Winter is arriving now, but we had very nice days last month, one of october week-ends we had a memorable ride toward a famous old castle in Savoie : Miolans fortress, between Chambery and Albertville. I have often seen it from far away, passing in the valley by the motorway, but it is worth having a closer look, and also the small roads around it are worth motorbike touring, passing through vineyards and gently turning up and down on the mountain sides. About 50 miles from home (near by Grenoble), Miolans was a good waypoint for a half-day ride.

Then we visited the place - no more weapons nor jails there, but gardens

I thought I was ok with the bronzing of my down pipes and I would have been if it was a uniform discoloration. I think it was someone here who described it as age spots. Well, that's what I'm seeing on mine now. I read and saw photos here as well describing and showing how well that Optiglanz stuff works so I decided to order a bottle myself. I got it today! I hope to apply it tomorrow and I'll share my experience with the stuff.
Of course, I read that it works so much better on the CB750 than on the CB1100. Kidding ferret, just kidding...

Wow two people died this week in my town on motorcycles. Check it out. One died Friday on the freeway lane splitting between a semi and a civic he was knock off the bike and under the semi... Ouch!!!
Last night a solo rider hit a curb was ejects and knocked down a light pole!!! Died later at the hospital.
I'm being extra cautious lately. This is unusual to have this many accidents in 3 days.
My Fiance and Family are all super worried about me riding now. I assure them I am safe but this is getting annoying we all understand the dangers of riding and do out best to be safe.

I was back home in Ga. last week and rode both my Superglide and my KLR over the weekend. I couldn't beleive how 'heavy' the front end felt on my HD. it really took some getting used to but after a while it was no big deal as I put some miles and time on the bike. Fast forward to this weekend and I'm out on the CB for the first time in about a month and wow...I can't believe how well 'balanced' this motorcycle is. The front end feels light and the bike felt extremely 'flick-able', not like a sport bike, but like how a full sized street motorcycle ought to feel. Now I hope this doesn't turn in to a Harley bashing thread (I love my HD and the Motor Company for all sorts of reasons) but I can't beleive the difference between the two machines. Between the sound of the engine, the smoothness of the gearbox, and the overall 'feel' the motorcycle delivers to the rider...WOW! Beauty and Balance is what defines this particular motorcycle. But of course...we all already knew that...right?

A couple of weeks ago I picked up my DLX having traded in my 2013. Today was the first chance I had to put some good miles on the Bike. Using the excuse of taking my daughter to brunch I headed off from Atlanta to Athens, GA. Although a little chilly first thing in the morning it was a beautiful day - somewhere in the mid-60 degrees F. A round trip (not the most direct route) of about 180 miles, some highway, some around the town and much of it in the country roads and hills of North Georgia - with a great brunch in downtown Athens - home of the University of Georgia. If you haven't hung out in Athens, GA it is full of excellent places to eat and drink - well worth a visit. The North Georgia countryside is spectacular - I am a transplant from the UK and I love the South. It seems like everyone over the age of 40 has a bike - not only are there many many bikers trolling around the roads but all car drivers appears to pretty used to motorcycles everywhere. Very polite drivers in my riding experience.
The DLX was awesome - as you would expect me to say. Comfortably cruising or zipping around as I tried to be respectful of the break in period. I have a magnetic tank bag and a couple of small Rocket sidebags for odd and ends - but a very enjoyable scoot around on a sunny Sunday. Just a perfect day.
My only downside which is probably me being me out of shape was the seat. I found the saddle a bit firm - 100 miles and I was ready for a backside breather - so to speak. I'd be curious to know if the seat will break in after a while (if others have ridden with the stock saddle for a couple of thou) - or if an upgrade is recommended by the forum members. I really like the DLX stock seat design - but wish it was a bit more comfy for my old and tired butt. I am really hoping either the seat or my backside will break in so I am enjoy many more days on this masterfully designed motorcycle.
