  17K Mile Dealer Check
Posted by: HikerToo_imp - 07-28-2016, 07:00 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (13)

Used my last vacation to have the dealer perform their 16K mile check on my CB1100 which has 17K miles. I originally asked for a valve check(adjust) and spark plugs, but dealer said just about same price to do their standard 16K mile check.
Anyway, valve check was fine, all at upper limit of spec, new plugs, air filter and brakes all around.
After picking it up, seems a little snappier, maybe due to plugs, but the big difference I notice is in the new found stopping power, the EBC brakes( not Honda OEM) seem to grip 15/20% more than when I dropped it off, so that was a bonus.
Guess I'm good for another 17/20K miles before next valve check.
Still loving my 13" CB1100 with its ECU flash from years ago.
Especially after my Bermuda trip where I was reduced to a 50cc moped!

2011 cb with .5 Klm's on the clock
Posted by: Graham T_imp - 07-27-2016, 08:02 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (25)

Hello to all,
I have been off line for a while and been scratching together my dollars to purchase a cb1100. It has taken time and right up untill I had the money in the bank there were lots of bikes for sale here in Australia then, bugger all. I sure felt like the Gods were being a bit unfair untill a Wednesday night 2 weeks ago I checked gumtree and BOOM! there was a 2011 cb1100 for sale as new. I got on the phone and he lived over the boarder, already had one himself and had purchased the bike as a spare of the moment thing, trailered it home and put it in the shed. he was one of the nicest blokes I have met and it had never been riden. Drove to his place, we agreed on a price, shook hands on the deal, no deposite just an agreement, as it should be. A week later on Saturday I turned up with the folding stuff, he had a new battery for me, a seat cover, a bike cover and a new helmit he wasn't using. Loaded it onto the trailer, got it home. Sunday popped in the new battery and up came .5Klm, I couldn't believe it. did some checks, hit the GO button and it purred into life.
This is how I got here, now let the adventure begin

  New owner, exact model desination
Posted by: zippooriginal_imp - 07-27-2016, 05:55 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (9)

I am the proud owner of a NEW 2014 Black CB1100. I am a bit confused. I was led to believe I have a CB1100E. The owners manual I received with the bike is labeled a CB1100A and CB1100AS.
I want to order mods for my bike, but I need to know the exact model I have to get the correct parts.
Can anyone fill me in???
I want to get a soft saddlebag support, plus a rear tail rack, and finally a the Comet 2 fairing. From what I've found the rear tail rack and the saddlebag support I want are Honda OEM parts. How can I best order them?
Can't wait to get my bike set up to make a trip from New Mexico to PA.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

  Puig Windscreen compatibility question
Posted by: dsinned_imp - 07-27-2016, 07:14 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (18)

I am thinking about getting the Puig 4620N Black Naked Universal Windshield for my bike. However, one online review I read said fitment is too tight around the instruments pods due to changes Honda made to the 2014 CB1100 design. I know the instrument panel is different, which I really like, especially the gear position indicator, but does anyone know if compatibility with this low cost, Puig w/s has been compromised?

Considering custom paint job. Anyone have one?
Posted by: Rebel73_imp - 07-27-2016, 04:40 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (11)

So I had a small oopsie this weekend and ended up with a bad scratch on my RC1 fairing. I contacted the local custom moto paint guy to fix it and he came back with an offer to do a full custom job on the whole bike for $800, although I'm sure I could talk him down a bit. A new RC1 is almost $400 so a full paint job for $800 sounds pretty good to me.

I hadn't really thought about it but that would certainly make my CB even more unique. Here is a rough sketch of his idea. I'm kinda diggin it!

Just when I think there's not much else I can do to my CB, I run across these and really dug the look so I pulled the trigger. It never ends!
