Took a peek into the [url=https://powersports.honda.com/]Honda website and found the CB1100 noticeably absent from it. Was that it for our beloved retro beast? End of the road?

After many soggy, cold and dreary days the sun finally won out and the temperature made 74 this afternoon. We made a ride of about 50 miles into neighboring Wayne County to check out an old Live Oak tree that stands in the middle of O'Quinn Loop Road. This lovely old tree was spared when the road was paved years ago and there's an old farmhouse next to it. The bugs were out by the millions, especially around the cattle farms we passed. A really nice day for February.

Are the handlebar clamps on my '13 CB1100 specific to the model or are they generic?

I want to change the clamps from silver to black but I know a genuine Honda parts will cost a pretty penny.
I'm fitting a black Renthal 758 bar so want matching clamps.

50 years ago, as a six year old, I watched the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl 4. I remember maybe 2 plays from that game...little did I know at the time that it would be half a century before KC would return to the SB...hope no one minds a little bit of celebrating here!

I was just wondering about this. How did the pre-ECU bikes know when to send spark to a particular cylinder?

I had another stellar ride on the CB today. We are enjoying a few days of false spring, got up to 70 yesterday, today was mid sixties.
I headed southeast to Maxwell, about 40 minutes through mostly rice land occupied by thousands of migrating waterfowl.
From there the road west goes straight as a ruler to the foothills, about five miles distant. It was a little hazy today, maybe humidity, and it gave a neat 3-D effect with the near hills popping out and the hills and mountains in the distance fading to darker gray hues.
Then the fun began in earnest as the road gets twisty. The grass is turning green and makes a beautiful contrast with the rocky outcrops.
A 15mph caution sign warned of a sharper than normal curve, a pretty obvious right angle (at least in daylight). The posts of the barbed wire fence on the outside of the curve wore a variety of motorcycle helmets, at least a dozen, all styles! That curve marked what I took to be the town of Sites, could be wrong, didn't see a sign, just a cluster of old homes with wood smoke curling from the chimneys. Cattle were grazing off and on all along the route. I passed through the towns of Stonyford and Elk Creek and stopped for a look at the creek. When I was in high school we used the bridge on the left, now it's good for a unique view.


This couple was enjoying the view from the middle of the bridge when I stopped, nice folks with about the same flight plan I had. I saw about a dozen bikes and about the same number of cars and trucks all through the foothill route today.
From there I opted to head over the bridge and east, back towards home.
About a 140 mile jaunt with the typical smoothness and grace and total lack of glitches I have come to expect from this machine.
Tomorrows highs will be upper 49'ers- low 50's, so back to our version of winter in Northern California. Good day to watch football.

"Roll On" is the motto of the US Army's 28th Infantry Division.

My uncle, Sgt. Harry Watson, was attached to the 28th in WWII He paraded with them through the liberated streets of Paris on August 29, 1944. He fought fought valiantly with them in the Battle of Hurtgen forest and the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-45. He died of gunshot wounds to both kidneys in a German field hospital 75 years ago today, February 1st. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was 24 years old when he died. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery outside of Washington D.C.





He was born on September 4, 1920. He would have been 100 years old this year.

To commemorate his birthday, I am planning on riding from Chicago to Washington to place a flag or flowers on his grave. Straight through, it's about 725 miles, but I will extend the route to make it over 1000 in order to qualify for a SS1000 certificate. The route details are to be determined, but I will post that and other updates on my plans in this thread. I intend to use the ride as a fundraiser for a veteran-related charity, most likely one that supports Gold Star families. I will post details of that here as well.

Harry's birthday is just a couple of days before the CB1100 Rally which is in Pennsylvania. Coincidentally, the 28th Infantry Division is based in Pennsylvania. They are called "The Keystone Division" (Pennsylvania is "The Keystone State").

just for fun, take a guess at how much money is in my can.. I will be taking it to the bank's coin machine next week..I am not sure if I am saving fast enough to keep up with inflation...

First time posting in the forum. Have been keeping an eye out for deals on new/nearly new CB1100s with ABS on CycleTrader nationwide but am only seeing them for around 10k. They’ve been at this price for some time, so I was curious to know if bike shops around the country that are offering better pricing.
