After reading the post "modular helmet?" I started a little research and search on the [url=http://sharp.dft.gov.uk/]Sharp website. First I wanted to really understand the background and test approach, next I wanted to see what one has to spend on a good helmet. Since not everybody may have that patience, and as a minimum, I'd recommend reading the following sections : fitting guide, parts of the FAQ including a) is the safety rating the only thing to consider when buying ... and b) what should I do if I have a low rated helmet. Unfortunately I cannot provide direct links because of the way the FAQ is designed.

Next, I used the following criteria under Helmet Search:
manufacturer= all,
type = system helmet,
rating = *****.
The surprise result is that out of 6 helmets presented, one is quite expensive, one becomes unlatched in too many cases (yes, it is rated *****), and the remaining helmets are all made by Caberg, and sold for about 100-150 USD.

Built in Italy, and sold all around Europe (U.S. too ?), I would like to know
- if they have been sold in significant numbers ?
- if you own or owned one ?
- what your experience has been ?

I am getting tired of saying, writing, spelling "Cee Bee eleven hundred". It's long and doesn't stick. It's even a little boring (while my bike is not !).

So bear with me if this has been proposed before, since I couldn't find it here on the forum.

Can't we just give our babies a common name, like so many Honda and other bikes had one before. Remember the Shadow, the Hurricane, the Nighthawk ? I think it's time for a nice name. I am proposing ...

I stumbled upon this video of an exhaust sound and looks comparison for our CB1100. They show an impressive amount of exhausts. Unfortunately the sound recording devices are different which makes an exact sound comparison somewhat impossible, but it still gives you an idea.

My favorite sounds come from the SC Project and the Bugbike pipes.

I have recently been bitten by the off-road bug again. I grew up on a farm and spent a lot of time in the saddle of many dirt bikes. Now that I am older and wiser (read: more fragile) I have been purchasing gear to keep me in one piece. I was using an old pair of Cortech solution road boots but realized they just weren't going to do the job for rough terrain safety. I purchased a pair off O'Neal dedicated MX boots that are like a fortress for your feet/ankles/shins. However, I cannot imagine how one would get any kind of feel through the levers or pegs through these things. I haven't worn them on the trails yet because I'm not too sure I could even shift with them on. Any words of advice how to break them in or tricks for shifting?

Thinking back to the first forum rally, one of the best experiences was meeting two of our Aussie mates that made the long trip from "Down Under". Pterodactyl and Cormanus made the rally better by their presence. Their always good humor and "strange" form of English were a constant delight to Sparky and me. I really miss Tony's always interesting posts but I hope he's still a member and will chime in sometime. G'day fellows!
