  What I don't like about the CB1100
Posted by: Mr Jangles_imp - 08-06-2014, 10:35 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

It lets cagers abuse me, why it's so quiet and silky smoooooth, they don't even know I'm beside them. Unlike my Harley I traded for my CB, cagers froze and stayed put Till I MADE MY WAY past them and my bike was not that loud, but you can feel when a hog is nearby. Oh and I miss the self cancelling turn signals (boo hoo) too, but hey fugedabowdit all in all this is the best CB of the 2 others I've owned not to mention the most reliable and fun to ride bike I've ever owned. OK nuff said, I'm going riding now....

  Oiling chain

How often do you oil the chain under normal operation. More than in the service manual or less.

  Silly little detail..but nice
Posted by: Insolentsquid_imp - 08-06-2014, 08:31 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

I have a 2014 EX (DLX) in black, which has a beautiful glitter effect in sunlight.

So, the colour scheme is black/silver (or deep chrome); classy, but a little monochromatic.

Clearly a designer at Honda felt that it would be against the laws of nature for a Honda to leave the factory without a touch of red (or possibly white and/or blue)

Looking closely at the tank badge, I notice that the centre of the badge's otherwise black background is in fact a very deep, dark red.

Look at the tiny replica of the badge on the key, and it's exactly the same.

Pointless, barely noticeable, and I'm sure costly, but sooo nice as evidence of the attention to detail that has gone onto this bike.

Interesting to hear what they've done with other colour (color) schemes.

  Dream Big, My Son

When I was a young man I dreamed of world peace, an end to poverty, hunger, and ignorance. And I dreamed of that someday, my motorcycle would be powered by the miracle of bacon.

Bacon. Pure, sweet, greasy bacon.

Honestly, I miss my '13 tank
Posted by: Vossero_imp - 08-05-2014, 06:41 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (19)

You know, on my 13 CB, i loved the tank and shape. When I got my DLX i love my larger tank, but when i see pics of the 13 tank, I'm just like...hell yea that looks sick!

That is all.

  Hot Hot Heat
Posted by: AzBob_imp - 08-05-2014, 03:47 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

The last two times I've ridden my CB (25 miles one-way, and 54 miles one-way), I've basically gotten the insides of my thighs cooked (my skin was red and it was very uncomfortable after about 20 minutes).

Now, it has been very hot out, as it usually is in southern Arizona during summer (> 108*F), so that's probably a contributing factor, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Coming back from the last go 'round, I couldn't wait to get off the bike. The CBR gets really hot, too, but the heat wafts up from the engine at stops, not while riding.

I don't sit particularly close to the tank, however I do keep my knees pinned to the tank as much as possible because it affords better control of the upper body. Both trips were mostly highway @ ~70mph most of the time. I filled the tank before coming back last time, because I've noticed in the past that cool gasoline in the tank does a decent job of insulating me from heat, but that didn't matter this time. At no time did the engine oil overheat light come on, so I have to imagine the engine was within normal operating parameters with regard to temperature. I'm guessing the engine is making the tank very hot, since that's the only thing my legs are touching. This is the first time I'm noticing this, but I don't recall how often I rode in the extreme heat last summer, if at all.

Thoughts?

  Red Welts on Corbin Seat

This is the seat on my 2013 CB1100 with the red welts, many people have commented how nice the red looks with the rest of the bike.
I also have a similar one on my 2014 but without the flap on the back for a back rest, I never have a passenger.
If any one is interested in this seat it is for sale for $350 and I pay shipping. I would than order another one without the flap.
If not I just keep it , I really like the Corbin seats on all of my bikes.

Well I just found this forum the other day, shortly after having received my all new CB1100EX. I thought I would share a couple of photos as I understand that models are a little bit different depending on the market.

Here in Switzerland we have for 2014 like in the US a standard version which is only available in black. Mine however is an EX model which corresponds to your DLX. However, I understand you only get the DLX in red, whereas here we also get it in white or black. So, mine is the black model:

  A fuel thread
Posted by: Cormanus - 08-04-2014, 03:16 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (14)

Although I feel a bit of a fraud posting in the Mechanical and Technical section of the forum, I'm avoiding something I don't want to do. We also haven't had an oil thread for a bit and tyres seem overdone lately, so we need something to go on about.

So [url=http://motorbikewriter.com/ethanol-suitable-motorcycles/?utm_source=eNewsletter&utm_campaign=814bac95cc-Newsletter_05_08_14&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_56c494aeb6-814bac95cc-181353029&ct=t(Newsletter_05_08_14)]here's a link to an article to get the fuel experts going.

  Touring screen for road comet
Posted by: Lambotte_imp - 08-04-2014, 01:15 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (7)

So I've come to my senses and have decided to keep this wonderful bike. I cannot make the national cycle shield work. The noise is simply horrendous. I do have the road comet and have given thought to buying the touring screen. Does anyone have first person experience with this? How's the protection, noise and turbulence? Samurider sells it separately so I have a source.

Thanks.
