Touring screen for road comet - Lambotte_imp - 08-04-2014

So I've come to my senses and have decided to keep this wonderful bike. I cannot make the national cycle shield work. The noise is simply horrendous. I do have the road comet and have given thought to buying the touring screen. Does anyone have first person experience with this? How's the protection, noise and turbulence? Samurider sells it separately so I have a source.

I'm running the touring screen, seems to work better than the standard low screen but you will have more shaking of the entire fairing. I solved that by adding some small hard neoprene pads to the top edges of the instruments to fill the gap with the edge of the fairing body. Another member on the forum suggested that solution and it's simple and works.

I seemed to have picked up a buzz in the fairing somehow with the change but that really doesn't make sense since I can notice it at idle as well as at speed, maybe the change in the weight of the screens makes the fairing buzz.

Overall it looks pretty good and works well enough without buffeting but like usual your situation may differ.

I took my comet fairing off to remove the headlite and install a Osram 65/70 bulb. after reassembly during my ride a very loud buzz was coming from the headlite/fairing area. inspection revealed harness connectors inside the headlite rattleing against the shell. I removed the shell and lined it with plumbing insulation tape 1/8"thick 2"wide sticky on just one side. no more buzz from the shell or fairing.

Thanks for Paul, found the irritating buzz in the headlight shell due to the wiring connectors rattling against the plastic headlight shell.

For mine I think it was the red connector laying on the bottom of the shell since it's pretty loose and there were rub marks on the inside of the shell.

Used some thin foam packing sheets to wrap that connector plus the big bundle of connectors and wires running across the top of the headlight shell.

Started it up in the garage and no more buzz!
