Does anyone here have a garage remote on the CB? I'm about to buy a garage door opener for the sole purpose of not getting off the bike to get in and out, and I'm researching methods of installing the remote on the bike. Internet is full of custom fab job ideas, but I was wondering if anyone has maybe a handlebar mounted button for the task.

After reading a few other threads on what they did, I tried a quick method that may not be as sophisticated or engineered as well, but it works.
First one I just cut from a plastic lid, painted black, bought 4 bolts, 2 to mount the mount, and 2 to mount the plate to the mount and drilled the 4 holes..
Below shows original and black cut out with 4 holes from metal.

And on the bike, I painted 2 of the bolts black since they show using this cheap/quick method.

Please excuse me if this has been covered, I couldn't find it by searching.

I need the torque settings for;

1) The oil drain plug

2) The oil filter.

For the oil filter. What size filter socket fits?

Oh also, warm engine, hot engine or cold engine?

My reasoning is, hot engine - thin oil with all the crap in suspension, but maybe it's cold oil settled to the drain plug area with all the crap in?

I was always told by people that suzuki has the slickest shifting transmissions, and they are pretty nice, but man this new CB's trans is the best I have ever experienced.This DLX is just a pleasure to ride! Way to go Honda

One of my buddies just bought one of these. 115 hp Rotax engine ect...
He has not been on a motorcycle in 30 years. When last seen riding he was bailing off of a 1976 Honda 750 into a ditch when a dump truck pulled out in front of him. Skinned him up pretty good but the motorcycle took minor damage and started right back up. I was right behind him when all of this happened on a CB650 Custom.

Anyway, 2 wheels is out for him for good but he wanted to get back into it and felt comfortable with one of these. He will let me ride it when he gets it. I am just wondering if any of you guys have ever ridden one or know anything about them? Always good to see a guy get back into riding. He is wearing me out for information about everything motorcycle related now which is pretty cool.

Just picked up my bike the other day. It now has 100 miles on it. I have noticed from time to time an issue with downshifting. I don't always downshift one gear at a time. Sometimes I coast to a red light with the clutch in And downshift through all the gears to first. But sometimes with the clutch in, The gear indicator on the instrument panel will go from indicating whatever gear I was in to just showing a dash line (-) and I can't get down to a lower gear without letting the clutch out a little and then starting over with the downshift.
Is anyone else noticing a similar problem?

Hi guys, new guy here. I don't have a CB1100, but I'm considering one, and hoped I might run a few things by you.

I currently own and ride two motorcycles, a 2006 Honda 599 and a 2008 Harley Sportster 1200 Custom. They are very different, and I like them both for what they are.

I'd really like to have ONE motorcycle in my garage that splits the difference between these two, or at least incorporates some of my favorite things about each. Could it be that the CB1100 fits the bill?

Here's what I like about each:

599:

Sporty looking
Fast. Tons of power - although at the high RPM range
Great suspension and excellent handling
Naked
Riding position is almost upright, not crouched like a crotch rocket
Great brakes

Sportster:

Lots of low end torque
Simple air-cooled engine
Low maintenance belt drive
No-maintenance hydraulic lifters
Easier than the 599 on the highway at speed
Not the best handler, but fun even at low speeds

Basically, I want a commuter, that's fun to ride at slow speed cruising, on the highway, and in the twisties . I don't expect sportbike type handling, but nimble handling is a plus. I'd like something with low end power that I don't have to rev to 13k to wring all the power out.

I'm also looking at the Honda CTX700N. I've sat on both, and appreciate the ergonomics of both. I haven't taken either out for a test drive yet. Long story, I wanted to try them at the Spring Launch event today, but couldn't. I've been riding for about a year and haven't gotten around to upgrading from "Learner's Permit" to full endorsement. Time to go do that... Anyway, I'm not sure the 700 will have the type of power I'm used to.

I know that only I can tell if it's the right bike for me. But until I get around to getting the full endorsement in the coming weeks so I can take a dang test ride, humor me will you? What do you think, will the CB1100 meet the expectations I've set out for it?

i am willing to fit my CB1100 2013 with some kind of steering damper,
so far the only option seems to be a pretty expensive ohlins rotary one,
i have searched the forum and the web but can not find anything else.
Tips? Ideas?
