Looks like I am going to have to replace mine soon on my 750. I will not be patronizing my local Honda stealership so I wanted to ask you guys what brand I need to get and where to get them online if possible. Appreciate any advice here and want to put something back on at least as good as what came on the bike. Thanks.

Finally got around to installing the Honda Type 2 bars on the CB (they are a factory option available in Japan, and I ordered them from Takashi).

Following Chip Beck's thoughtful instructional thread, the process took longer than expected, as the rubber bushings for anti- vibe weights both got stuck in the bars and required a good deal of fishing to get out. And there really is a lot of stuff mounted in the CB's bars to begin with.

That being said, this is the best mod I've done to the CB yet. The Type 2 bars are lower, narrower and with slightly less pull back. But they are by no means extreme. The slight forward cant of the back provides excellent comfort and more weight over the front wheel. The narrower bars 'shrink' the whole bike, and make it seem more compact. A clear improvement in control and comfort for me, your results may vary. But, I Love these bars.

I'm thinking about buying a CB1100DLX, and would like to know if anyone here has done the wire wheel conversion. I've found one source in Japan (Samurider.com) that offers wire wheels by Honda and also Excel. They appear about the same, although the Excel ones seem to cost more. (evidently they are made up bespoke, so to speak )

Has anyone done this to date? My concerns are that I don't want to disable the ABS on the bike, nor screw up the warranty if I can avoid it. I know that Honda sells the CB1100 in other markets with wire wheels, so it's not like I would be.... well.... reinventing the wheel.

I had managed to align some business trip with a weekend in some nice locations in Europe. I visited some areas in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Italy and Czech Republic (sorry VTR1000F, it was only one day – next time it will be longer). I rode some alpine passes in the Alpen-Adria region with many nice turns and curves. Some of them above 2.000 m high, very small streets. The roads sometimes even went from blacktop to gravel to dirt. Now I am sure; our bike can do nearly everything.

Starting in Hamburg I first went to middle Germany (Harz), then to Munich and passing Salzburg to Carinthia. Staying there for some days I explored the alpine passes near the near the border triangle Austria, Italy, Slovenia. After a short visit to Graz I went back to Germany with a short side trip to Czech Republic…..it was wonderful .

I'm asking if anyone has put additional front lighting on their CB? I haven't seen it mentioned in the farkles/accessories section. Some of you have commented about people pulling out in front of you and various other near misses. I realize people will say it will ruin the retro look of the bike, but I ask this question purely from a safety standpoint.

A couple of years ago I bought a used BMW RT-P, the police model. In PD use it has two front facing large round red and blue emergency lights mounted just above the handlebars. The PDs remove the emergency lights when they auction the bikes off, and the buyer who I bought from used those mounting points and put on there two PIAA driving lights. I began to notice that absolutely NOBODY cut me off or turned left in front of me. I have since put Denali driving lights mounted on the front fenders of subsequent bikes I purchased and notice at least a 75% decline in near misses.

So I just got my CB1100 and I noticed that the shifting feels very heavy. I shifting any gear I can hear it in my helmet. Just sorta feels like I'm shifting a tank! Is this normal? If so fine, but the shifter feedback is quite heavy and notchy. Clutch engagement is buttery and nice, though it will slip on hard shifts if I don't throw the clutch out super quick. Not a huge deal, my fault. Thanks in advance!
