Before I start probing and prodding or worse--cutting, I figured I'd come to the fountain of knowledge here and ask the stupid question.

Is there a way to release this cable tie to reuse it? It needs to be removed in order to take the tank off.

Old me would have just cut it and replaced it with a black zip tie. New me is trying hard to keep this bike as OEM as humanly possible. The previous owner routed a battery tender lead through a place that has one of these same ties--so it makes me think it's possible. BTW...he routed the lead so seamlessly and clean that I didn't even realize it had been installed until I went to install one myself. I wish I knew who this guy was because he has much to teach about keeping a bike clean.

Well, maybe not forever, but it pretty much felt that way. I figured out that I had not left city limits on the CB in over two years. In fact, other than two quick errands (one trip to the neighborhood hardware store last year and running the bike over to the local shop where I had the Metzelers installed a couple of weeks ago), I haven't ridden the CB at all.

Tomorrow was going to be riding day as my wife and I were planning a trip to the wine country in the S2000 today. But things did not go as planned thanks to a dead battery in my son's car (blocking the driveway). So after putting the battery on a charger and taking care of a few things around the house, I decided to salvage part of the day by going for a short ride. I figured that it would be a good way to dust off the cobwebs and get a feel for where my riding skills stood. Not that I really needed an excuse to go for a ride.

As a bonus, the weather was absolutely perfect (right around 70℉). I enjoyed a casual Sunday evening ride around town and out to Sauvie Island and back. Sauvie Island is bordered by the Columbia and Willamette rivers on it's eastern side and the Multnomah Channel on it's western side. It is the largest river island on the Columbia River and one of the largest in the United States. The island is know primarily for it wealth of produce (it has a lot of farms featuring U-pick operations) and it's wildlife (birds in particular). There are a lot of viewing stations located around the island not to mention more osprey nests that you can shake a stick at — the osprey have nabbed all of the sticks..

For me the island made for a quick & easy getaway to wear in the new tires and get a feel for just how rusty my skills had become. They were rusty all right, but not too bad. The CB100 was a pleasure to ride just as it's always been. Fortunately by that time I made my way back home with only 65 miles covered, I myself was feeling normal once again aboard the CB. It seems that I am finally "back" so to speak, and that in and of itself feels good. As has always been the case throughout my entire life — it doesn't take too much time aboard a motorcycle to put a smile upon my face. I almost forgot to take a photo, so these will have to do. Better than nuthin' as they say.

Finally saw another CB1100. In my small town I never expected that.

Heat and humidity so typical of summer in south Georgia took a break this morning. The air felt cool and Sparky advised not to waste the moment, let's ride. Off we went for a spin through neighboring counties, enjoying the cool air, green corn fields and fresh plowed fields. It was so nice you'd think you were on the BRP if not for the lack of curves and mountains.

Recently i just found out my front sprocket had a rubber damper on it and its now broken. The sprocket teeth are still usable. But the rubber damper are broken and currently hanging and dangle around inside when the sprocket turn. No funny sound or blocking anything. Do i have to open up the sprocket cover to take it out? Or can i wait till its time to change the sprocket
The orange pointer is pointing at the loose rubber. Theres another part on the inner side of the sprocket.

All three of the bikes I ride have radiators, either with oil or water cooling through them. I know how expensive it would be to replace one. So I have bought all 3 bikes Radiator Screens off ebay, and all three from China. And all three work great. The one on both of the Hondas looks the same, but the second one I bought from a different seller had the ends pre-bent to grab onto the radiator very snug. The first one I put on the 2017 CB did not fit as tight, so I used two very small, black zip-ties, and it holds well. The 2nd one I put on the 2013 CB, and it fits very well. I will post a pix of it soon. The one on the Z900RS is also from China, and for $35 you cannot beat it. The ones on the Hondas were about $30 each. Not bad, and they work...

Is the Australian 2011 model the same as the overseas 2013 models?

Alot of o/s parts lists start at 2013 and dont list a 2011 model.

Are there any differences with the two apart from ABS ?

Today grandson Riley got his first new new motorcycle, a Yamaha TT 50. He's had a used TT 50 since he was 5. Rode it with training wheels. Now Riley is 7 and handed the used one down to his younger brother Tanner who just turned 5. No more training wheels for Riley!





4th generation of our family to ride Yamaha's in the last 48 years.

Their great grandfather (my father) rode a 1972 R-5C at one point as he got older
Their grandfather (me) rides an FJR
Their father (my son) rides an MT-10
and the two boys both ride TT-50's.

I've heard of false neutrals, which I assume means you put the bike into neutral and then it slips back into first, but is there a name for the opposite -- where you can't get the bike into first from neutral without rocking the bike or letting out on the clutch and then putting it back in?
