Today, I had my first opportunity to test the handling of my new-ish 2014 CB1100 standard at 60-70 mph speeds. As expected, I get significant wind which wants to lift my helmet from under the chin guard.

Even though I really like the looks of the Road Comet fairings, I have my doubts that they will help much (if at all) with this problem. I am wondering if the addition of the "touring" wind screen on the Road Comet will make enough of a difference to negate this wind lift.

Any ideas or comments?

Pirelli Angel GTs, 110 front and 160 rear, 1200kms down. What's my impression? First of all, as another forum member so sagely posted, when you put new tyres on a bike it is generally the case that they are a definite improvement on those previously fitted. In my case this holds true as my Michelin RP3s were definitely past their use by date when they went to tyre paradise. So this is not a comparison with the RP3s as such, which over their very long life proved to be a tyre I would recommend to any CB owner.

When I fitted the Pirellis I also changed the chain, sprockets, front brake pads, brake fluid and caliper seals. See this thread:

I made that post at only 60kms on the Pirellis. Naturally enough after that work, particularly after the chain replacement, what was old was was smooth again. As the song (almost) goes.

So, after 1200kms, what's the story? Well I am favourably impressed by the Pirellis. I guess I should be, they are a major and well regarded product. They have performed faultlessly in varied conditions. Highway, hairpins and twisties all negotiated with confidence and, best of all, no surprises. What I do like about them is that they tip in to a turn very easily, only a light counter steer and the bike is looking at peg land. This also makes any line adjustments easy. I haven't yet ridden in significantly wet conditions and on only around 10kms or so of dirt but I ride well within my limits here so tyre performance is a minor matter.

Having had a some light peg scrapes this is how the rear tyre looks:



The true proof of the pudding will be tyre wear. That's when I will be able to make a direct comparison with the Michies.

Found a new 2013 at a dealer not too far away and was able to negotiate a decent deal, not as low as some reports on this board, but not bad.

Really happy with the bike. I'm going to be posting a lot here....

I'd like to put on a pair of engine guards. I like the OVER guards on the Samurider site.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to place an order with Samurider? It doesn't look like you can place an order directly on the site. When viewing a product, there is a button to "request a quote." I did that but the site gave me an error message. Then I sent a general e-mail inquiry using the CONTACT US button. It went through, because I received an automated acknowledgement e-mail, but have not received any sort of communication from them about how to order.

It is a Honda, new model I think, but I cannot seem to identify it.
Looks like meters of a CB1100, but the rest is totaly different.
And all new Honda bikes have digital meters (execpt for the CB1100), so wich bike is this?

Local dealership has the Yamaha Truck in for test rides today and tomorrow. Allowed to ride 3 a day. Today I'm going to ride an FZ-07, an FJ-09 and an R3.

Not sure about tomorrow, probably a Super Tenere, FJR and either a Bolt Spec R or a V Max. Haven't ridden the Bolt before, rode the other 3 last year.

I'm a soon-to-be CB1100 owner (although how soon is up for debate). After a year+ of debating between a Triumph Bonneville and the CB1100, I made my decision and finally convinced my wife the DLX was worth the extra money because of the ABS and other features (not to mention I like the red a bit more than the black).

Imagine my horror when I learn the DLX models are all but gone! I've called just about every listing on cycletrader with no luck. So now I am left with a tough decision: buy a 2014 standard model or cross my fingers and hope that someone decides to sell their 2014 DLX in the next year.

I ride mostly interstate to and from work, so the 2013 is out of the question due to the lack of a 6th gear. Is the DLX destined to be a collectors' prized bike that will be impossible to come by? Should I move on and get the standard? Thanks for any thoughts or advice!

Does anyone know why my (two different) dealers will not sell me a pre cut key based on the code attached to the factory issue key tag? The ones I have had cut by hardware stores and a locksmith only work in the gas cap and helmet holder

I bought the CB on a whim. I really did. I stumbled across it in a shop while hunting for parts for my DRZ..

I instantly fell in love with its looks.

Now 1178 miles later I'm in love with its everything. It has reminded me of all the things I ride for, all the fun riding is, and brought me back to a simpler vision of riding.

My kitted out BMW was, now that I'm looking back, way too much like driving a car. All that size, weight, storage, and tech.. Too much, just too much..

The CB is a clutter free ride, a reminder of what I love about riding.

Is it more work on my 44 year old body than the BMW? Yes it is. And I love it..

The "Canopy Roads" of Tallahassee are in the plan along with Wakulla Springs, St, Marks WR and the Redneck Riviera west of Apalachicola and the world's most beautiful beaches. Can't wait to get some delicious Gulf caught seafood that the area is famous for.
