Are my rear turn signals stock?
Posted by: postoak_imp - 08-02-2016, 01:54 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

I posted a pic of my bike and someone asked me about the "mini" rear turn signals. I thought they were stock but when I went and looked at google images of 2013 CB1100s, they do look smaller.

Are these aftermarket, or what?

Mailing it out today. My brain has been totally absent. I just don't want to get a reputation for being dishonest on the forum.

@vfrpaul98 my bad. big time.

stupid question perhaps - oil change before/after valve check?
Posted by: Riko_imp - 08-01-2016, 08:22 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (12)

Hi all!

Since I got the bike in mid December with 2001km I now have 12.197 km on the clock Banana

Manual says I have to bring the bike in at 12.000km for a big maintenance, including the sometimes criticized valve clearance check.

There are a few things I wanna do myself, such as cleaning and adjusting my chain, and doing the periodical oil and oil filter change.

Now I started to wonder, does it matter for the dealer when he does all other things the maintenance requires if I already did the oil and oil filter change?
Or should I do the oil/oil filter change after he has done his thing on the bike?

I know there are generaly a lot of people who do an oil and oil filter change themselves and leave the pro stuff to a pro Smile

I haven't had the chance to contact my dealer yet, since he is on holiday.

Thx for the input.

  How to lower your CB1100
Posted by: modmaster_imp - 08-01-2016, 12:43 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (21)

I hope I am not breaking any protocols by doing this in the modifications board first. I have a like brand new (less than 400 miles) set of rear shocks from my 2013 Triumph Bonneville that I used on my 2013 CB1100 to lower it one inch. They have the correct size shock bushings in them so that they just bolt on in place of the original Honda shocks. The CB rode great with them on and it will really help those who are on the short side. They are all chrome and look just like the OEM Honda shocks.
I have them for sale in the classified section of the forum. Here is a pic of them on the bike.

How many of you guys on the CB1100forum have tried to kill the bug on your ipad beside arkoas name? I did and it took me to his contact info. SO I laughed, took it over to show my wife and she goes " eww, a bug" then she tried to kill it too.

Very clever, have no idea how you did that.

Best way to drain fuel tank?
Posted by: Rebel73_imp - 08-01-2016, 04:33 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (10)

So I've decided to pull the trigger on a custom paint job so I need to pull off the gas tank. Other than riding around til the gas is all used up, what's the best way to drain it out?

  Help? Tripmeters won't reset
Posted by: BayAreaRick_imp - 08-01-2016, 12:25 AM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (14)

On my very new (to me) 2014 DLX I'm having a problem resetting the A/B Tripmeters. I know both left/right buttons work as I was able to reset the clock using both buttons. All other electronics on the multi-function display appear to work - indicator lights, clock, fuel, odometer, A/B Tripmeters (just can't reset them).

Has anyone else had this problem? What was the resolution (please)?

  First time Down "Ouch"
Posted by: JF Coastal_imp - 07-31-2016, 11:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (30)

So, Last tuesday afternoon I was riding my CB1100 around town and when I was cautiously going through and intersection some "Jack" turned left right in front of me. I had two option break hard / hit car and possibly do flips down the road. Second option is what I chose Quick turn left while breaking sliding out and missing car completely. It's amazing how many things go through your mind when sliding across the concrete.

Luckily the bike and I are fine. For me, i have road rash all up and down the left side. Treating some of them as burn injuries. Left hip has hemotoma which swelled out pretty dramatically. Had xrays done. No broken bones. Meeting with Orthopedic tomorrow afternoon. to confirm. Many sleepless nights.

Bike needs engine guard replaced. one engine cover. left side turn signals / grip / left mirror. These bikes are tanks, I thought surely it would be in worse condition after sliding 30 yards at 30 mph give or take.

Be careful out there.

While trying to install a windscreen the threads in the light housing (left side facing the bike) appear to have moved.. they are no longer visible in the housing.. What did I do? Thoughts?
