I had the pleasure of riding with cooldrum, Jonz, husky385, husky385's nephew and pdedse today. Jonz, cooldrum, husky385 and his nephew met up with me at a local coffee shop for a quick jolt of caffeine and then we headed east where we met up with pdedse. Our timing was perfect as pdedse was pulling in to the designated meeting spot at the exact same time as the rest of us. Then we headed out from Troutdale on the historic Columbia River Gorge highway. The historic highway is a two lane road that can get a bit congested, but it rewards the rider with some wonderful scenery.

Our first stop was at the viewpoint overlooking Crown Point and the Gorge.

We had a nice group of beautiful bikes: five CB1100s and one nifty Ducati.



The guys let me follow them from the viewpoint on down the road a ways so I could capture some video of everyone riding. Here are a couple of images from the video.





After finishing up with the historic highway, we hopped back on I-84 and made our way to Hood River where we fueled up. Then we headed south on Highway 35 through the fruit orchards on the east side of Mt. Hood. We stopped in Parkdale for some lunch.



Then it was time to hop back on the bikes and get back on the road.



We made our way south until Highway 26 and then we headed back west towards Portland. We managed to catch some backroads before arriving in Portland. It's a really nice ride until you come across a truck hauling a trailer with a huge hot tub aboard. But the driver was kind enough to stop and let us ride on by. pdedse spit off to head back home shortly afterwards and the rest of us continued on into Portland before husky385's nephew had to make his way home.

Jonz, husky385, cooldrum and myself finished up the day at the coffee shop where were started off.



All in all it was a great time. I was a reluctant ride leader, but it went okay. No one got lost at least, lol. A couple of times I got so busy keeping up with what everyone else was doing that I forgot to cinch down the strap on my helmet so everyone had to pull over along with me so that I could correct the situation, but no one gave me a hard time (thanks guys). The weather couldn't have been more perfect. It started off a bit overcast and cool but the sun came out soon enough and the temps stayed in the 70s.

It was a pleasure meeting all of you guys and hopefully we'll get together to ride again soon. I'll add some videos to this thread after I've had a chance to do some editing and post them up.

I rarely watch TV, let alone a seasonal show. One of the shows I did make an exception for was "Hell on Wheels" (a chronological depiction of the building of the Trans Continental Railroad). I'm a sucker for a good western, especially one were historic lever actions figure prominently. An added attraction for me is the original spur of the TCRR runs less than a mile from my house and the Golden Spike historical site at Promontory Point is approx. 60 miles or so away from my front door. I've been following the protagonist Cullen Bohannon for over half a decade now on this journey and it all comes to an end tonight. I'll be sitting in my recliner with a good bourbon when the show kicks off.

Plan for tomorrow is to ride the CB 1100 with my daughter and her boyfriend on their bikes out to Promontory Point and visit the site where the final spike was driven. Will add a sense of finality to a show I really became attached to. Gonna be a scorcher out there with no clouds in sight in what is basically elevated desert and some salt flats. Will post up a pic when I get back.

The original Honda rear rack is flat, not much above the seat, other are higher witch does not look good for me.

The lockable top case is great when riding alone, things are save inside
when i left the bike alone for shopping or sightseeing.

What is the correct Honda P/N for a new replacement oil filter? I just checked the filter that came with the bike and could not find a P/N on it.

Amazon has one (P/N: 15410-MFJ-D01) that looks just like the one on my bike, but the list of Honda models it fits does not include the CB1100.

KN's P/N "204" also appears to be interchangeable on a CB1100. Anybody know for sure?

Last Sunday when I took Fran's Street Twin to Savannah I was caught in one of those southeast showers that only last 3 minutes but causes flash flooding. As the plan was to ride for just 2 hours, I left the house most unprepared for those kind of weather conditions. Although ATGATT, nothing I was wearing was waterproof.

My kit tail bag was dry and comfy attached to my CB, which was back in my garage and in the tail bag were my mesh jacket's waterproof liner and my Frogg Toggs pants. Not that any of those would've done me much good as the downpour, although pretty violent, was very brief. In a couple of minutes my Draggin jeans were soaked and triple their weight. As I rode on in search of an exit off of I-95, I was thinking that maybe for those trips into the unknown I should get a pair of waterproof riding pants.

That was a lot of typing to ask a couple questions about pants...

What's your experience with waterproof riding pants? Have you found the magical combination of waterproof and not oven hot? What do you have? Do tell...

Hi all. I am asking for some feedback from as many members as possible, please. My 2014 Dlx suffers from an intermittent fast (1,500 RPM) to slow (500 RPM/stalling) idle condition. This condition has been discussed by multiple members of this forum and I am seeking some feedback to help in my diagnosis. I suspect the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) is the root cause of my problem, but I am not convinced. The Honda service manual describes a quick and easy test that I am asking members to perform, and to then post their results. My bike has never passed this test (described below), but whether it passes or not it may or may not run perfectly (right now it is running perfectly). Here's the test: With the engine stop switch (on RH handlebar) in the on position, turn the ignition key on while listening for the IACV step motor to cycle. The IACV is located on the RH side of the bike, between the outer-most throttle body and the cylinder. Can you please perform this test and let me know if you can hear a step motor cycling momentarily? I have never heard a sound (the service manual says I should), but most of the time my bike runs perfectly regardless. Your feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Took the cb out today. ran a few errands. I knew it was hot but I saw several digital thermometers reading 100 degrees. The bike did great. I did not act up or show anything different than usual. I did get hot myself, at lights. Did not notice any more heat coming off motor, than usual. These things are great. I wish everything else were built as well as these bikes.
