Got my CB less than a month ago and put over 1k miles in 9 days of owning it. I decided to celebrate with a retro-ish night shoot! Night shooting presents its own problems, but I like how this one came out! If ya'll like it, I'll make another mock Honda ad for it.

A day on a Harley... In Hawaii
Posted by: Jaychaynes_imp - 07-20-2016, 01:46 PM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (7)

I'm currently in Maui interviewing and networking with hopes of moving back asap. A friend had an extra bike so we went on a ride. I love and miss Maui like crazy, but being on a motorcycle there for the first time makes me want to move back even more.

We went upcountry and through the valley for some great twists and sights. About an 8000ft climb up from the valley preluded an amazing ocean view cruise down the north side.

The Harley was fun. 2015 forty-eight 1200. Handled much better than I had anticipated. It was obviously loud, but not too bad. Comfy stance, but I missed the standard seating position of my CB. The only gear available was a skull-bucket helmet, leaving me with no gloves and no jacket, but it was a safe ride. Being on the Harley kinda made me feel like a bad A. The stance, the noise, the fact that it was a Harley. I can see why people love them.

I did recently find out that when we ship our belongings in a container, it's allowed that we put the CB in there, saving a lot of shipping cost!

Highly recommend renting a bike in Maui!!

2 Years without an Oil Change
Posted by: Bighonda14_imp - 07-20-2016, 08:23 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (39)

I spotted an available DLX that has under 600 miles on it, was purchased about 2 years ago, and has not yet had its initial oil change or any other service done to it. It's battery is on a charger and there is stabilizer in the gas tank and the owner takes it on a brief ride or runs the motor for a bit about once a month.

Would that issue -- a bike of that age and mileage that has never had an oil change -- be a concern for you if you were considering purchasing it?

Thanks for any thoughts.

How to cuss up - broken bolt gearbox cover
Posted by: Riko_imp - 07-20-2016, 05:29 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (18)

Okay, here goes my cuss up moment

I wanted to clean the inside of the gearbox cover and after doing this I wanted to tighten the 4 bolts....

I misread my SERVICE MANUAL Blush and use a torque settinng of 54NM (wich is actually for the big bolt for the chain) although the service manual did not specify a torque setting for those 4 bolts.

The pictures so you know where I'm at: (click to enlarge)

My bike is still in waranty but I doubt the dealer would do this for free (wich I would not blame him if I have to pay for my own stupidity) IF there is any method of unscrewing the head thats still in there? HuhUndecided

FYI, the 3 other bolts can be used, although 2 of them were almost at the point of breaking too, as you can see on the picture, there is a narrow section you can see on 2 bolts.

Main concern, I want that freaking bolt out! Dodgy

Thx everybody for any input.

  Suzuki's Answer to the TW200
Posted by: redbirds_imp - 07-20-2016, 01:08 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (26)

Suzuki's new Van-Van has nearly identical specs to the Yamaha TW200. At $4600 I think it and the Yamaha are over priced. The seat on the Suzuki looks comfy compared to the Yamaha.

I’m curious to see if anyone had installed the Dimotiv Engine Guard (pn: DI-EG-H0-02-P)? If yes how was the installation? … and I like see some pictures (better than Dimotiv web site).

Question for those that ride without helmets
Posted by: quail_imp - 07-19-2016, 03:07 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (24)

When your running 60+ and that big fat Bumblebee or June bug slams you in the forehead, do you ever think a helmet may have made that experience just a tad better?

I live in PA and yes I have ridden without a helmet. No it does not make me enjoy the ride any more than when I have my full face helmet on. Just me. I like that bubble my head is living in when I ride. Plus if I crash people can say "Oh yea I saw him before".

  Looking for a DLX?
Posted by: Bighonda14_imp - 07-19-2016, 11:40 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (30)

On eBay I just spotted an immaculate DLX at a dealer in FL. 2,400 miles, looks almost new. If I was still looking I'd give them a call.

I agree with the suggestion of making a new section of the forum entitled Looking for a DLX.
