Where to get a seat pan/plate?
Posted by: Sodbuster_imp - 10-23-2020, 10:29 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (4)

Is it even possible to buy just a seat pan?

I've been researching and can't find one, I'm not even sure of the correct definition: seat pan, seat plate, etc. I couldn't find it through Samurider, Webike, or even OEM.

I used my own stock seat to build a new seat, worked out great but still not right so moving on to next idea and would rather build another rather than tear down the seat I'm using.

Anyone build there own seat?

  H&B Orbit Cases and C-Bow

Anyone use this setup on their CB? I am generally not a fan of side opening cases but they seem to have really good reviews and are readily available. Hard side bags are very hard to find for the CB.

2017 CB1100EX Color matched side covers
Posted by: ceeko_imp - 10-22-2020, 03:36 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (66)

I decided I wanted to see what it would look like with color matched side covers. I bought some OEM covers, and had them professionally painted by a local body shop. They used the factory color code to match paint. I think they turned out great.

That being said, after some back and forth, I've decided I'm going to stick with the stock covers after all, and think I'm going to try and sell these painted ones. It was worth the experiment, though, and I thought y'all might like seeing how they turned out:

  Brake lever gap from throttle.
Posted by: zirconxi_imp - 10-21-2020, 11:44 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (16)

Good day to all, I had been wondering, for the brake lever distant/gap from throttle, had anyone use no 6 before and if the brake can work fully during emergency full force braking? Mine kind of hitting the throttle if its tune to 6. No 4 is the maximum i can set confidently.
My lever had been bent b4 during a slow speed fall and had been straighten back. And i am wondering if my lever are out of spec due to the repair.
Setting at 5 leave barely <5mm of gap when fully depress. Currently i set it at 3 and it has a 50mm gap between lever and throttle when not pull, brake feathering start around 40-35mm and can fully depress till 10mm space is left. But setting at 6, i can easily pull the lever till kissing the throttle. Brake are still working, but i never tried it for emergency brake.

  Rust/corrosion - 2015 EX model
Posted by: N4RN_imp - 10-20-2020, 09:12 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (7)

Hi,

I'm looking for some valuable information/experience on how to avoid corrossion.

The bike is a CB1100EX from 2015. Past owners lived close to Normandy beaches. I just have very few areas where I see some corrosion. Otherwise, everything else is "nickel-chrome" like a french would say.

As you seen in the picture, most of the corrosion starts at welded joints. I plan to use ACF50 after reading some of the posts here and there.

How can i safely remove the existing rust ?
Does this mean a poor weld quality from Honda ?

Thanks,

  Honda's Engineering Flowchart
Posted by: pekingduck - 10-20-2020, 03:57 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (5)

Honda developed this as it realized shop manuals were getting far too big as machines become more complex. So they devised this summary that can be put on the back of a business card so that there would be a reason to actually carry around a business card.

  tank seam lining?
Posted by: bioman_imp - 10-20-2020, 09:08 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (11)

I really like the shape of the tank of my black checkered 2016 CB1100. But I was thinking that it would be nice, as a kind of 'finishing touch' to cover the edge seam of the tank with a U-shaped rubber lining. In fact I remember seeing this in a picture some time ago but I have no clue where I saw this. Does any of you know how I could go find it, make it or buy it?

Here is a picture of a tank (not mine) with (in red) the area that I would l
like to cover.
