This bike had such promise to be a one bike does it all choice for me. It is basically a Hypermotard with bags, windscreen, and a center stand. The new 821 motor is incredible. Power everywhere and it makes all the right noises. Stock exhaust cans make some nice noise and it snorts and cracks when you downshift. Where it all falls apart, aside from the price, is the ergonomics. The seat is very confining and it locks you in so far forward close to the bars. It actually makes it hard to turn the bars and feels very awkward.

If they put this motor into a more sport touring oriented bike, they'd have something. Heck, is they'd offer a flatter profile seat, it might work better. It was still fun and I never turn down a free test ride.

The inaugural LionsTT was scheduled to run over the first weekend in October 2014. Pterodactyl and I became founding members in June or July and I went on the July founders ride. Pterodactyl couldn't make that weekend, but we managed another ride along the road and other parts of NSW during August.

The first part of my ride wasn't exciting: straight down the main highway to the Gold Coast where I was to meet an old acquaintance I hadn't seen for at least 35 years. We had an unmemorable lunch (turkey, brie and cranberry sandwiches lightly toasted) in a chain café on Southport's trendy Tedder Street.

I cleared out about 1330 and set off towards the Gold Coast hinterland so I could ride through Natural Bridge, Chillingham and Murwillumbah on my way to Kyogle. I'd been the other way across that road earlier in the year and really enjoyed it. A few straight bits, lots of twisties, a spectacular view as you cross the border from Queensland into NSW, and then the final winding road around the hills leading to Kyogle. I find the south of the Border Ranges amongst the prettiest bits of Australia and the quality of the roads means that riding a bike here is bliss. Even though the surface on the final bit of the Murwillumbah-Kyogle road leaves a bit to be desired, it's still a hell of a lot of fun.

It was a glorious day and I had a glorious ride, arriving in Kyogle just after 1600 to find Pterodactyl enjoying his first beer at the Commercial Hotel—for some reason a favourite Australian pub name.

We set up camp under a tree at the Kyogle Showgrounds, parked the CBs under cover, and returned to the Commercial for very ordinary beer-battered flathead and chips. There was no Shiraz! On the way home we stopped at the Exchange Hotel (another perennial Australian pub name) for a cleansing ale. There was an acceptable band playing.


Sleep was not hard.

Doesn't seem real snug...so I tighten it a little more(around 90). But it got me to wondering if you can bend the swingarm by over tighting. My other bikes the nuts seemed much tighter.

I have a 2014 Deluxe and just added a Dart screen. Problem is, the top two fasteners just slightly touch the gauges, which vibrates the screen and creates an annoying buzz at higher revs.

For those with screens, how much clearance do you have between the fasteners and gauges? Thanks in advance.

Here's a story about a hat. I thought I had lost this hat, but today I decided to purge the dozens of hats, caps really, that were littering my closet, our coat rack, my work area, even the laundry room. These hats had served their purpose and now were just collecting dust over the sweat marks and paint and grease splatters. They were just hats. In the course of The Great Hat Purge of 2013, I narrowed my collection to about ten caps and found THE Hat, which had been missing for months.

The Hat has NSI (an insurance company) embroidered on it. I'm not sure if you can tell in the pictures, but the inside is close to its original color, navy blue. The outside, is weathered, faded, sweated, and aged to a silver-gray. Only the stitching on the seams retain something close to the original color.

The Hat has covered my own fading and aging head on numerous family camping trips, with my brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, to Wisconsin and Michigan. It has been to Florida for a multi-family spring break This hat has been fly fishing in southwest Wisconsin with my fishing guru and friend Andy, on motorcycle rides with my wife and sailing with family members on Green Bay. It was on perched on my head when my daughter scored a goal against her biggest rival in water polo. But mostly the hat is The Hat because it protected my head on a week long kayak/camping trip with my son, Justin and other Boy Scouts and dads in the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior and again with mostly the same young men on a Boy Scout sailing trip called "Sea Base" in Florida.

The Hat has been on my head at some point on nearly every extended motorcycle trip I have taken. It has traveled under my bike seat or in my tank bag on some of the greatest roads in the United States..Stagecoach Trail in Illinois, C9Y in Iowa, Kettle Moraine Drive in Wisconsin, KY89 in Kentucky, US129 in Tennessee, Cherohala Skyway in North Carolina. The Hat accompanied me on 3 all-day Solstice Rides, on the Moonshine Lunch Run, On a group ride to the Smokies, for lunch with my friend Kelly, and for my solo ride back to Chattanooga for his funeral. The Hat has traveled through at least 16 states, all but a handful on motorcycle trips.

The Hat reminds me of family, friends, teamwork, watching my son become a man, and most of what is great about my life. What the devil it was doing wedged in the back of my closet is beyond me.

Sorry about another exhaust thread but I've looked all through the site as much as I could and not found very much info on the Yoshi full system . Anyone running one of these ? The Yoshimura tech people said you don't have to use a fuel management system with it . I don't mind if it is somewhat quiet or you don't gain very much power , I like the look of it .Thanks everyone

Hello everyone. I commute on my bike to work here in Georgia. I ride in an area that is very heavily populated with deer. Now that the time has changed, I am riding home in the dark through mostly heavily wooded areas. I know the flash to pass switch turns on the high beam when you have headlight switch on low beam, has anyone made the low beam and high beam come on on high and the low beam come on as usual on low beam? The headlight is great on this bike, but I find if I am on low beam and hold in the flash to pass switch at night, it is even better. Any comments on how to combine high and low, and how many watts of power would be used, and if it would be safe on the wiring to have high and low on together. Thanks for any input.

I've been looking for a tourer and found this one in my back yard. Has anyone owned a similar BMW or have knowledge of this inline four banger. I have never owned a BMW, this bike is real clean. I'm going down to look at it today and will set up a test ride if the seat height and position feels right.

Edit: Appears to be damage on the rear brake pedal as we'll as the plastic or rubber fairing guard. Maybe its just the pic but if someone does not take the time to replace that i wonder what else is going on
