Last Thursday rode to Tidal River in the Wilsons Promontory national park, the rain set in half way between Sale and Yarram Yarram so stopped in front of Pubs Four Parts Shop for a cup of tea and donned the wet weather trousers. Pud restores CB750's and he does nice work. With the odd detour the leg from home to Tidal River was about 240 km (150 miles). In time for a bite to eat and a cuppa. The ride home took me through Foster, Port Welshpool and back to Yarram Yarram when I dropped in to Puds shop he talked about modifying a CB1100 with Whitehouse kit and give it that CB750 look. I keep an eye on his shop window he always has nice 70's wheels to dream about in time to come perhaps something slightly more modern. I had to push on as I did not want to be on the South Gippsland Highway at dusk, its a Kangaroo impact thing. Noticed that the Omega tower is still standing it is the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere (427m-1401 feet) and is scheduled for demolition. Last year a base jumper died when his parachute failed . Two tanks of fuel 500 km (315 miles)and at home then brewed a pot of tea. Managed to keep my jocks and sock dry, just.

Mounted the LED taillight that I got from Dime City Cycles couple days ago. I like the way it has turned out but it sure pained me to have to drill two mounting holes in that pristine rear fender. Can't be sure but this light seems brighter than stock.

Just thought I'd share. Just purchased the Wolfman Summit Saddlebags. First impressions, these are way too big for my bike. Dam, I have to return them!!

Second impressions. .. I love them, they won't be returned. They are top notch quality products that i'm so happy to own. After a few adjustments and a few rides this maybe one of the most practical and convenient add ons to my bike. After they are adjusted properly they can be added or removed to the bike with a minute or two.

So I got the pass from the wife and met up with CIP57 in Greenwich, CT north of the Merritt parkway, bordering NY State. He led a real nice ride on the back country roads of NY. I have been to Bear Mountain before but never on these roads. Nice windy curves and virtually zero pot holes. The Weather was close to 80 so the roads were filled with fellow motorcyclists. About an hour into the ride we decided to switch bikes. I jumped on his modified 2013 and he jumped on my modified 2014. We both had big smiles on our faces! Both bikes are very fast but the powerband is a little different. He has a really nice customized seat that he can tell you about if he hasnt already. The price is very reasonable.
We got to the top of the mountain and stopped on the famous hot dog vendor overlook. Thats right, you get a great hot dog with mustard and kraut for $2 to go along with the million dollar view. I snapped a shot of our bikes before we began our journey home.

The round trip was about 160 miles which helped get me now to 459 miles. Another 150 and I can do my first service!

I am thinking about buying the national cycle DX deflector screen and to order it's asking me the handlebar size .. I have a 2013 and am pretty sure they're 7/8 " but not positive .... Can anyone answer this question for me please ?

Someone posted that they had trimmed the bottom of the adjusting rod to lower the brake lever. How much was trimmed off and how much did that action lower the brake lever?

The little town of Offerman, GA has a charity ride every April for the Cancer Society. We always attend even though we're not enthused about riding in large groups with strangers. Three years ago two participants ran into one another making an emergency room trip for both. We always ride far to the rear, just close enough to keep the others in view. Today we showed up for the ride with the skies looking like rain. As more riders showed up it became clear that there were too many of the weekend "pirate" types with their annoying loud bikes. Instead of riding with the group we rode our own route over some nice roads, enjoyed a peaceful ride and dodged a few rain showers. The roadside flowers are really coming on and I did manage a couple pics before the rain started.

The vibration thingy...as the miles roll on, it seems to be getting worse.

Nope, not gonna sell. Nope, don't want this machine - which was built TO PERFECTION in Soichiro Honda's model plant - to be taken apart in search of mysterious malady, on the bench of a backwoods Montana shop.

But, as they say, decisions must be made. There's a fork in the road...take it.

First, how much is too much? This engine starts and purrs smoothly at about 1000rpm. It pulls strong out the gate, and between 2000-2500rpm is smooth as silk. In 1,2 and 3rd gear, that's fine for traffic.

From 2500 to 3000, things get a little buzzy. That's for fast acceleration in traffic in lower gears.

3000 to 4000 things get a bit out of hand. Mirrors are still fine but my left-hand, which seems more sensitive, starts getting the neuralgia tingles. This is the RPM band when accelerating to highway speed on our limited-access signaled arterials.

Above 4000...which I've run it up to to see what happens...or at highway speeds, which out here in the West is about 85...it gets ugly. Just under 5000rpm, the tank starts to buzz. A little higher and I feel it through the well-padded seat.

Is this normal, in others' experience? I know a four is gonna have some harmonic issues. I can live with it...there is so much else with this machine to love. But I don't want the engine tearing itself apart.

NOW. What is a good way to mitigate the buzz through the grips? I have the factory bars and weights. I read the other thread about someone who replaced or tried to replace Honda bars with aftermarket...how exquisitely-engineered were those weights.

Fair enough. Is there a better sort of grip? I wear off-road riding gloves; they help but they're not a full solution. The bars are fine for me. Keep the bars and weights and try heavily-padded grips? I have big hands; a larger circumference won't hurt me.
