  new guy question
Posted by: gossman_imp - 08-13-2014, 01:11 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (22)

I rode the CB bikes in the mid 70s to the mid 80s, last was a CB650 bought off the dealer floor. Went through the adventure bike phase and in the last decade went to the cruiser bikes. Never a favorite of mine, I always pined for another CB. Well I am looking at a dealer where they have a '13 CB 1100 ABS demo on the floor. Clean, 9k miles, new BattleAxe tires, 1 year Honda warranty. $7999 out the door. Wouldn't know that the bike was a Honda demo at all by looking at it. I've been on the '14 model and the suburban and back roads I drive wouldn't make the 6speed tranny a must, especially since my recent bike was a 5 speed. I'm just a 55 year old fat guy reliving my earlier days. So, what's the overall opinion on this suggested ride?

  CB1100 Project F

I don't recall seeing mention of this here on the forum. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Big Grin )

For all of you early 80's era F-series fans. They did a pretty nice job with this conversion...

There are other videos out there with footage of this bike.

Riding on grooved or milled pavement?
Posted by: meowguy_imp - 08-13-2014, 12:19 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (18)

So I had my first experience on grooved (milled) pavement and I absolutely did not like it. I found I could maybe handle 35 or 40 mph, but anything more was just too uncomfortable. Then later that day it started raining and I followed a Harley (from my truck) that was clocking 50 mph on wet grooved pavement.

So what's the deal. Am I chicken or was the Harley pilot crazy?

Has anyone installed a front fork brace? And do you notice any difference in the handling? Thanks..

  TomTom GPS vs Garmin
Posted by: HikerToo_imp - 08-12-2014, 10:20 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (19)

I saw this new motorcycle specific TomTom Rider MSRP of $400
http://www.tomtom.com/en_us/products/you...highlights
That compared to the outrageously expensive Garmin Zumo's which go from $600 to $800
I know iPhones have GPS functions, but a dedicated GPS is always nicer to use...plus the one for our car needs to replaced...
Anyone have thoughts or experience on either the TomTom Rider or Garmin Zumo's?
