Clip ons or drag bars for a DLX?
Posted by: elemenopi_imp - 03-19-2016, 09:56 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

I've gone through multiple threads about handlebars. I still am not sure what the best time of bar modification would be for a DLX, considering the size of the tank.

Are there examples of mods with clip ons or low bars specifically on that model?

  Advice on buying
Posted by: Beerman_imp - 03-19-2016, 05:17 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (57)

I'm new to this forum - but would be very grateful for some advice.

I'm looking at a 2013 CB1100 (but new: genuine 20 miles on the clock). I love the look of the bike - I've been looking at the Triumph range, and to me this looks better, the build looks fantastic, and it researches really well.

I am somewhat concerned that it is my first 'big bike' (even though I'm an old bloke) and it will be too much - but I'm not buying for speed. I ride every day, but a much smaller bike, and got my license recently on a Suzuki Bandit 600 (which was absolutely fine).

Should I be concerned? As I say, all advice appreciated!

how did the owner (whomever he is, don't remember, but got it from this board I think) of this road comet fairing make his screen so dark?

Black spray the rear side of the shield?

I got the smoked version, but its not nearly as black as the one pictured above.

Thanks

Going to purchase my 2014 cb1100 tomorrow. Will leave it with them for a few day to install some accessories.
Question: What do I need to check when picking up a new bike from the dealer?
thanks

  Cyclops LED Headlight
Posted by: kmoney_imp - 03-17-2016, 08:09 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (5)

Got one of these in the mail today and put it in. Install is fairly easy on the CB, and all of the extra electronics do manage to fit into our relatively small headlight bucket.

The only real modification is that you have to bend the spring clip on the headlight retainer in order for it to clear the now much larger base on the LED housing. I would rate the overall quality as pretty good. The base is made of soft plastic, and I somewhat question the longevity of the pins that are holding the bulb to the retainer (it's a twist-and-lock setup), but time will bear this out I guess... Will post up some beam pics when I get it adjusted and out on an actual road. Immediate observation is that it's definitely much brighter than the stock halogen. It is also fan cooled and you do notice the fan at KOEO, but not when the bike is actually running.

  removing rear turn signal
Posted by: modmaster_imp - 03-17-2016, 04:21 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (12)

Where is the connector for the rear turn signal wire? I'm trying to remove it and I don't see where the pin connector is. Can anyone help me out? I don't have the factory service manual yet and a few searches didn't reveal the right information.
