Spy shots of 2016 Triumph Bonneville - the Ferret - 04-20-2015 http://motorcyclefeed.com/2016-triumph-bonneville-spied-testing-5119/ Like I said in another thread..motor, frame, engine cases, exhaust , taillight, headlight tank all redesigned to look more like original Bonnie. 1100cc is being reported, around 90 horsepower estimated, ABS standard, partial liquid cooling, I've read both 5 speed and 6 speed speculations on gearbox. Supposed to be lighter than current Bonnie. RE: Spy shots of 2016Triumph Bonneville - redbirds_imp - 04-20-2015 The Bonnie was due for an upgrade. If it is liquid cooled, most likely I'd think, it will be interesting to see how well Triumph melds that into the design so as to have the look of an air cooled motor. Rumor has the old model continuing on as an entry level price model. More displacement, power and lower weight would do much to restore the reputation of the original Bonneville-the hot rod of it's day. If the new Bonneville should be a hot rod of TODAY, it would be like a BMW S1000RR or so. RE: Spy shots of 2016Triumph Bonneville - meowguy_imp - 04-20-2015 Glad to see the Bonnie will finally get ABS. I'd have bought one two years ago if it had it then. RE: Spy shots of 2016 Triumph Bonneville - the Ferret - 04-20-2015 Can you imagine a 200 hp Bonnie? lol I think to be considered the Hot Rod "in it's class" it just has to be faster than the BMW R9T and MG Griso which would be a tall order indeed. But then again maybe like me, Triumph doesn't consider the R9T or Griso retros (although I think the new Eldorado fits the bill but no HP rating have been released yet.. don't think it will match the Griso though) in which case anything over 90 hp would make the Bonnie the retro hot rod king. R9T 110 hp Griso 110 hp CB1100 84 hp Ducati Scrambler 75 hp Current Bonneville 68 hp Moto Guzzi V7 48 hp W800 Kawasaki 48 hp Royal Endfield 29 hp RE: Spy shots of 2016 Triumph Bonneville - Django - 04-20-2015 Ferret, what I wanted to say: The Bonneville of the sixties was a hot rod of it's time, state of the art, not retro. The Bonneville of today is a retro, a fake of a vintage bike. These IMHO are not supposed to be hot rods anymore. If they increase HP, they just want to add some more comfort and make it a somehow better ride experience. The hot rods and state of the art of today are S1000RR or Aprilia RSV4 or Kawasaki H2R... But then, when you say: hot rod of the retros... you're right.
RE: Spy shots of 2016 Triumph Bonneville - the Ferret - 04-21-2015 If it could only look just like this, then I would be forced to buy one [url=http://smg.photobucket.com/user/theferret111/media/68%20Bonnie_zpsnfnpnpe4.jpg.html]
RE: Spy shots of 2016 Triumph Bonneville - Rocky_imp - 04-21-2015 While I don't own a vintage Bonneville, I do own and ride a 1970 Tiger 500 which has that famous Triumph profile. But it is painted in 1965 Bonneville colors. If the new models would look something like this in profile I too would be mighty tempted to trade up from my 2006 Bonneville. [url=http://s392.photobucket.com/user/Rock500_2008/media/Motorcycles/1970TriumphTiger100.jpg.html] RE: Spy shots of 2016 Triumph Bonneville - the Ferret - 04-21-2015 Just beautiful Rocky. The 500's weren't too popular, but still had the same great lines. They also made a 250 Cub that didn't sell well. RE: Spy shots of 2016 Triumph Bonneville - redbirds_imp - 04-21-2015 My my, old Triumphs are handsome machines. |
