  Engine disassembly
Posted by: carvin12_imp - 08-29-2015, 03:18 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (2)

I was looking though the other threads and I couldn't find one where someone took apart their engine. I have a few questions on the topic. 1: Is it necessary to remove the engine from the frame to get the heads and cylinders off (is there enough room under the backbone)? 2: Has anyone polished the cooling fin edges? And 3: Would polishing the fin edges affect the engine's ability to cool? I love the look of polished edges on air-cooled engines and I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it on their CB yet.

Interesting option for front fork cartridge kit.

Never heard of this company, but they are supposedly a partner of Ohlins. These actually seem pretty reasonably priced for something that can actually be dropped into the bike and installed at home.

Not sure if anyone has any experience with it, just found it in a random Google search and thought I would post it up here. If these allow for compression and rebound damping adjustment I'd consider them for that alone.

Daytona Cozy, CB500F bars, TRAD2 mirrors
Posted by: EJ from upstairs - 08-29-2015, 09:36 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (13)

Some pics of recent mods onmy 2014 standard, including the Daytona Cozy 70's Style seat, TRAD2 mirrors, and Moriwaki frame sliders, all from Samurider, plus CB500F bars, Oury grips, and metalmaven's license plate holder.

Thanks to Chip for the clear handlebar instructions. No drilling was needed for my bike. I couldn't do much about the brake line, but I did adjust the clutch line and throttle cables, none of which needed to be replaced (at not least in my eyes--some people may be bothered by the routing, but it's functional).

The Daytona seat is very comfortable. Much firmer than stock and way roomier. I can easily get both feet flat on the ground and I'm a 30" inseam. I haven't been uncomfortable on it, but I also haven't ridden more than an hour at a time on it yet.

  Bike won't start
Posted by: CB4ME_imp - 08-29-2015, 06:43 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (21)

I was out for a ride today and stopped to take a picture. I got back on the bike which was in 1st gear. I turned the key on and the gauges and fuel pump came up. The side stand was up and clutch was fully engaged. I hit the starter switch..... and nothing.

Bike will start in neutral, side stand up or down. Lowering the side stand while in gear will kill the engine. But it will not start with the bike in gear.

I highly doubt the "key and slot" on the side stand kill switch is out of alignment. What else can I try? And what is the procedure for resetting the ECU? Disconnect battery for 30 minutes?

  Weekend trip
Posted by: Simon_imp - 08-29-2015, 06:02 AM - Forum: CB1100 Photos & Videos - Replies (5)

Hi all!

Two weeks ago I went to visit a friend in Sundsvall, that is a 270 km drive from Umeå. This picture is taken at the "Höga Kusten Bron" (High Coast Bridge), the fake version of the golden gate I suppose. The area is situated high above sealevel and is part of the UNESCO world heritage list since year 2000.

Thought I'd share. It's a bit boring but will give you an idea of the countryside in Eastern MA.

Kent PS in Selma TX has 2014 Std

The Kent Powersports store in Selma TX (just above San Antonio) has a black 2014 they seem fairly motivated to sell. The salesman told me it had been there forever and the manager wanted it to move. I didn't talk prices.

The CB1100 Is A Great Platform
Posted by: Motogeezer1949_imp - 08-28-2015, 11:45 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (15)

It's excellent to see and hear what everyone has done to personalize their rides. From wild to mild, stock to modified. I always smile when reading the varied comments and critiques. What is nirvana to some is totally unacceptable to others. Some are ok with thing as is, others overthink to what can seem to the point of grey matter explosion! I've made some great friends here, especially at the inaugural CB Rally! Regardless, all of us are enthusiasts who agree on one thing - we love our CB's Heart

  Rear turn signals/markers?
Posted by: Ghis_imp - 08-28-2015, 11:38 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Our front turn signals are always lit up as markers. Anyone tried to get the rear ones to do the same? Is there an easy trick?
