I ordered this, and it arrived today.. It looks like it is going to be almost vertical instead of swept back.. Is that normal fitment, or is this the wrong screen?
also there is a third, slightly longer mounting screw shown in the installation guide that there is no receiving hole for on my CB..

So, my Saddleman tail bag, which I love, seems to fit very nicely on my CB1100, BUT my tankbag, which was a strap-on (heh) model from my Buell, does not translate to the Honda. Thus, I am looking for a tank bag. Would love to hear what folks here like to use. I like a medium sized bag. Kind of a weekender type, not the RTW size. If you have any picts, that would be awesome. I'd like to pretend looks don't matter, but with this bike, I hate to spoil the lines

This is the only photo left after the fire of my first street bike a 1972 CB750.
Some wild times on that bike. Once on the freeway going North around 70 MPH between Eugene and Portland I hit a Robin right at face level. If not for the windshield on that fairing I don't even want to speculate.

A really stupid stunt right after a July 4th parade a friend (siting on a half box of beer) and I wheeled through Port Orford OR on that bike. Later that day before the fire works about five miles north of town I passed a state police car, I was going just a tad over the speed limit, parked at an old restaurant. Needless to say I romped on it. I don't know if he gave chase or not, I never saw him in the mirrors. Things we do when we are young.

Last night I was out riding. Two lane road, running between 55 and 60. I spot a whitetail fawn on the opposite side of the road facing away looking back over it's shoulder. As I approach it takes off running away from me and away from the road. All of a sudden it loops, turns hard right and comes running across the road right in front of me. I hit the brakes as hard as I have hit any brakes and managed to miss the critter by maybe 3 feet. Not particularly a big deal because if you ride enough things like this happen, critters, cars pulling out of side streets, people backing out of drives, someone pulling a wide turn out of a parking lot into your lane. These are common occurances. Having lots of experience and faith in your ability to handle hard braking situations keeps you alive. So after a " dang, that was close, stupid deer" exclamation in my head it didn't bother me any more. Continue the ride at the previous pace.

Except... A mile or two up the road I thought hey, I didn't feel the ABS didn't kick in.(the DLX has ABS). It was a full on panic stop, but I never felt the ABS cycle. This is the second time that it has happened to me. I reported on the last event last year, when I came around a curve to find a stopped school bus with 3 cars stopped behind it, and I had to slam them on. Foot on the pedal, ankle aiming down, 4 fingers on the brake lever squeezing that baby for all I was worth. Luckily I got stopped in time. Either it is very transparent in practice or it just didnt kick in. I can't imagine how hard you would have to apply the brakes to make it cycle.

The only other explanation I can come up with is that I have a butt load of skill and have the ability to brake just up to the point of the ABS kicking in. Maximum braking up to the point of wheel lock up without going over the edge. Don't know that I can claim possessing that amount of skill.

Question is, has anyone else braked hard enough to make their ABS kick in? Could you feel it? What did it feel like? Conversely has anyone else braked extremely hard and felt their ABS should have kicked in but didn't feel it?

I installed the Samurai Slip on Mufflers on my DLX today. Excellent fit and craftsmanship and at 89,000 Yen, a good price too. As always it was a pleasure doing business with Mr. T. The order arrived fast and the slip-ons were well packed.

The included instructructions were in good English, although sorta unnecessary. They mainly made reference to using the Honda Service Manual, which, thanks to a forum member, arrived the same day the slip-ons did. The manual helped with getting the heat shields off and torque specs. I did make the mistake of removing the grommeted screw from the heat shield, which was harder to get back on than an RLET !

I had committed to buy a nice 2013 standard from a local guy, but at the last moment I backed out of the deal. I wanted a Deluxe, specifically for the ABS but also those dual pipes, and of course, a 6-speed is nice too. Thanks to a friend who keeps up with these things along with some feedback from the nice folks on this site, I found the bike (from a board member) and we made a deal on Tuesday. Part of the deal was that he deliver it from Ohio to me in NC, and he arrived here Friday afternoon. There were a few minor issues, which we quickly resolved, and now the bike is residing quietly and we hope, happily, in my garage. John was a great guy to deal with and made the deal very easy. Then yesterday I got a PM from Rick (also in Ohio) who offered to help me in any way with the sale. Wow! That was just super nice of him to offer. I didn't need to take him up on it, since the bike was delivered, but that's the kind of camaraderie that makes this hobby such a great thing. It's the people.

Thank you too to all of the board members who helped me get over my hesitation to buy this thing. I love it.

I found this bracket while doing my own custom relocation. It would require two holes to be drilled to bolt to the fender. I have not used it myself but thought someone else may like it.

If you've been paying attention to the news, you know how important dash cameras have been to making the world more safe and more just (and more entertaining). I've been using a GoPro to protect myself, but I really wanted a "black box" system that begins recording as soon as I turn on the bike and turns off when the bike turns off. Now that I've got an accessory port (thanks InHouseBob!), I've set one up.
