Last weekend in the Blue Ridge Mountains, behind the slowest corvette in history, with my wife on pillion, and special guest vocals by Tom Waits.

  vintage sissy bar

There's a Sissy bar luggage rack from a 1979 CB750K available near me. I don't suppose anyone has put one or one like it on a CB1100? From the pics, it looks like it might fit. I think I remember someone did something similar with one from from a VT700 or something similar.

End the Black Wheel Tyranny: Free the Motos!
Posted by: Stichill_imp - 05-03-2021, 12:14 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (53)

Enough already! For the life of my I cannot grasp this aesthetic. I can't tell you how much of a turn-off it is to me. When I see a new bike where the only wheel color is black, it's an immediate "Move on, nothing to see here." I don't care of the bike fulfills 99% of my checklist, there's just no way.

If you are into black wheels, or at least accepting of them, more power to you. I wish it worked for me, I really do. But, it's like putting [url=https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Kate+Beckinsale&t=opera&iax=images&ia=images]Kate Beckinsale in Carhartt coveralls and an arc welding mask...just no!

The Sublime Perfection of Riding 40-45 mph / 64-72 kph
Posted by: Stichill_imp - 05-03-2021, 10:33 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (27)

Traffic was really light everywhere I went on this evening's ride, affording me the opportunity to dial back the speed a bit to run 40-45 mph / 64-72 kph without the bother of tailgaters.

The character of the ride changed from being swiftly conveyed past the scenery, to being transported through the scenery. It was quieter, more immersive. There's more time for the senses to perceive and for the brain to appreciate.

I thought maybe going slower would be even better. Nope. At 35 mph / 56 kph, the scene drags and there's insufficient progress for the mind to be fully entertained.

It's definitely something I will be doing more of as the opportunities present themselves.

Does anyone have the honda part number for the 2017EX honda low seat from Japan? Or a recommendation on where to buy one? is samurider the best option?

Seems like the K&H low seat does not fit the 2017EX or am I wrong?

  Cherokee, NC to Clingmans Dome
Posted by: Mscb1100_imp - 05-03-2021, 03:25 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (11)

Last Thursday The A-man and I left the motel in Cherokee and drove 20 miles to Clingmans Dome Rd. It was 55 degrees at an elevation of 1991 feet in Cherokee.
We arrived at the park entrance and rode 7 miles up to the Dome at an elevation of 6644 ft, where it 40 degrees and we were in a cloud and couldn't see 10 ft in front of us.
Notice the cloud in the background of photo number 2
An hour later we were back down to the valley riding by the Oconee and we had to remove jackets due to it being in the high 70's.

wife found this pic in the closet today

November 19, 1972 Harrison Ohio 2 Man Hare Scrambles. I'm riding with my younger brother Randy (the dirty guy). We were 22 and and 20 then, and both working at a Yamaha/Moto Guzzi/ Norton shop (the same one I buy my bikes from today only now they are Honda/Yamaha.

He was going to ride the first leg. Of course it rained like crazy and the track was a quagmire. He made a few laps before my Yamaha 125 quit running after going thru a horrible mud puddle that became a bog after 100 bikes had run thru it. Our day was over.

Hard to believe it's been almost 1/2 of a century Dodgy

  Turn Signal Malfunction
Posted by: billyfinchapel_imp - 05-03-2021, 12:52 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (5)

Anyone have an issue with turn signal burning through fuses? I noticed over the weekend my turn signals weren't working. Bulbs are fine, fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse, took it for a ride, signals worked a few times then stopped again. Another blown fuse. I suspect a short somewhere.

2014 - 12k miles.

Thanks for any insight.

Just testing image posting hope this works.

It also shows the radial front brake. Not sure if there is any noticeable difference for road use but its said to save mili seconds on the race track.
