I have noticed some abrasions to the clear coat around the belt buckle area of my tank. I remember seeing a post on how to protect against this using 3M clear bra film. However I'm wondering whether anyone has used and can recommend an adhesive backed rubber pad to prevent this scratching. I see Techspec do several models but I wonder which one is the best fit for the 2019 EX tank shape?

Hello All - Sorry as I'm just joining the forum but would like to start working more on my bike. Now that I have a bit more time I'm hoping that I can knock this one out as where I moved to, all mechanics are weeks out.

So I just got my bike back from a mechanic last week in CA the day I had movers packing everything up. Then I noticed the leak when I got home but didn't have time to take it back to him. Now I'm in GA and in a pickle. I know the picture doesn't show much but I'm ready to start digging to try to figure out where the issue is coming from. Appreciate any and all help!

Thought I'd share a collection...

Three of my sons are between the ages of 17 and 30. When we talk motorcycles (other than dirt bikes), here's what they say:

- Absolutely don't want a cruiser.
- Don't want a touring or ADV bike.
- Sports bikes are great for one person. Girls (wife in one case) don't like riding perched up high over the back wheel on a seat the size of a maxi pad.
- Standard style motorcycles with flat seats are great, and girls think they look cool and want to ride on back.

Well, that leaves a pretty small selection:

- Kawasaki Z900, W800
- Honda CB1100 (discontinued but available if you look)
- Triumph Bonneville
- Guzzi V7, V9
- BMW R nineT

So, a couple of questions:

- Are my sons' expectations typical of people in their 20s who are interested in motorcycles?
- Are there other motorcycles which would fit those expectations?

When someone joins or attepts to join the forum either Guth, Cormanus or myself have to approve them. You wouldn't believe how many scammers try and join just to advertise something.

When I see a newest member name on the opening page I don't recognize I immediately click on that name to see what their story is.

So when I click on him, there is nothing out of ordinary in his bio (which is where spammers like to put their little advertisements). So I look at where they are from Nigeria. Wow we don't get many Nigerians on the forum. I looked to see how much time he has spent online on the forum.

Usually it might be 3 or 4 minutes, but I have also seen 3 days 11 hours and 45 minutes (example)

If he comes back and wants to buy your bike, but he needs to send you twice what you want for it, if you'll just get a money order and send it to him for the difference. Don't say I didn't warn you lol.

I woke up unusually early on Saturday morning. I hadn't been to the Donut Derelicts gathering of hot rods and bikes in quite a while, so I headed to Huntington Beach.

For a little history, Donut Derelicts is the grandfather of all Cars and Coffee shows. For several years, hot rodders have gathered early on Saturday mornings in a strip mall parking lot on Magnolia and Adams streets in Huntington Beach. The gentlemen's agreement is that everyone will be cleared out before the stores in the strip mall open, so cars gather very early in the morning, and are gone by 9am. The donut shop in the center opens up early for everyone, hence the name. Loud radios, revving engines and burnouts are highly frowned upon.

This begat other shows on Saturday mornings that have replicated the "get up early and show off your car" concept.

I rode the CB to Donuts, and as I rode slowly through the parking lot, several people noticed the bike, and a few followed me to where I parked. Several people asked what the bike was... was it old and restored to look like a newer bike?... Wow, Honda made these recently?... Is it fuel injected?... Does it ride like a Honda from the old days?...

I was quite surprised at the amount of attention my bike attracted. So much so that several cars had started leaving, and I had to politely excuse myself so I could look around at the cars that were still there. One car that drew my immediate attention was an early Falcon two door sedan fitted with a 2-liter EcoBoost engine.

Eventually, after chatting with a few more guys who were standing by my bike when I got back to it, I headed up Pacific Coast Highway, and ran across the only other CB1100 I have ever seen on the road!

I've been trying to follow the progress of a new Los Angeles location for The Bike Shed, which I understand is a very popular bike hangout in England. I sort of miss the closing of the House of Machines in L.A., which hosted some neat motorcycle events, and the information about The Bike Shed has been very nebulous and non-specific..."Opening in Fall of 2020".

I was going to meet some of my Petersen Museum friends for dinner on the west side of L.A. last night, so, on the way, I found the location for The Bike Shed, which is off of 7th Street in the expanding Arts District. "Opening in Fall of 2020" seems a bit optimistic. While the building, whatever it had been in its previous life, had been cleaned up and gutted, it looked very far from completion. As I looked at it, someone very important looking pulled up and walked toward the building. I asked when it would be opening, and he sort of grunted something about six months or so.

I then crossed through downtown L.A. and proceeded toward my dinner meeting on the West Side. I noticed many cars flying Lakers flags. I'm not much of a basketball fan, but figured that it was about finals time, and that the Lakers were doing well.

Since the museum had been closed for months due to the pandemic, I haven't had much of a reason to be in or near Downtown L.A. for quite some time, and noticed a forest of construction cranes on the South side of the city, near Staples Center and the convention center. I had a nice dinner with my friends, and noticed that several people were wearing Lakers jerseys. As we finished dinner and said our goodbyes, I figured that rather than just aiming for the closest freeway and riding home, that I'd head back toward the Staples Center area to check out the new construction. I had no idea what I was about to encounter.

I rode East on Pico Blvd, which cuts between Staples Center and the L.A. Convention Center. As I got closer to downtown, traffic heading East picked up slightly, a bit unusual for a Sunday night. I glanced up and saw several helicopters and drones hovering over Staples Center. At that point, I should have figured that something big was brewing and peeled off for a freeway, but didn't think too hard about it.

Right about the time I entered the tunnel that goes under the 110 Freeway and Pico dumps out into Staples and the Convention Center, the Lakers won the NBA Championship. When I came out of the other side of the tunnel, it was sheer uncontrolled pandemonium. I had one shot to turn around, cutting across oncoming traffic, but there were too many things going on to do it safely.

All streets were blocked with cars, with cars pointing in all directions, cars doing donuts in the intersection, and people running around shooting off fireworks and waving Lakers flags. If I were a die-hard Lakers fan, I would have been in heaven. But, I was a very vulnerable person on a motorcycle at night who wanted to get the heck out of there as quickly as possible.

I was able to get up on a sidewalk, go around a few barriers, and cut through some equipment storage yards under the Convention Center. Across a sidewalk, and I was on Figueroa, heading South, away from downtown. Traffic was pouring into the area from all directions, with more fireworks going off and more people running around. I rode for over a mile with gridlocked traffic in the other direction trying to get into the area. I made it to a freeway and home safe.

Checking the news, it sounded like other than people running around like crazy, it didn't get too out of hand, which is good. Mostly I was afraid of being hit by a car in all of the craziness.

Hi everyone, long time 2013 cb1100 owner and forum member here. Ijust got a house after being in an apartment for 10 years so I have some shop space now. I bought and installed one of those nice looking reverse cone slip on exhausts Dime City Cycles has on their site. Exhaust was a little pricier than an emgo but man this thing is quality. Reminds me of something on a factory triumph or something. Anyways heres a pick.

I haven't been on the bike in over 2 years since my accident.

Spent the last few months slowly putting it back together.

Put a new battery in it today and started it up.

Been so long- I forget-

What is the normal RPM when you first start it cold?

What should it be once warm?

I had my right hip replaced 6 days ago and am recovering very well! I am already walking farther than I was able to a year ago!! I look forward to pain free mobility for 2021.

Since I am off motorcycles until the snow is probably flying the upcoming surgery forced me to put the bikes into winter mode 6 weeks plus early.

Here is where the CB is stashed for the winter. No cold winter nights for this baby!
