Jane and I took a day trip to Race Point today. What a perfect day for a ride ! Mid 70s with clear sky's. For you ocean lovers, here are a few pictures. For you mountain lovers, the dunes were pretty big Smile

  All stopped up
Posted by: CB4ME_imp - 08-28-2015, 07:16 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (4)

On a recent thread about an SP Tadao power box exhaust, the question was asked just exactly what the power box does.

There was speculation but no definitive answer.

The thread also included a link to a mechanical stopper at McMaster-Carr for anyone wishing to pull off the box.

Here's what it looks like installed:

I think removing the power box is an improvement. The tinny sound is gone, the exhaust sounds deeper and it has more bark. Even better than the Staintune.

A lot of manufacturers engage in a bit of marketing hype to distinguish themselves from the competition, and I think this may be the case here.

  Can we talk Highway Pegs?
Posted by: GaryMNM_imp - 08-28-2015, 06:52 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (7)

Anything you like or dislike about any forward highway pegs you've installed and where you mounted them?

What mounts did you use.

Any pic's you can post?

I can't help but feel I need that forward option to rotate a foot or both feet on occasion just for a slight position change.

I have also been pulling up some old and new posts on potential seat upgrades since sadly for me my 14 Standard seat isn't working for extended saddle time. Undecided

I appreciate your feedback on any forward peg info.

Thanks.

"The V7 range is Guzzi’s most successful product and customers worldwide like the bikes. Rather than being a niche motorcycle, like Honda’s CB1100EX, the V7s are paying Guzzi’s bills."

  6 speed cb > 5speed cb??
Posted by: jeffskar_imp - 08-27-2015, 11:27 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (46)

I noticed that the 2013's have a 5 speed gearbox, and 2014's and newer have six speeds. I do not own a cb1100 yet, but can get a very good deal on a brand new 2013 cb1100 that has yet to be sold, is it that important? I will say I can get this bike for less than 7500.00, and it looks just like any other cb1100 I've seen so far.

I've heard people describe the cb's power as very smooth with great torque, so that tells me that if the ratios are a little wider in the 5 speed compared to the six speed, it shouldn't be a very big deal. If it was a very "peaky" power band, I'd say the six speed would be more important, but that's not what I'm hearing so far on the power, just haven't heard much about the different transmissions?
Here's the real kicker, The darn place that has the good price on the new 2013 cb doesn't allow test-rides, and I have yet to ride a cb1100 as of yet. I think I see why they have a 2013 model, when 2016's right around the corner

  Tallahassee Sojourn

Rode to Tallahassee this week to spend a couple days with my brother and family. I also used this time to scout some of the Canopy Roads not yet ridden. Fall is in the air and the early morning ride was comfortably cool. Except for a section of lightly traveled four-lane on US84 my route followed farm and timber country back roads. There were also some good twisty sections along the way to enhance the pleasures of the lovely scenery.

I had a wonderful visit. My brother builds and repairs guitars for a living and plays gigs at local night spots in between so we spent much time in his shop talking music. He played the oldies rock and blues on his guitar and we sang the lyrics from memory. It was like we were kids again.

Today I rode my CB360T storage find for the first time. Clap

[url=http://s1298.photobucket.com/user/aswreed/media/960148CD-564F-432F-94AB-6B2D68D963CD_zpsayhpfqqb.jpg.html]Clap[Image: c41ea2afa7e9c6433c02d50a58accb7c.jpg]

It had been in storage for 15+ years when I bought it. It's stock except for the Clubman bars and front blinkers and mirrors. Earlier this week I rebuilt the carbs and it fired right up. Today I adjusted the valves, points, timing (was bang on), compression was 150/160 Thumbs Up, slapped a plate on it and went for a spin around the block. It ran like a 39 year old CB with 6,800 miles (11,000 km), still have a lot of work to get it up to par, I'm just jazzed that's it's a worthy opponent. The CL in the middle is Yoga Warriors latest acquisition.
