I ordered a new chic design cafe type seat from webike and a chic design short fender to go with it. I was given free shipping because I spend over a certain amount and was very happy about it. I received my package in a very timely manner and was very happy about that. Then the problem occurred. I unboxed my new toys to find out that they packaged the two together in the same box and really stuffed the fender down to make it fit into one box. Upon unboxing them I noticed that the two pointed edges on the fender poked through the packing material and into the seat which made two very large deep markets on the seat cover where you sit. Thank god it didn't puncture the cover. The left side mark went away in about a day but three days later the mark on the left side was not going away. I was po'd. I contacted the company and they appoligized but then stated asking me if it was the shipping companies fault and went in and on with emails asking me to photo document exactly how every bit and piece was packed and did I undo everything and to put it all together to see how tpwhat was touching what and so on and so on. Now I'm saying to myself since this a me from japan how much of a pia this is going to be to send it back, will they cover all the shipping costs and how long that will take. I don't want to be without the seat for a month or two and will they try to denie the fact that they did a very poor job of packing the items. My head was spinning. So I decided to take a crap shoot and try something to fix the problem of this now permenant indentation in my seat which sticks out like a sore thumb. I took my wife's hair dryer and went to the garage and heated up the material for a good five to ten minutes and gently worked the material with my fingers and like magic the material rebounded back to its original form without a single mark and looks brand new again. I waited and came back to look again to make sure my eyes weren't playing a trick on me and it is perfect, like nothing ever happened. I am amazed, relieved and very happy once again.

install instructions..

i am wondering about the installation regarding the wiring.
it is a 6 wire hookup (left turn, right turn, brake, running, plate and ground)

what i am wondering is where all connections can be made.
are the running , brake and plate able to be connected to the wires in the brake light itself?

where best to tap the turn signals? how do the wires get routed from the plate to the hookup location?

is there something the ground could be attached to or should it be attached to the ground of one of the other lights?

Like I said in another thread..motor, frame, engine cases, exhaust , taillight, headlight tank all redesigned to look more like original Bonnie. 1100cc is being reported, around 90 horsepower estimated, ABS standard, partial liquid cooling, I've read both 5 speed and 6 speed speculations on gearbox. Supposed to be lighter than current Bonnie.

I came across a photograph from 1984. It was taken in the front yard of our newly purchased house in Miami. In the picture I'm standing behind my son (age 7) my arms across his small chest and behind us is my 1982 CB 750 Deluxe Honda. I would like to have a picture taken today of both of us (my son is 35 today) in the same pose with the CB 1100 in the rear. It would be an interesting contrast of us then and now. The only thing that will show very little change are the two Hondas. My problem is that I am computer dummy that never learned to use modern computers and cameras and will likely never will. I will keep asking around till I find someone that can help me with the logistics, then when I've done it I will proudly post the picture with the caption "WHAT'S OLD IS NEW AGAIN".

Yesterday I removed the rear brake lever and had it bent today. Now, I can't get everything back together. If I install the master cylinder first, I cannot get the brake lever on its post. If I install the brake lever first, I cannot get the bolts in to hold the master cylinder. What am I doing wrong and how do I get this mechanism back together? I assume the threaded rod which goes into the master cylinder must be in parallel to the cylinder. Yes, I still have the brake light switch and the return spring to install.

My son and I, he on his Triumph Tiger 800XC and my CB1100DLX, rode out to Lake Bridgeport yesterday. Our goal, to watch the NTTA (North Texas Trials Association) in their competition.

Unfortunately, we got there just as the event finished and they were having their Awards ceremony, but I hope to go back next week to watch, and possibly compete with my TLR200.

I did notice that the CB1100 handles the freeways alot better than my previous ride, a KLR650. I still need to do a little adjusting on the windshield as my head got knocked around quite a bit at higher speeds. There was never any lack of power for passing. It ran smoothly the entire way there and back. I need to "toughen up" my posterior as that got a little sore after awhile.


Photos of our bikes at a stop, my CB in the dirt parking lot and one with my CB and the "boomerang" trials bikes in the background. My CB handled the dirt and muddy road, but it is surely not an off-road bike.

These seem new to me for the CB, might be old news.

I had a long standing agreement with my daughter that if rain was not forecast i would visit her in Melbourne on the 20th of April. So with a 20% chance of showers I awoke before sunrise to the sound of rain on the tin roof, undeterred I made a cuppa and had a quick feed before heading on my way westward with a rising sun in my rear mirror you have got to love the early start the air was a little brisk. My first stop was Yarragon the hands weren't cooperative and needed warming so topped up the tank, then of to Officer this involves a gradual climb in altitude and a drop in temperature to match. Officer and more fuel, just so that I could avoid the need in the city, a hot chocolate with banana muffin. Then on to the freeway its named after General John Monash no doubt Australia's most accomplished, in command of ten divisions at Amiens. There is an American connection here but you need to Google that yourself. Then on to the toll way we call city link and presto at 10 I end up in Carlton, this is the home suburb of my daughter. My need for a cup of tea being satisfied my cold legs needed a walk so to the Melbourne Museum that's located next to the Exhibition Building that was site of the fourth World Fair in 1880 after London Paris and Chicago. We wet to the Melbourne Museum to see the touring exhibition from the Imperial War Museum and I'm glad we did hence the earlier John Monash stuff. As I knew the ride home was not going to be any warmer it snowed in the nearby mountains I headed home at 2:30 by 4:00 the day was ending as it had started with the sun in the west now and me heading east. Rode up the driveway at last light and was glad I could see the smoke coming out of the chimney warmth awaited me. So ended the day on the bike 459 km (287 miles) some time near the stove a hot cup of tea, felt human again.

Here is my second CB1100 project, a Custom Removeable Backrest.
My wife can't really ride without one, and though I kind of cherish riding alone I figure I better keep on her good side.

So here is a jpeg of my CAD file so far. I am going to paint mine black, probably have it powder coated but not sure. I did the best I could measuring the bike for this, but if it actually fits the first time I will be very surprised!

I will have my laser guy cut out the main sheet metal bracket tonight, and having my press brake guy bend it up hopefully by wednesday.

Yup...real deep technical.

I don't have a yard - I have a carport in an apartment complex. So I don't have a hose and a bucket-wash isn't practical.

So it's off to Mister Wash for me.



Now, the first danger here is not hosing the engine or critical parts, flaming hot. That's a no-brainer...park it in a corner and let it cool for half an hour while you work on a can of Coke, or a butt if that's your pleasure...and pick it up when things are cool enough to touch.

Gotcha.

Now...the elephant in the garage, is the CHAIN. I'm in a dusty environment. That chain is soaking it up. O-Ring chains are a new thing to me...or my awareness of them is new...I've been with shafts (BMW and GL500) and belts (Burgman 650) for some years.

The mechanical boys at the Honda dispensery, aren't very helpful on this. Now...should I just ignore it, with that powerspray wand? Water aimed at the chain will probably penetrate the seals at pivots. Okay, I get that.

Brush it off? The chain IS oily; dust seems to be turning into a sort of paste. Brush? Kerosene? Gasoline/paint thinner?

OR...should I lay on the chain lube while it is like it is?

Do I need to keep that power wand away? Or just try not to aim at the chain, and otherwise it doesn't matter?
