  Just a romp after work
Posted by: gary_imp - 04-24-2014, 12:32 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (17)

Went for a sanity ride after a long day. It's still a little cold and wet around but the CB made all that disappear, what a joy to ride.

  Break in period
Posted by: PilotPaul_imp - 04-24-2014, 11:36 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (49)

I'm not sure if this should have been put in the mechanical section so I'm sorry if should have. Anyway I am about to roll over 400 miles on my bike and I just wanted to get some input about the break in period.

So far I have been very gentle with her. I've been on the freeway a few times only been to 80mph a few times and haven't gone over 4k on the tach very much at all. Today however the itch was just too much and I opened her up a bit but not bad. I didn't really get over 5k by much. I couldn't help it.....okay I did it one other time a few days ago. My question is...is that okay?

the little things I've done to my deluxe so far

Stickers gone, reflectors gone, nice billit tag frame, adjusted shifter up, checked air pressure, but the best thing yet-mine is now a 6 cylinder, thanks to my nifty little aluminun piston tire valve caps and I think it feels way more powerful than stock! LOLBiker
darn I forgot the very first thing my thingies!

  seeking elipten's help
Posted by: shdwghst457_imp - 04-24-2014, 06:02 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (18)

I’m finally around the 600 mile mark (I probably have fewer miles on my bike than anyone on this forum!) so I’m looking for your input on what to do. I can go to 35 North Honda between SA and Austin, or pay you in a combination of beer, money, and assistance. Are you still on board for helping me out with this?

Thought of you when I saw this, Ferret.

You can track your fill-ups and gas mileage on there using the app or sending a text (if you're one to think smartphones aren't all that smart).

Took delivery of my 2014 CB1100A yesterday
Posted by: Rocky_imp - 04-23-2014, 09:49 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (30)

It was only 7C (45F), foggy and damp, but I rode my 2014 home yesterday. Because of the temp and the weather I only rode a loop of 32 km (20 miles). Mid-morning traffic was heavy and I never did get above 80 kph (48 mph), but it was enough to get a sense of the bike; very smooth; good brakes; shifts beautifully and the EFI is not at all abrupt.
Spring weather here has been cold and wet and it's that way for a few more days so I won't have anything else to report for a while.
I'm just happy to have "baby" home where i can look at it and play VROOM VROOM Big Grin

  Cleaning Chrome Headers
Posted by: DAC - 04-23-2014, 12:55 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (7)

I've already got some bug guts on the chrome headers of the Deluxe. I spot cleaned a bit of it with Original Bike Spirits and it worked fine. Before I go at the rest of the pipes, I want to know from more experienced members if that's okay. This is the first bike I've had with chrome header pipes and I don't want to do something that will discolor them when they heat up.

Thanks!

  Type of fuel injection system?
Posted by: dave - 04-23-2014, 11:40 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (3)

Do any of you guys know if the fuel injection system on our CB1100s is "open loop" or "closed loop"? I don't see an oxygen sensor in the exhaust system so I am assuming it is "open".

Thank you.

These are 1970 honda cb750 NOS emblems had to drill 2 holes in each side cover they sell these same emblems aftermarket but they don't have the HM below the wings. Mine have HM on them. I know the eBay guy that sells cb750 oem NOS parts [Image: 56f0e66cf3e28b10959244a76ef61747.jpg]
