Picture it: CBs of the world! What I'm proposing is a little project I've been researching for a while now, which I think would be a fun and valuable distraction on the forum. Other bike-specific forums do this and it's pretty successful elsewhere.

The Goal: To create a nice, attractive, artistically coherent calendar featuring the venerable Honda CB1100 in all its incarnations. To be able to produce this calendar at a meager enough cost that anybody can easily afford to own one. To do so at a net zero profit, because this is not an exercise in monetizing our love of the bike, it's an exercise in celebrating the spirit of the machine and its owners in a way we can all share. The goal is to make the calendar and spend every cent collected on the calendar's production.

The product: Using an online print shop, I've come up with a reliable design aesthetic that I can easily adapt to any photo arrangement. This way, I can create a personalized product for the forum with minimal cost. The calendar will be composed of photos provided by YOU, the users! YOUR bikes will be featured in the calendar itself, hanging in your fellow forum members homes for a whole month, proudly expressing what YOU love about your bike. Obviously, I want to do something much more exciting with the cover art, and I'm hoping for some much more dynamic photos, but this gives you an idea of the composition of the calendar as I now envision it.A series of 1, 2 or 3 photos, a personal quote or forum signature from the owner of the bike, and of course the date grid. Also, Just for fun, I had the idea to include the birthdays of the users whose bikes are featured, as a little reward for taking such great pictures that you get selected for the calendar.

The Cost: After some extensive research on print shops, shipping arrangements, and other associated costs, I've come to the conclusion that we can distribute these calendars for about $14.00 apiece including shipping (tentatively). A number of things factor into this. The cost of the calendars themselves actually vary with the number of calendars that are ordered. For example, if 25 or more are ordered, I can hold firm to the $14.00 price point. If only 10 are ordered, the cost increases to over $20.00 per calendar. If fewer than 10 are ordered, we literally can't even get them made. Shipping is another ball of wax. If we were only shipping in the domestic US, the cost would actually be a bit less, but considering that we can have participants and orders from all around the world out of our user base, covering shipping to those areas is a little harder, which is currently factored into the $14.00 price point. This is one of the reasons I'm making this post now, to gauge interest with the group and see just how likely it is that we'd have enough orders to make this reasonably priced for everybody.

The Time Table: Ideally, this would be a calendar everybody could hang up for the year 2022. If there's real interest in this project idea, We can start collecting order pledges and begin collecting photo submissions within the next week. I would want to ensure a cutoff date with all final selections made and design submitted to the print shop for production by no later than 11/14/21. Once the final design proof is submitted and available for everybody to see, That's when we'd start collecting final purchases. If, for whatever reason, this can't work, I'll push the whole thing back to a 22/23 calendar from July to June. Why does the year have to be bookended with gloomy winter months anyway?

Logistical notes: Australians, Europeans, and other international forum users are not excluded from this venture! I really want this calendar to showcase all the variation and awesomeness of the CB1100, and you can't do that without your cool international colorways, special trims, and model years. Australians will be the hardest to service with shipping though, So I may ask for help from some kind Aussie on the forum to handle distribution down there, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Well I think i can claim the record for the most number of years between joining the forum (05-04-2013) and when purchasing a Honda CB1100 (10-17-21)-- eight! I used to ride a CB 250, then had nothing at all for 7 years, until yesterday...

Yesterday, I finally did it. Found a great deal on Facebook Marketplace here in Atlanta GA, met up wth the guy and paid 5k for a gently used 2014 black standard CB1100 with 8k miles! Its got some nice aftermarket parts such as the Sato racing rear set, OEM Heated grips, and T. rex engine guards. Condition is near perfect. And to celebrate, i just bought the knurled oil cap from Greg on this forum.

Hi everyone. Picked this 2014 up on a trade in from a dealer yesterday. Admittedly I'm not the most experienced when it comes to actually wrenching on my bikes but was wondering if this is an issue? I didn't notice it when I was looking the bike over yesterday at the dealer but I had also ridden a few hours and could have missed it. No issues running/riding since I got it which have been around 200 miles so far. Should I be concerned? I asked the dealer to send me service records if he has any. Wondering if it was just previous work that got a little sloppy or something else.

I'm wondering if there are some fatter grips that I could put on my 2014 CB1100 A.

My Shadow 750 has thicker grips that are more comfortable for my extra large hands, but no weights on the bar ends.

I believe the handlebar is 7/8 on both bikes, but I'm not sure.

With winter coming up soon, maybe I should look into heated grips?

The cramp buster helps a little, but I think my hands are just a little large to comfortably grab the stock 7/8 rubber grips. And suggestions appreciated.

Found a brand new set of AR-25's on the FB CB1100/1300 page a few weeks ago. Guy had listed them about a year ago and nobody picked them up. I offered him $200 shipped and he gladly accepted. Kit was brand new, most things still in their vacuum sealed bags.

Install was a breeze as I've played with forks many a times and USD forks are MUCH harder to work on. It came with the 1.0 springs which are what I need for my weight and it's very nice.

First thing I noticed is how controlled the rebound was. Before it was like a pogo stick and would bounce like crazy. Now its smooth and reacts very nicely. I know some have said they can't feel the difference... I definitely can.

Been a big fan of Traxxion Dynamics and all their support. I've spoken at length with Dan via phone and email and he's been super friendly and answered all my dumb questions. Went to their store in GA and met and talked to Max for a bit on my way home from picking up my 2016 FJR from the famous FJR tuner Ivan.

This is my 4th bike with Traxxion stuff... my '06 FJR had the Axxiom kit, my '07 FZ1 had AK-20's and a Penske rear, and my current 2016 FJR has AK-20's and a Penske triple clicker rear. Went crazy and swapped the RSU forks from my A model and put USD forks on them... one of a kind FJR and handles amazing.

I saw some small rust pits on the chrome oil cooler lines. I am wondering if a problem could occur from these pits causing a leak.

Few insights from aviation do apply to riding a m/c.
Here is one that does, the idea is very simple. The pilot (here rider) asks himself, while still on the way to the airport “am I fit to fly or take the controls?”

In order to make sure, nothing gets overlooked in the heat of the day he uses what’s called a mnemonic (if unfamiliar look the term up on wiki).
And the mnemonic on hand is called IMSAFE, standing for
I-llness (am I ill ?)
M-edication (did I ...
S-tress (am I ...
A-lcohol
F-atigue
E-motion

Looks to me as this applies one to one to riding a m/c. If you think you know a valid exception post it below. Good thing is, like with all mnemonics, it’s very easy to remember.

Yesterday my brother and I rode down to Portsmouth Ohio to meet up with Mtneers for lunch at the Scioto Ribber aka "Ribbers". They make an awesome 16 oz Ribeye steak cooked over a wood grill. As my son says "Ribbers, never dissapoints".

It's 184 miles round trip for me, and worth it in every respect. For me riding there means riding thru the Appalachian hills of southern Ohio through the Shawnee State Forest

I rode my NC since Ron said he had never seen one. My brother rode his Bonnie.

After a great meal..(my brother had the steak, Ron and I opted for their "ribs" which look like giant bone in pork chops.



we went outside to look at the bikes. Ron looked at and sat on my NC. He thought not having a clutch would be weird., and when I opened the frunk (front storage compartment) he commented that the NC is like a scooter (he's not entirely wrong) lol

Ron had parked on the other side of the lot and when we walked over to look at his wing I found it sitting between 2 mini vans and commented that there were 3 mini vans parked in a row,

Looking at all the features on Ron's wing, the storage in the electronically opening bags and trunk, electric windshield, keyless ignition, stereo, navigation, reverse, was amazing. I think it actually had more features than the mini vans on either side of it

we all mounted up and made our way to the Mural Wall (1/2 mile of painted murals along the Ohio River



Afterwards we split up and made our ways home. My brother and I on roads like this









Weather was perfect, roads were awesome, food was great and the company was wonderful

Yea, I'm one of those guys that just had to do the Parade laps. It was really cool, if not the most exciting thing to watch. My wife was on pillion too, so now she can say she's been on a race track.
