Been awhile since I posted any pixs of any of my bikes. I was asked to show pixs of the DLX I am now trying to restore to new condition. It sat 6 years under a tarp, so I am showing some of the rust, fading, and corrosion. Also pixs of my 1980 Suzuki GS750E. I am finally finished with it. The 1982 Suzuki, GS1100E that I have done only cosmetics to, like new rear Progressive shocks, chain guard, and a few parts on the cylinders.

The picture here of the DLX, I had already changed out the rear shocks with the ones off my 2013 CB. Bought the correct Honda OEM seat, New side covers, brake & clutch levers & Reservoir covers.
Note the heavier bar end weights on the EX. You cannot see them, but I put them on the DLX also. They do help to remove what little buzz was there.

Will a leaking fork seal cause vibration? Getting more vibration than I'd consider normal on some rides. I was thinking it might be the the front wheel because I replaced the tire myself a couple months ago and balanced it myself using a Motion Pro wheel truing balance stand. But i've ridden at least 500 miles since then with no issue. I noticed the fork seal leaking (left side looking forward) a few weeks ago, but have also ridden a lot since then too. The vibration just started a week ago and happens on my commute to work which is 40 miles one way. It's only in my right hand too, so getting it through the throttle which seems odd.

2014 CB1100. 13k miles. No mods except for engine guard bars and rear seat rack.

I have a set of stunt bars made by Ruchkagaza, highly recommend their product. The bars run along the frame and follow the lines of the bike perfectly. See photo

Now, I'm looking to mount a set of highway pegs or rubber padded foot rests on those bars. Something like that

But my problem is that most, if not all of those are supposed to mount on vertical bars. Mine are horizontal. So what I'm looking for is a clamp similar to the one here, but spun 180 degrees. And also accomodate 1" bar.

So, the short version of it is that a fertilizer truck backed up full gas into me and my Vstrom 1000....a real tragedy. honestly, i loved that machine and i chose it so well.

so what's next? i've got 7 or 8k to burn from the payout. I'm gonna go this very weekend and grab another workhorse (i keep my CB for fun miles only). The Vstrom had about 11k on it, so i'm shooting in that age range and don't want anything with like 20k + miles on it.

The options I have found:

ZG1400 Concouse. oh how we come full circle. I was strongly considering one of these when i got the Vstrom. Stonking power, stonking weight, but maximum comfort This one wins in the "long miles" category

BMW K1300S. Yep. I found one of these for just 6.5k with only 14k miles on it. I'm really interested in it. my perception is there's potential for some very expensive maintenance here, but I can't ignore the potential of this machine. The only thing is i have no experience with it. Can anybody shed light on this or give their impressions of this bike?

Suzuki Vstrom 1000. Duh. I found another one with low miles for 7.5k I'm tempted to just get it and carry on with life.

Triumph Tiger 800. Here we are again....I got one of these just before my Vstrom and actually Traded it even-steven-no-cash-on-the-table for the Vstrom. I stand by that choice and don't regret it at all....and when you consider that it will be 8k and still have more miles on it than the Vstrom i found....I don't think this is in the front of the pack.

Yamaha FJ09. What can i say? they're functional, cool, efficient, and reliable. the thing is....I've shopped this bike before, and it always loses the comparison. i didn't want it more than i wanted the tiger. I didn't want it more than i wanted the CB1100....it just never seems to measure up. It is, however, available for just 6k. a tidy savings for a bike that does everything I need it to do.

Suzuki GSX-s1000F. This is a dark horse. Huge power, but none of the crazy weight of the Concourse. Less power and less comfort than the BMW, but with Suzuki reliability. It's got the legendary K5 power plant in it. It's got all the electronic safety i want in a workhorse, and with a new seat it might even do a great job on distance. It is however a whole 8k on price. I'm not sure what to think about this one but i'm tempted to believe it will be shockingly amazing.

So, if you were me, and this was your buffet, which do you go for first? Any bikes i'm not considering? Do you have a bad opinion of any of these bikes? Weigh in please, i would appreciate the help.

Had a spill this past weekend, luckily I'm all good with nothing broken, just very sore. My bike went for a nice slide, bounce and slide.

So I have to replace pretty much everything on my handlebars, luckily brake reservoirs are not leaking and don't seem to have too much damage. But handlebars themselves, levers, speedo all need to be replaced. I had the engine protectors so those saved a bit of damage but the left cover on the engine did get worn down a bit and have a little leak now of oil, so it would prob be best for me to replace that as well.

So question is, what source do you guys use to get your parts? I've seen the big ones like JP and Revzilla but for the most part I haven't ordered bike parts up to this point. So reaching out to see what is recommended? I'll use this to make some improvements I suppose as I want to change out the handlebar position.

Had to kill a few minutes waiting to pick up an order and was next to one of the local Triumph dealers, so I took a peek in the showroom to look at the new Trident.

They had two, one that was sold and another with a pending sale. It has a round headlight, round-ish tank, so not sure if it's going for a neo-retro look, but I sat on it, fiddled with the controls and the TFT dash menus, and thought it was pretty comfortable and cool.

With all of the fees tacked on, it was $9k, and they said they are sold before they hit the floor right now. I wouldn't mind taking one for a spin, but it would mean making a tough choice between the CB or the Bonnie if I decided I just had to have it.

Just a quick question gents. I'm changing out my left crank cover. I thought it was hollow.. but when I saw some pictures from here I noticed the gears . My question is is there a problem with transferring the gears to the new crank cover? On a 1 to 10. where would you rate the job? thanks in advance Calipo

hi all, I'm sure I've read that honda have altered the valve timing on 2 cylinders of the 1100rs in order to give the engine 'character'. To me this just translates as 'rough' and is not the quality feel I'm used to from a honda four. If I wanted something that feels and sounds like a twin I'd buy a twin. I'm going to ask my local dealer to take it for a ride and check that it's running right, (don't worry sir they all do that!). I must say the quicker I go the smoother it is and if its right I'm sure ill get used to it. Any comments welcome.
