For anyone in the New England area, Vanson's open house is next weekend (May 1st-3rd) at their factory in Fall River, MA. I've never been, but a quick google search will net you some info from previous years. I talked to a sales associate who confirmed the sale IS happening, they just haven't updated their website recently.

Hi all
I am considering taking the rubber off the stock footpegs to give me a little more room. Has anybody here done this? If so, did it result in a noticeable increase in vibration? Did it look weird with the rubber off?

Some of you have run into me in my "decision" thread. The decision is made!

I need to plan the funds needed to outfit the bike for a lot of riding. This will be no garage queen. The bike will see around 6,000 miles a year.

Here's what I think I need:

Our Majesty 400 Yamaha Scooter left today. Great scooter, but it wasn't getting enough riding time and I had other needs. Especially in the winter. My snow blower is getting old and running it up and down my curvy hilly driveway was wearing me out as well.

This afternoon they delivered my new snow removal tool ..a new Honda Rancher 420 4wd with 48" Cycle Country Blade fitted with a Warn Winch to lift and drop the blade.

No more hours and hours behind the snow blower, hopefully no more coming in dripping sweat with my heart beating thru my chest, breathing like I just ran a marathon. As my wife said," it's cheaper than a heart attack".

It joins the CB DLX, the ST 1300, my wife's Accord and my Ridgeline. Honda? You paying attention? lol

Interestingly (at least for me) today I was pondering Honda's myriad of systems for their disc brakes. ABS, C-ABS and Linked ABS
I thought the 14 DLX had C-ABS (Combined ABS linking front and rear braking) but now I don't think it does. I did some experimenting and my rear brake does not affect my front brake in any way. This can be demonstrated by popping the bike on the centerstand, getting the front wheel off the ground, spinning the wheel and hitting the rear brake lever. If the brakes were linked, it would stop the front wheel but not with the same gusto that hitting the front brake lever does. So off to the dealer I go in search of answers. Of course they can't tell me much, but pouring over the service manual back in the shop, I noticed bikes with linked ABS have 2 hydraulic lines running to the r/f brake caliper. The DLX only has one, and only one going to the left front brake caliper

Looking at the Honda ad info for the two years/models notice the carefully worded text. (bold italicized and underline is my emphasis)

2013 ABS optional

The CB1100 features front and rear disc brakes, and the thoroughly modern option of Honda’s Combined Anti-lock Brake System. That makes for powerful, sure stops. Because you never know what the open road is going to throw at you.


2014 Deluxe

Honda’s original CB750 introduced disc brakes to motorcycling’s mainstream. The new CB1100 offers triple discs with huge calipers for excellent stopping ability. The CB1100 Deluxe adds ABS for confident stopping in more challenging conditions.

I now think the DLX has ABS but the ABS on each wheel operates independently. The brakes are not linked in any way. Personally I like that.

Did anyone else think the DLX's brakes were linked?

Traded-in my Cb1100 last Sat. and picked[/size] up a 2014 Honda 1300 Stateline. Very LOW and long. Had cruiser's before so I knew what I was getting into. It is sweet !!!
Feels light compared to my 2011 Victory Crossroads. And no, it is not smooth !!!
But, smooth enough I think !! I plan on being active on here if possible. Lots to talk about and learn and ingage !! God Bless...

DETROIT -- Harley-Davidson (HOG) is recalling nearly 46,000 motorcycles in the U.S. because they could stay in gear due to clutches that won't fully disengage.

The recall covers certain Electra Glide, Ultra Limited, Police Electra Glide, Street Glide, Road Glide and Road King models from the 2014 and 2015 model years.

Harley says in documents that gas bubbles can cause the clutch master cylinder to lose its ability to fully disengage the clutch, especially if the bike has been parked for a long time. This could cause a rider to lose control of the motorcycle if it's started in gear.

The problem was found through customer complaints. Harley reported 27 crashes and four minor injuries.

Dealers will flush the clutch and rebuild the master cylinder. The recall was to start April 23.

Since I had it serviced last week whenever I take her on a run there is a strong smell of petrol (or is it exhaust fumes?) that smells out the garage. I noticed a couple of drops of oil that leaked from one of those two hoses that hang out below the engine, but only a couple of drops - nothing major. Is that related? Can't see any other leaks.

Has anyone had this problem? I wondered if the mechanic has forgotton the screw something back on??

I was out riding yesterday and decided to say hello at the dealership where I bought my CB. I've dealt with them before and am somewhat friendly with the staff. My salesman worked at a kawi dealer prior to working for honda. Where I bought another bike. So I stopped in and as I pulled up on the bike one of the guys said no way and immediately came up to me and said I can't believe its the same bike. The other salesman came out and started laughing and said I know you, it didn't take long for you to start with the mods and goodies. They were amazed in how much a small fairing, a new seat, some mirrors, exhaust, engine guards and some other stuff can really change the look of the bike. They both wanted to sit on it and take pictures. One of the guys said that he has a customer interested in the other 2014 in the showroom and was convinced he will sell the bike after showing him pics of my bike. They both spent a good 15 min outside looking and talking about my bike. Such a good feeling to see their reaction. One of them said if he didn't already have two bikes that he would buy it himself.
