This may be old news as I am new here, but I have printed and read some very interesting interviews with the designers and engineers of the CB1100. I went to the world.Honda.com site, went to motorcycles then the CB1100. Interesting read all in all. Also an interesting departure from the normal at Honda.

Little trip 180km , First Impressions, Very Happy!!

Back to the grind tomorrow. Got to get out on the CB a few times between rain storms. Too much snow and cold in the mountains still, but got away for a while and rode out on the prairie a good 70 or so mi. There is a two lane highway that runs sort of parallel to I-70 through all 4 or 5 small towns from Denver to Kansas. Hadn't been out that way in several years. It was great to have the whole road to myself, there was literally no traffic. I came upon this race track. Sign said High Plains raceway. Gonna have to check that out further. And what better to have across the road from a race track than a shooting range? I was actually surprised there were no bullet holes in that signhttp://cb1100forum.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif. Past the track and there was nothing around for miles, except for the tumbleweeds blowing across the road. Was getting a stiff head/crosswind for next 20 or so mi. I stopped at the ghost town of Last Chance. Last chance in more ways than one. That was the only tree and or bush within many mileshttp://cb1100forum.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif. So after a rest and stretch it was time to start heading back. It was looking bad to the west but didn't get caught in any rain. It was a nice ride, good to clear my head. Got out a few other times for more local rides. 1,700 mi on my CB now, I am really loving this bike.

Anyone going to the Riding Into History event at the World Golf Village near St. Augustine, FL.? May 22nd and 23rd this year and well worth attending. Beautiful vintage bikes shown and judged on a shaded walkway surrounding a circular lake. I last went in 2009 and have regretted missing the years in between but will make it this year, God willing.

It did a remarkable job of minimizing bike damage when I low sided today.

I was on my NC700 (not the CB thank God!!!) taking a left hand turn on a remote, poorly maintained back road at around 50 mph when suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, I lost the front big time. I automatically tried to correct and remember a couple of near tank slappers and then being dragged by my foot which was caught under the right side of the bike for about 60-70 feet.

I was very lucky I didn't high side, ending up sliding right side down on a left turn.

The bike suffered minimal damage, but I'll be shopping for a new helmet, jacket and gloves.





My only injuries is a scraped right knee, sore right foot, and a little road rash on my hand (summer gloves).

I freaked out when the bike wouldn't start (dead ignition) but in the course of getting the bike out of 6th gear and back into neutral, whatever sensor that had kept me from starting reset itself.

I went back to the apex of the turn where I'd lost it and found the culprit. Apparently someone had dumped some oil on the road and had tried to cover it with some sand. I probably should have seen it but the road itself was a multi-colored patchwork quilt of repairs and that spot didn't catch my attention - until it was too late.

Darn glad I wasn't on the CB. That would have been expensive.

Steve, one of the salesmen at the shop where I buy my bikes mentioned I hadn't done any new ride reports lately (he reads our forum). So today's ride is a report for Steve....

Cool day at 55 degrees, but trees are budding, flowers are blooming and the sun was shining so it was a perfect day to stretch the CB's legs. There is a lake not too far from me I like to ride to. The roads are awesome to get there, with several options, with a ton of curves and lots of elevation changes. It's about 30 miles from my house, so a round trip is just over 60 miles. Takes about an hour and a half, if you include my stop for tea at the lake.

This is one of the roads that makes this ride so much fun (hey Steve you know which one this is?)

A few years back I rode out to Portland International Raceway to take in a vintage motorcycle event. They had racing, a bike show and a swap meet. The racing was cool, and there were some interesting things to be found at the swap meet but what I really enjoyed was all of the vintage bikes on display. Most of these pictures were taken from bikes people had brought out to the track just for the show. But a number of them were just what someone had happened to ride out on that day. (A number of bikes entered in the show had been ridden to the event as well.) There were cool old bikes all over the place. All in all this was a great event. I'm not sure if they are still doing this out at PIR, but if so it would be a great excuse to meet up with some of you here on the forum and take in a bunch of neat old bikes to boot. I'm sure that there are similar events held elsewhere around the country as well.

I've had these images sitting on my hard drive for quite a while now and thought I'd finally get around to sharing them. This is just a small sampling of what was on display that day.

My new exhausts showed up and after I get 1000 kms on the bike I will install the 4x4's. I was thinking of maybe doing a thread on the installation, as all the instructions are in Japanese so that might be of some help to someone else. Not a "how to"but a "how I managed to "thread.
As you can see, they are very well packed and are just flat out gorgeous !! No center stand but I don't care.

Marc Marguez badly broke a finger in his left hand while training on a dirt track and full recovery could take several weeks. With Dani still not confirmed for Jerez, Honda could be hurting. Is this the year of Valentino Rossi?
