So, how is your year going, riding wise?
Posted by: the Ferret - 04-30-2014, 11:23 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (52)

January started off great for me with a 100 mile ST ride New Years Day. Then the weather went to heck and the only other time I got out that month was a CB ride on the 12th good for 27 miles. Total for the month 127 miles

February totally sucked with one ST ride on the 20th good for 55 miles.

March was a little better, I got out 8 times. I had traded in my CB so they were all ST miles..823 of them

April is now in the books..I got out 17 of the 30 days putting 47 miles on the Majesty, 641 on my new 14 dlx CB, and 903 on the ST for 1591 miles

total miles for the year so far 2596

Hope May is a good month

June will be big with a trip to Cali and back, and Sept will be big with a Lake Tahoe, Nevada tour with my wife, and a tour someplace with my brother and son, and my sons father in law (haven't picked location yet)

Kept my record for riding in every month of the year (barely)

OT: Swapping the Prius for a Man Card

Completely off topic, changed my mind about being a Prius driver and buying another 4x4 Tundra.

Well I guess it's not that off topic, in the sense that I'm finding it hard to put a CB1100 in the back of a Prius!

  2012 Triumph Street Triple R
Posted by: Sfomoto_imp - 04-30-2014, 11:04 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (8)

I own a 2012 Triumph Street Triple R which I owned about two years before I bought the Honda. It has a classic street bike feel without being too much of a crotch rocket. This past summer, we went from Florida to New Hampshire on the Triumph with nothing more than a tank bag and a Givi.

The Difference Between 5th and 6th Gear
Posted by: BugSpatteredJacket_imp - 04-30-2014, 06:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (19)

Afternoon,

I wanted to inquire if anyone can confirm if their is a substantial difference in savings regarding gasoline mpg between the 2013 5 speed CB 1100 and the 2014 6 Speed CB1100. According to Ferret he "actually got better gas mileage with the 13 than the 14 due to gearing and weight."

I know that generally the 6th speed does save on gas and is kinder to the engine but I reckon the prices of the 2013 will be hit hard in my neck of the woods as a result of the 2014 6th gear. So if there isn't that much of a savings, if at all, regarding 6th gear I'd just as happily save some money and get the 5 speed they have going for sell.

Thanks

P.S. FYI we only get the standard model, no deluxe in Canada! They did however throw us the 6th gear as compensation I guess. Undecided

Cozy vs. Tiro KO style seat?
Posted by: Papa Weeley_imp - 04-30-2014, 03:04 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (2)

I really like the CB750 KO style seats that Mr. T's got, and keep hearing raving reviews about the Cozy style here, but they've been out of stock since I first started looking at them. Looks like latest update shows early June availability.
I also noticed that he's got another similar seat by Tiro listed (which IS in stock), but I've never heard anyone here mention it. Any reason for that? Does anyone have any experience with them, or reasons to buy one over the other?
Thanks!

When it cures, I'll give it a little polish up and the Last Blast is (nearly) as good as new. Well, good enough for the Bush Mechanic. Rolleyes
