  Exhaust ACF-50 juxtaposition
Posted by: Ayrshire Dunx_imp - 11-21-2020, 12:54 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (5)

I was wiping down the bike with a rag and some rust inhibitor ready for a long winter sleep. However I have heard that it is a good idea to squirt the stuff down the exhaust pipes.

Anyone ever done this? Is it wise? Could it affect the catalyst etc.

Cheers everyone!Worship

Please please PLEASE let there be NO postal carriers along my route. Angel

And, NO, I'm not buying ... just a little taste ...

It's going to be 74F (24C) and sunny. Thumbs Up

  Why aren't we fighting?

The Coronavirus responses and the ongoing election foolishness seems to have turned just about everyone into irritable antisocial idiots. People hate anyone who doesn't agree with their own way of thinking. I see it at work and in the grocery store. I see it in my neighborhood and at church. I especially see it among my friends and loved ones on social media.

But not here. I find myself coming to this forum more often just to get away from the drama and to talk with other people who are decent to each other, though we come from all over the world and undoubtedly have different political convictions. Is it our beloved CB11--a motorcycle with the power and grace to unite us all? Is it our age--we've lived long enough to understand that this too shall pass? Is it our illustrious forum moderators?

What do you think?

Thinking I'm gonna trade my 15 CBR300R in on one of these. My buddy is getting a 07 in at his dealership. I've been bitten by the dirt bug and spend a lot of time on my 01 CR80RB recently. She's a blast but the lack of suspension travel limits me a bit so this will take care of that.
I'm no good at loading pics. Sorry.

  Josh’s bigger throttle bodies project
Posted by: PowerDubs_imp - 11-19-2020, 12:49 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (50)

So far I’ve done the easy mods to the bike. And have made good gains.

Where we stand so far, my bike vs a stock ‘17 CB1100 - both on a Dynojet, measured at the wheel.

While the results are good, and enjoyable to ride- I’m not done yet. I think she has more left in her.

Next obvious bottleneck is the throttle bodies. The bike has 32mm.

I started to look around - knowing that a lot of motorcycles (and cars) use partsbin engineering to save cost.

Sure enough- a similar vintage CB1000 has TB that look the same in all the pictures, but are 36mm.

My guess is that Honda used the same casting with a different ID bore.

So I bought a set.

Came complete with everything- injectors, fuel rail, TPS sensor, other sensor, hoses....

So I went to the garage, grabbed my spare airbox, and sure enough- the housing/flange are the exact same and fit the mating groove perfectly.

The only issue I see so far is the spacing between the pair is a little further apart on our bike.

So I went back on EBay and found a guy selling a dirty but complete set of CB1100 TB for $99 or best offer. Got them for $40 shipped. Smile

I can use them for measurement, and hoping the spacers in between just interchange. I could use my stock parts of course- but this will allow me to leave my stock parts alone, and get the ‘1000’ Tb ready and just swap them on.

This is just the start. I need to look up specs to decide which injectors to run, check the part numbers for the rubber boots to head, etc.

Wheeee!!!

  Oil Drain Plug Washer Size
Posted by: Tev62 - 11-18-2020, 12:01 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (14)

Hi

does anyone have a value for the oil drain plug washer size. e.g. M 18 x 22 x 1,5
or M 20 x 24 x 1,5, or M 22 x 27 x 1,5.

Just looking to buy a pack of five online, it looks like an outside diameter of 22mm but it is a little difficult to read the ruler on my back.

  Unsold '17ex ... where!?!?
Posted by: cb73_imp - 11-16-2020, 02:08 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (29)

Hey!
I'd like to buy an unsold 2017 CB1100 EX but I can't seem to find any. Are they all gone? If anyone has a lead on where I can find an unsold one I'd be very very happy.
Thanks,
Sam
