Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - redbirds_imp - 08-18-2015 Pamela (aka Sparky) and I are planning an early October trip to the Florida panhandle from the Tallahassee area to the gorgeous white sand beaches west. The "Canopy Roads" of Tallahassee are in the plan along with Wakulla Springs, St, Marks WR and the Redneck Riviera west of Apalachicola and the world's most beautiful beaches. Can't wait to get some delicious Gulf caught seafood that the area is famous for. RE: Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - noroomtomove - 08-18-2015 Just checked out Dr Google maps, I am learning more about American geography by reading Seatime and it's all good. Looks like a good trip. The days are slowly getting longer here and the mornings are not quite as chilly. Regards RE: Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - Cormanus - 08-18-2015 Good one redbirds. I'll look forward to the posts and photos. My regards to Ms Sparky. PS, I like the new avatar photo. Brings back a memory or two, RE: Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - redbirds_imp - 08-19-2015 (08-18-2015, 11:27 PM)Cormanus_imp Wrote: Good one redbirds. Tallahassee actually has some hilly areas with nice roads shaded with moss draped Live Oaks and a few good curves thrown in. Will post a full ride report. Here are a couple pics from May last year on the Meridian Road, a canopy road, on the NW side of Tallahassee. ![]() ![]()
RE: Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - the Ferret - 08-19-2015 Hey Sparky! Take binocs.. We've seen a lot more birds in Fla than we did on our West coast trip although we did see some new ones for us. mrs Ferret made the comment about how many more birds were on the Fla beaches than the Cali/ Oregon/Washington beaches and tidal pools. Haven't ridden to Fla in awhile. need to get back down there one of these days. Maybe gulf coast side next trip.. sanibel? Will definitely have the binocs and field guides on this trip. Sanibel has some good riding and inland from there into the citrus and cattle country. Many non-native birds down that way now. RE: Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - Motogeezer1949_imp - 08-20-2015 Despite popular but uninformed opinion, there are plenty of excellent twisties and elevation changes in Florida. RE: Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - widude - 08-20-2015 Great area, been about four years or so since my last Pensacola trip. RE: Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - Pterodactyl_imp - 08-20-2015 G'day 'Birds and Sparky. The photos you have posted have whetted my appetite for the full report. I take it that Florida weather should be mild at that time of the year. Enjoy the ride. Cheers RE: Florida Panhandle and "Redneck Riviera" - redbirds_imp - 08-20-2015 Will make a solo trip on Tuesday to visit my brother in Tallahassee. The plan is riding two-lane country roads and will get some pics of winding roads in Florida, something generally thought to be rare as unicorns in my old home state. |
