I just installed the 2014 Deluxe rear rack and top box I purchased from Takashi at Samurider. Excellent service, the order arrived in Seattle four days after I placed it!

The rack is built like the Brooklyn Bridge, and is a real pain in the rear to install, unless you happen to have six arms and very small fingers. Some use of The Persuader (rubber mallet) was required. The top box is a new design made just for the Deluxe, and is big enough for one full face helmet. The only installation glitch is that the Honda One Key design requires you to assemble the lock cylinder to match your key, and there are no instructions included so I shall have to consult a locksmith on that one.

Mom's Birthday so needed to head to Seascape, CA to meet for lunch. Weather report says 0% chance of precipitation... Good excuse for a 100 mile round trip over the mountain (17) and south on hwy 1
Half way up 17 it started to prove that the weather reports really are never right. Luckily I am wearing my leather so I stay relatively dry, the road is wet but we had a fair amount of rain last week so the road is not slippery. If you are not familiar with the area you will have to try to understand hwy 17, two lanes (in both direction) concrete divider mix of asphalt and concrete road surface. Lots of long sweeping corners, totally off camber and chunky. When you look at the divider you understand why its there, its beat to hell by weekend drivers that think they can negotiate these corners at 2X the speed limit in the wet. The road is a piece of cake on the CB, wet or not but always have to looking for the one idiot that has lost traction. that all being said got to Seascape with out any problems, stopped on the way home and took a couple shots of the sea.
any stories of riding in the wet or advice? I usually take the car when its wet (N Cal is usually dry) so other than slowing down don't have much experience in it.

Title may be a little misleading, because we were never really by the sea, but we did cross a river. No, this is about leading forum member Emptysea thru SW Ohio and Northern Kentucky. His group of 5 bikes, 6 riders were looking for good roads going from Chicago to Gatlinburg.

I just happened to live close to where he wanted to go and sorta volunteered to lead them on some good roads thru this area. Anyhow, I agreed to meet them for breakfast at a Bob Evans near their hotel, but of course I got there early so went straight to the hotel to find their group of bikes parked out front including Emptyseas's CB 1100 and Mrs Emptyseas CTX 700, plus a Wing, a new F6b, and an FJR and the group just beginning to stir. That's my ST "STarship" with the Xwing fighter on the nose.

I went to Bob Evans to get us a table and they soon joined me over a great breakfast where we got to know each other a little bit. After breakfast we went out and found the FJR rider had left some elect acc on and his battery was dead. The good news was, we knew what caused the dead batt, so a simple push and bump start and we were on our way. A good ride would let the alternator refresh the battery charge. The first 30 miles took us over slab

but we soon jumped off on "river road" St Rt 52 (also known as Grant Memorial Highway) in Ohio which runs from Cincinnati to West Virginia along the Ohio River

we then walked over to the house where 18th President Ulysses S Grant was born. It just happened to be his birthday.

As suspected the FJR started right up when we were ready to leave, and 25 miles up the road we caught the ferry which would transport us from the Ohio side over to the Kentucky side of the river (in this pic it is now Ohio in the background)

Once on the Kentucky side I lead them on some of my favorite playground roads...nothing but curves and very little traffic. I don't remember having anyone in front or behind us all day, just traffic coming from the opposite direction. At one intersection I stopped and walked back to Emptyseas bike and said "how was that road" and he said "that was AWESOME"

After a gas stop, we shot down Ky 27, thru horse farm country towards Paris Ky where they were to pick up RT 460.

Once at Paris, with well wishes for a safe and fun journey, I left our happy group as they headed toward points south, and I headed back north to the birthday party going on at my house without me. I got there just in time to enjoy some wonderful pork loin my wife had cooked, plus the cake and ice cream, and a much needed cup of hot tea. Total miles (for me) for the day was 289.

Question: Does anyone know of a nice quality aftermarket 4-into-1 system that looks a little more reminiscent
of the 4-into-1 header that was stock on Honda's little CB400F of the 70s? Would look sexy on a CB1100 IMO.

In looking through various threads on the forum, I don't see a lot of discussion about this...so I'm a bit reluctant to bring it up, because I don't want anybody to think I'm badmouthing the bike...

...but I've now adjusted the forks to the softest possible setting, and set the tire pressure a bit below the recommended value, and I still feel like my front suspension is excessively stiff. (I weigh 225, btw.) More than just firm--almost "bouncy." Enough that it takes effort to ride smoothly over even mild pavement irregularities, because it sends enough shock through the bars to cause unintentional throttle movements. In all the riding I've done (22 years, 8 bikes, ~ 150,000 miles), I've never experienced this before. For a while I thought maybe I was imagining things...but then I rode it back to back with my K1300S set to "sport" mode--which is pretty darn stiff--and the Honda was stiffer.

So what am I doing wrong? I've got four bars showing on the fork adjusters--which, unless I'm misreading the manual, is as soft as it gets. Should I be adjusting in the other direction for some reason? Is it possible there's some kind of issue with the forks? (Can they be set up improperly by the dealership?) Or am I just being a wimp?

Anyway, I'd appreciate any insights or suggestions you guys might have.

If you do your own work on jap bikes it's best to have a set of JIS .(Japanese Industrial Standard) if you notice that when we use USA type screw drivers they tend to cam out! ( slip) strip out the head snap on Mac craftsman ace all brands are made to cam out! The JIS want strip or can out. Trust me you can tell a big difference with these screw drivers. I just got a set about a year ago. I got the #1 #2 #3 Phillips work great you can buy them on eBay, amazon etc. Goggle them and read why the USA screwdriver is made to cam out ! Japs win hands down! Hope this helps some one.

wondering if we could place all our tail light options in this thread.
After simplifying my plate mount, I suddenly realized how big and bulbous looking our stock tail light is...:-(

I would like to replace it with a smaller , closer to fender mount, and preferably without replacing the fender.
I see this one on Samurider but don't know if it requires a different fender too...

Threw an Easter Basket on the back of the CB1100, and attended my favorite ride of the year. It's so special because you get to see the joy it brings and hang with the kids! Threw this lil video together with the footage I grabbed. Hang to the end to see some sweet and adorable smiles!

Today it was really nice weather so l was able to ride about 100 miles on my DLX.All I can say is WOW this is a really nice bike.Now if the seat was not like sitting on brick
