Then and now. Apache Junction et al.
Posted by: Pterodactyl_imp - 04-29-2014, 11:49 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (8)

G'day all,

In a recent thread the poster, and I apologise for not searching but it's not really relevant, made a reference to Apache Junction. Now that name, to this rather naive Aussie, conjured up memories of a host of gun fighters, drifters, cowpunchers, black hats, white hats, saloons and their women. In short, a blast from the silver screens of my past. From Alan Ladd to Clint Eastwood they sure did keep me saving my pennies, pardner, for the next episode of that low budget but cliff hanging serial or the next gun powder fuelled block buster.

Then only yesterday I came across this. Move over Clint, this seats taken by the Wild One.

Now, time to leave dark fantasy of the cinema and walk, dazed, into the bright, harsh, and often shocking sunlight of reality. Does that café, or diner, or it's iteration still exist? Maybe it's now a Walmart car park, or even a KFC. Do men, dressed in double breasted Brando jackets astride CB1100s and looking dangerous, still lounge around outside that diner at Apache Junction? Well I will never know until I see the pics.

Cheers

WARNING: This post contains traces of that area of brilliant ideas that exists in an ill-defined zone between the first and second bottle of full bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz.

Just watching our evening news. For those of you living in Tornado land, I sincerely hope that you, your families and friends are all OK

  The Slimey Crud
Posted by: Ole - 04-29-2014, 08:28 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (17)

I know there must be some Slimey Crud Runners in here. Spring event 2014 is Sunday. Who's going? I will be in Pine Bluff but am unsure about Leland. Too much work at home to do. Angry

The Sunday forecast has been rain but as of tonight they took the rain away. High in the low 50's. Should be a good run,,,,,

Your Humble Isle of Man TT Correspondent
Posted by: Capo - 04-29-2014, 07:22 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (18)

Friends, I've just had an article published on Motorcycle.com, and I invite all of your to check it out. It's a take on two very brave friends, Brandon Cretu and Graham English, who, against all odds, have competed in the Isle of Man TT and other challenging road races around the world.

And stay tuned, as I'll be covering aspects of the TT for Motorcycle.com this year via regular updates and short tales...some of them true.
Please check the story out, and share it as you see fit. Motorcycle.com is the most visited motorcycle site in the world now, with over 1 million unique readers every month. They've attracted some fantastic journalists (present company completely excepted), and are as up-to-the-minute on the world of motorbikes and sport as any magazine or site.

While I should just go to the TT every year and have fun, I can't help getting involved...marshal, video producer, now hack journalist!

  Parts from Samurider arrived!
Posted by: Papa Weeley_imp - 04-29-2014, 04:03 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (48)

I couldn't be more happy with the service I got from Mr. T at Samurider.
He responded immediately to my request for shipping info, I placed the order on Wed. the 23rd (my time), he shipped the 25th, and told me it could be 10 days for delivery...and instead I received parts yesterday the 28th (Monday!). Couldn't believe it.
And the communication at every point of the transaction was incredible. I was a little hesitant dealing with a multi-hundred-dollar purchase from overseas, but what a great buying experience! So glad I found this site, too, with all the great advice and on-going knowledge. Thanks to all here.

Just got my new matte black side covers on, and they look awesome, too - kind of a CBX-ish effect. Big Grin
Now on to installing the rest of the goodies!

  Beeswax for leather gear care?
Posted by: VTR1000F_imp - 04-29-2014, 12:43 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (14)

Do you guys use beeswax product to take care of your leather gear? I have a beeswax with added lanoline which I use for my belts and wallets care and I consider to use it on my leather jacket. I´m a bit afraid that it softens the leather too much..
