how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Riko_imp - 03-18-2016 how did the owner (whomever he is, don't remember, but got it from this board I think) of this road comet fairing make his screen so dark? Black spray the rear side of the shield? I got the smoked version, but its not nearly as black as the one pictured above. Thanks RE: how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Papa Weeley_imp - 03-18-2016 That's typically how it's done, spray-painting the back side. I did that on a bikini fairing years ago. Painting the "inside" gives an incredibly even covering when viewed from the "outside", through the plastic. Be sure the paint you use is safe for plastic, though!
RE: how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Lord Popgun - 03-18-2016 One or 2 guys have done what Papa said and painted the back side. They have posted about it. RE: how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Pterodactyl_imp - 03-18-2016 Nice find and well spotted, Riko. I wonder how that would suit my Dart? Cheers RE: how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Riko_imp - 03-18-2016 Alright. Thx a lot guys! Something to do when my new shorter screen arrives
RE: how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Rebel73_imp - 03-19-2016 Would that require any kind of prep? Or just a matter of using plastic specific paint? RE: how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Carguy1959_imp - 03-19-2016 Clean the inside very well. I would use a satin black and many light coats. RE: how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Riko_imp - 03-19-2016 I was thinking of using my left over of black Plast-Dip ![]() No harm can be done since its removable. how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - kennyw - 03-20-2016 I used hammered black spray paint. I also power sanded the inside surface before paint as well. ![]()
RE: how did he smoke/color his screen THAT black?? - Nemo_imp - 03-20-2016 Do it with Plast-Dip and it's reversible. |
