Life after giving up riding my bikes

A few months ago I gave up riding motor cycles after nearly 55 years of really enjoying bikes.
I have to admit that so far I do not miss them but I still see my riding buddies on the BRP but now in our new MINI Country Man , picture included for Peter , hopefully he will come and visit us one day.

Is it a recommendation for the ideal octane level percentage?

  2017 Tail light housing swap
Posted by: dogclerk_imp - 07-05-2022, 12:31 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - No Replies

Somehow the taillight base head boss (where the bolts seat) broke, part number 80120-MGC-JB0, (#5 here https://www.bike-parts-honda.com/honda-m...1/2/26944)
I'd like to install the popular lucas style taillight housing I've seen around here, but I'd also like to keep the stock LED bulbs. So I have 2 questions:

What is the distance between the lens bolt holes, so I can check if the LED bulb will be able to mount?
The led bulb wires do not exit their housing in the center, like the lucas housing expects. Has anyone had luck mating these two?

I got left turned on July 2 and crashed pretty hard. Bike may be totaled and I am heartbroken. Also in a fair amount of pain, but that should go away in a few weeks. All things considered, I am very lucky. Wear your helmets and leathers all the time.

I already started window shopping for a replacement and noticed the vast majority of available bikes are 2014s. Mine was a 2013 standard that I just loved. I dig the 5 speed. Don't think I want a 6. The 2013s out there generally had a higher asking price too. If you see any 2013 standards in the Northeast, think of me.

Stay safe everyone.

  wheel imbalance
Posted by: j3gq_imp - 07-03-2022, 03:48 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (7)

Would anyone have an idea how a wheel imbalance can (relatively quickly) increase from “not existing” to “serious” over just 1000 miles, IF you cannot see or feel any bumps or problems, not with the tire, not with the valve, not with the rim ?
Thanks for any (even the wildest) ideas !

  ... the perfect side-stand support ?
Posted by: j3gq_imp - 07-02-2022, 11:06 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (17)

Every now and then your main stand cannot be used (or you don't have one). And after arrival the ground seems too soft for the side stand, and there ain't no better place anyway. So you need to bring something on your trip that
- fits under the side-stand
- is solid and large enough
- fits in your luggage (ideally zero weight and volume)
- AND will not let the side-stand and eventually the motorcycle slip and slide.
How can this be found ? A ceramic tile, a stone, a tree trunk ? Remember, you are trying to square the circle, put a square peg ... into your saddle bag.

The part shown below you will find in every DIY shop, an end piece for a PVC drainage pipe, typically 10 or 11 cm in diameter (or similar diameter in the U.S.). It is extremely sturdy, weighs close to nothing and ... oh miracle, its effective volume is zero. Just fill it with socks, or a T-shirt.

Is this VIN number, correct or wrong?
Posted by: gsmman_imp - 07-02-2022, 10:15 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (14)

Hi gents, i have bought a CB1100 red, 4 engines to 2 exhausts, however the VIN is just simple

Is there any version of CB1100 which has this VIN number?
Thanks a lot.

Got back from N Dakota trip on the CB about an hour and a half ago. 2022 miles of riding in 9 days. I hit 9 states Oh, Ky, Ind, Ill, Wi, Minn, N Dak, S Dak, and Iowa. Had no idea Wisconsin had such nice roads. Wow, I was impressed with the roads in the Dells and Driftless areas. So I have now ridden in all of the lower 48 states. Mission finally accomplished after all these years, thanks to the friendship and help of Empty Sea, his lovely wife Cheryl, Offroad4x4, our friends Glen and Laura who provided accommodations a couple of nights on bookends of this trip to make it possible. THANKS GUYS AND GALS!!!!!

Full ride report to follow in a couple of days

Hey Everyone,
It's been a long time since I have been on here. Things are going good. A few of you know that I have bought myself a 2022 Goldwing. Well, I've been riding her a lot, misterprofessionality and I rode up to see The A-man. We did a little over 200 miles on the first day with some exceptional riding. I'm impressed by the Wing.
Don't worry though, not going to get rid of my CB. She's a blast to ride in the mountains. I won't be at the Rally for the first half, but I am hoping to get up there Thursday night.
Hope everyone is having a good summer.
Ken
