Have been looking for a 2nd bike for a while. Not another CB. And then I stumbled over this orphan beauty, 2017, under 5000 miles, a little neglected on the maintenance side, but not a scratch, and the owner desperate as he wanted to sell before winter. This was my second ride today, a wet and cold day. In reality, her tank is beautiful, the red is sparkling in sunlight. What can I say, I love it .... and her front brakes don’t squeal, in stark contrast to the bumbelbee.

How many of you own or owned 2 CB1100/s, and why ?

Would a 2007 Honda ST1300 (non-ABS) with 50k miles be a could second bike purchase. I will "never" sell by 2014 CB1100 after putting 60,000+ miles of cross country riding on it I want to pamper it and save it for shorter excursions. The ST1300 seems reliable. Thoughts?

I am confused, please somebody clarify. I want to order a set of Hepco Becker saddlebag mounts for my 2014 CB1100 Deluxe. HB has a set that works on CB1100 from 2013 forward and a set for 2014 CB1100EX. No mention of the Deluxe. The EX appears to have the features of a Deluxe. Is the Deluxe also called the CB1100SA the same as an EX?

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who's experiencing this here in Southern California, but wanted to see if it's the same in other parts of the country, or the world for that matter.

When the world shut down last year, road traffic became very light as people hunkered down and few people were going somewhere for a job each day.

Now, with the world seemingly back to a new normal, many people have remained working at home, or are not working at all. We had about 15 people working in our office each day, and now we've got six, with the remaining people able to work from home permanently. Also, about half of the commercial space around our office is still vacant.

However, road traffic on weekdays has returned to pre-pandemic level. Once again, I'm very happy to be able to ride a motorcycle to work, cutting half the time and all of the traffic. Here's me on the way to work this morning. Both the regular and car pool lanes are crawling on a Thursday morning.

Interestingly, while car and truck traffic have returned to normal, I hardly see any motorcycles on my daily commute now. Maybe one other bike every few days.

Am I the only one seeing this?

I just couldn't resist getting these diamonds for my lovely bike.



I think they will look great when attached to the side covers, and the red colour nicely matches the red wing-logo on my tank (see my avatar).

But how to securely attach them? I see 2 options:

a) I can drill 2 small holes in the side covers and attach the diamonds as how it was intended, securing them at the back with the tiny fasteners.

or

b) I can cut off the 2 pins, and just "glue" (with removable glue, e.g. sikaflex) the diamonds to the side covers.

The advantage of the second option is that the side covers will stay pristine, and that I can take the diamonds off again if I change my mind. Disadvantage is that I am not sure they will stay attached when glued, and it would be a waste if they fall off.

Any bright ideas?

The Honda Service Manual states to inspect and clean the air filter ever 12,000 miles. Since the air filter is rather expensive, I don't want to replace it prematurely. Can I please get some replies stating the number of miles forum members are riding before replacing their air filter?

Carl, a friend of mine who rides with our Meetup group Montco Riders is a programmer for Comcast and was as perplexed as I was at how bad the Zumo XT routing is for motorcycling even though it's "made" for just that. There are gps apps like Scenic that do a stellar job at finding twisties but you can't just export the gpz file and expect it to work in Zumo, it will just create it's own route from the waypoints given. So Carl figured out how to export the gpz files that will keep the original route. One thing he forgets to mention is that you need to have the Garmin Drive app installed on your phone. It's free in the app store.

I've been using this method the past couple of months and it works well. Added bonus is that although you can do this with all Zumo's, the XT uses bluetooth communication with the phone so it can be done on the fly. You can create a route in Scenic and send it to the XT while on the road (hopefully pulled over).

I've owned a 2014 Honda CB1100 for a week now. I've had a chance to talk to friends and family about it, show it off, ride 100 miles, do some maintenance, and think about ownership.

The phrase that resonates most with me is that:
"This is the motorcycle for someone who has nothing to prove"

Sport bikes and cruisers seem to be as much about what impression they make on others as the riding experience, whereas the UJM has always been about the essence of motorcycling, the elemental, unpretentious machinery and experience. Loud pipes, racy graphics and fairings... make an external impression.

Someone confident in who they are, who doesn't need social affirmation and isn't intimidated by the admonitions.

I've been surprised also by the rush to judgement by so many about the dangers of motorcycling. In this era of polarizing opinions and judgement, so many people assume you'll be dead soon and that they would never be allowed to get a motorcycle by their spouse or take the time to ride it, in deference to their marital or child-rearing responsibilities.

I'm glad to have found like-minded people on this forum... ride on!
