  Replace my Nt700 Deaville?
Posted by: Funkawaana_imp - 03-07-2020, 04:38 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (19)

Apologies if you've heard this one before...

Currently have an Nt700 for going on holidays and big day trips( I'm lucky enough to have 2 other bikes, for other stuff) with my wife, who loves going out on the bikes. The nt700 isn't as bad as people make out, IMO, but I fancy a change. We don't do the "South of France in a day" stuff, but we do go up to the far north of Scotland (from near London) in 3 days; sometimes in 2 on the return journey. And when we are in Scotland I do feel the nt700 isn't the best bike to enjoy the roads up there with.

So what I'm after is a bike that I can get enough luggage on, for the 2 of us, but that is also going to be a bit more fun on the lanes, and looks fab.

I had a look at a bonneville, and it was great to ride, but I think a bit too small.

So is the cb1100 the answer.? It certainly looks great (annoyingly I prefer the looks of the 2013, but 6 gears sounds good too)

I look forward to great wisdom from the learned, and thank you in advance.

Cheers

Ian

  LED turn signals

I know this subject has been covered before but it has been a couple of years. Can I replace my turn signals with LED's and install the Posh digital flasher without it causing any other electrical problems? Also can someone tell me the best LED bulb that will fit the bucket of my 2014 CB1100? Thank you.

An inflammatory title about a bike I don't own but would like to, to an audience with much more knowledge than me - does he have a point, do you think?

due to the Corona Virus

but they are running Moto 2 and Moto 3 races since those squads were already at the track.

An American rider named Joe Roberts just set a new all time Moto 2 lap record around the Losail track in FP-1.

  Electric bug
Posted by: Django - 03-06-2020, 12:49 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (13)

Recently the electric of my CBF showed strange behavior. Out of the sudden the indicators didn't work anymore and the fuel consumption indicators worked while running the bike, but refused to show values anymore after the ignition was off.

Well, some research led to a very hidden broken cable right behind the fuse box. The direct power supply (not switched by ignition) was rotten off the fuse box. The red cable, that looks like cut off, belongs into the fuse box.

Now I still wonder, how to repair that. The fuse box is integral part of the cable harness and not replaceable.

Btw. this is my working place in the garage of my new home:

I did not want to distract from the "Still Jonesing for a Standard" thread. So am starting fresh. However, on that thread you had stated:

Out of curiosity, whereabouts in Illinois might you be riding to?

  Yamaha SRX 250 Project
Posted by: Tezza_imp - 03-05-2020, 11:56 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (7)

My SRX250 Project
About 10 years ago I purchased this bike to restore for my daughter but she ended up buying an XT250 as she likes the off road better. So late last year I pulled it out of the shed and started the restore. I purchased the bike as a non runner and managed to find a donor basket case. After much powdercoating, plating, polishing and painting it is nearly ready for a start up. The engine has fairly high mileage for a tiny bike and due to the unavailability of finding an oversize piston I just went for a new set of rings. All the wiring plugs have been replaced and the harness cleaned of the overspray paint from the P.O. New starter clutch, brake master and hydraulic line, carbs cleaned( yes it has 2)and lots of new bolts and screws. I had the cylinder head valve seats and valves cleaned up as they had developed some rust patialy due to the removal of the original airbox . In place of it was some gastly pod filters that looked like they came off an air compressor. They obviously didnt work very well as the P.O had punched holes in the end of them which negated and filtering. Just some foot controls and the exhaust to go now and then to get it out of the house for a start up.
