a ton of fake interest. All opinions greatly appreciated.

  Speedo/Tacho Gauge alignment?
Posted by: Richard_imp - 02-18-2020, 12:52 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (34)

Every time I sit on my CB1100EX I am convinced there is something not quite aligned around the bars or instruments.

In the past I had bikes with misaligned bars/forks but I am not convinced this is the issue here and it may just be an optical illusion in play. In fact, I observed the same issue with another CB1100 (an RS) in the dealership.

When I spoke to the dealer about it, he told me it was a common topic and it is caused by the fact the gauges are rubber mounted and therefore, often look a bit out of line.

I've tried to photograph the gauges and bars on my bike but I have to admit, this picture does not really show the issue with any clarity.

Does anyone else have the same issue or know of any solutions? I could try realigning the forks I guess, but thought I'd ask here before starting that.

  Another oil question
Posted by: Obleo - 02-17-2020, 11:56 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (12)

Just curious, living in the mid-south with 95 to 100 degree temps. Has anyone considered using half 10-w 30 and 10-40 Honda full synthetic oil to stem the heat on this air cooled engine?

  After much shopping...

My "new" CB1100...

I previously test rode a 2014 CB1100 and thought it was too small for my 6' 2" frame. After evaluating and test riding several other "retro" bikes I gave the Honda a second chance. The Corbin seat and lower superbike bars on the bike I purchased put my lanky frame in a much better riding posture.

The Kawasaki Z900RS (my 2nd choice), with a taller seat height was ergonomically a good fit, but I just didn't warm up to the overall style and twitchy throttle response. I also didn't care for the look of the bulbous tank, monoshock, and hideous radiator. Also, MUCH more expensive.

Features on my CB1100 include:
Yoshimura RSCV exhaust
Corbin Gunfighter seat
Dechromed fenders
LED signals
Superbike bars
Rizoma bar end mirrors
Metzeler tires
Piggyback shocks (Kawasaki Zephyr)

The bike only had 2400 miles. Tastefully modified, imho. Previous owner also included all the stock parts. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the purchase!

  How to adjust the front forks on a 2013 CB1100 and a 2017 CB1100EX.
Posted by: michael1954 - 02-15-2020, 12:59 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (13)

I own both bikes and need some help with adjusting the front forks. I do not think they would adjust the same since the 2017 CB1100 EX has a new type of fork.

Have a Deluxe but Still Jonesing for a Standard
Posted by: Dave Swanson - 02-15-2020, 01:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (58)

I have a super nice 2014 Deluxe, but for some reason I always find my self looking at the ads for the 2014 Standard. I know it is silly and irrational, but it must have something to do with the first time I got a close look at a CB1100. Not long before I found my Deluxe I stopped at a close by dealer and they had a new Standard on the floor that I almost bought. A week or so later I found a good deal on a slightly used Deluxe and bought it instead. But the Standard is still imprinted on my mind!

I know other than the lack of ABS the riding experience will be identical. I seriously doubt I will ever be able to wear out my Deluxe, but I cant get the Standard out of my head. I really like the way they did the blacked out look on it and the 4 into 1 exhaust.

I am trying to talk myself out of doing it! But the desire for a Standard keeps coming back to roost at least a couple times a year.

This is the bike that imprinted itself on my brain.

So, What's the deal with bar-backs?

Looking at the posts about bar-backs and risers. The preferred brand has been dis-continued. What is the next best product for a tall rider. My spine will thank you.

HJC CS3 Helmet, anyone have one?
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 02-14-2020, 04:05 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (13)

I have a Scorpion helmet going on six years, so looking to rotate it out of the fleet. Being a child of the '70s, I'm really digging the HJC CS3 Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet.

I haven't worn an HJC lid in many many years. Anyone here have a CS3? If so, is it reasonably good?

  Real World Issues
Posted by: Gone in 60 - 02-14-2020, 12:41 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (6)

So this was interesting. When I changed the battery in the Triumph recently, there was a tad bit of corrosion on the ring terminals for the battery tender pigtail. I grabbed my phone and ordered a cheap replacement from eBay. A couple of bucks, I assumed it was coming from China.

Just realized that I never got a shipping notification, so I checked for messages on my EBay app, and the seller sent this:

“Dear friend
Due to the impact of the disease in China, there is no way to arrange shipments, I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you, and we will arrange a refund as soon as possible”

Wow, this is getting serious. Hope we can all stay healthy!
