Just picked this up today for $900 with a title and runs. It's a '78 GS750. One family bike all its life w/15k miles. Will probably return it to stock although having a fairing with a cigarette lighter in it is pretty awesome. Was repainted in the original black at some point and the stripes are not OEM, so will probably put the correct replica blue decal stripes on it. The old guy I bought it from says a neighbor has a blue '77 just like it and he might be interested in selling it to me. That one is a one-owner w/12k miles on it. Can probably get it for a little over $1k. I've got to stop buying old bikes, it just doesn't make sense when you have a CB1100. I think I need help.

I had a chance today to take some time and go over the bike. I was amazed how we'll balanced and easy it came off the side stand. Seat is wide but in the riding position its very comfortable. I have a test ride on Monday when the owner will be in, but have a question.

Getting my foot under the shifter was difficult. The service manager was busy and the salesman was lets just say not very knowledgeable. Can and have you made adjustments or added any modification to the gear shifter.

I just opened an account on their forum but can not read or post yet, but noticed this topic has come up.

I had a chance to get in 200 miles today on the new flash. Its very important to me to be as honest as possible. I rode at what i would consider a normal pace highway and back roads.

There are small gains in the lowers gears, but no night and day difference. Would i consider it worth the flash for just normal pace ridding?? NO

There is a bit less drive lash but only people that are on off throttle would notice.

Those who want the limiter gone its we'll worth the flash for other i don't think so.

I don't want members (friends) flashing there bikes only to say it was not worth it.

This is my humble honest opinion.

I haven't been able to ride much the last 2 weeks but decided to work on my Street Shield this morning. I was surprised when I took the cover off my beauty and found the rubber of my 5 month old gaiters was torn and cracking. I don't have a garage so I have to park my bike outside. I always keep her under a heavy duty Nelson Rigg cover. It seems like the heat from the sun has been enough to erode the gaiters.

I ordered these gaiters from British Customs and have only ridden about 2k miles since I put them on.

First my mirror color changed from black to brown, now my gaiters have died...sheesh...

Appologies to the youngsters here (those younger than 40..), but I've
seen too many comments of late talking about how 'this will be my last
bike', or 'I might ride just 5-6 more years', etc. You get the drift.
So, I thought maybe us old guys should hash out this important
question. I'm 58, and started riding 42 years ago when I was 16...
on a dirt bike. I bought and sold 5 bikes until at age 25 I left the hobby
to raise a family. 11 years ago, I got back in and have already bought
5 bikes, keeping 3 of them. I plan on riding as long as I can earn
a license. 80 years old??? Why not? As long as I can see and have
good reaction time, again... why not. I might consider a CanAm or
a trike if I'm afraid of dropping the bike. What are you going to do??? I bet I buy 4-6 more bikes by then.... Who knows? I love my CB... it's staying. But the Harley will go someday to be replaced by a bigger touring bike (maybe a RoadGlide) and who knows what I'll do with the KLR. What will you do? I never see a time
in the future where I don't have a bike!

OK, I'm just going to say it....how hard is it to gut the factory muffler.
Of all the slipons, none look any better than the Honda muffler so I'm just thinking about totally gutting it since I read drilling some holes doesn't help.
Has anyone attempted it? Techniques? Tools? Residue?
I plan on re-installing the end cap.

Left work early today and grabbed the 92 over to Half Moon Bay, then south on 1 to Pescadero and had a bowl of artichoke soup at Duartes, then up the hill to 84 and home
just under 2 hour trip.
Ran into a guy on a late 70's CB750 pulling a "bob trailer" very clean bike, sorry forgot to get a photo.

I was just noticing how the forum was gaining new members with startling pace since the new machines were on sale.

This is weird. Don't ask me why but I happened to check out the Victory Forum this afternoon just for the heck of it. The members there are all freaking out. It seems that most of their 2014 bikes with the 106 engine that were built the last few months have been recalled.

They are saying the crankshaft clearances are faulty and the engine can seize at any time without warning! Victory, to their credit, is scrambling trying to inform all buyers through whatever means possible telling everybody to stay off the bike and have it trailered to the dealer for service. Most of these guys only have a few hundred miles on their bikes and are pretty upset.

I guess this is a good reminder for all of us to remain vigilant in doing research and checking every so often to make sure everything is kosher with our bikes.
