Saturday early I ran down to the Salt Lake City Triumph/BMW/Ducati dealer and took a look around. Ducati is making absolutely nothing that interests me. styling is too far off the map for me. BMW's R9T continues to interest me. Again, from the headlamp to the back of the seat the bike appears solidly 60-ish..beyond that were back to the 2010+ sport bike insect look. Of the Three versions they make...the bone stock Aircraft grey tanked version appeals the most to me.

Triumph's Bobber is just a cool little machine. Actually, diminutive may be a better descriptor. The fit and finish exudes quality. I didn't ride it but fired it up. Smooth running motor, exhaust is not oppressive. Very cool how the instrument cluster can be adjusted for tilt. I REALLY liked that feature.

I also checked out the Café version of the Street Twin. 900cc with nicely styled fairing, seat cowl and twin exhaust. If they made it in red and silver I might have bit down hard on the hook.

When the daughters boyfriend laid my CB1100 down on black ice in Tin Cup Canyon, Wy last November during Veterans Day weekend he did some very minor damage. One thing was the foot brake lever was bent. So, after I came home from the Triumph dealer I pulled it off yesterday and surprisingly there was more to it than I thought. After disconnecting springs and some hosing I had the lever free and took it to the anvil and pounded it back straight with a hard rubber mallet. Looks almost factory new now. Also was going to reset the handle bars because I thought they tweaked a little in the mounts and found two of the four allen bolts loose (one on each side). Glad I checked that.

One other thing I need to do is order a handlebar brake lever. When he laid it down on its right side the brake lever end ground down about 25% on the little ball the RLETS cover. I cut that off with about 2 inches of lever, smoothed it off with a bench grinder and drilled it out for a chain. It's now his key fob. Gave it to him as a Christmas Gift to remind him of his first (and hopefully last) bike wreck.

After that I cleaned the bike up pretty good. Put a coat of wax on the tank, buffed out the muffler and waxed the chain. I need to order a Pilot Road 3 for the front this week from Revzilla and have it mounted maybe next week. Also need to knock out an oil change and the CB will be ready for the season. The Harbor Freight lift continues to endear itself to me every time I put a bike on it to clean or do maint. Man is it nice to have the bike at waist level!

Spoked wheels are nice, though they stuck with the 18"ers.

I haven't even taken delivery of my 2014 standard CB1100 .... any color I wanted as long as it was black. Soon as the weather breaks, she comes home.

In the meantime, I've meditated over the all black color scheme. Initially, I thought, 'well the price is right, though I don't like all black.'

However, the more I look at pics of the all black 2014, I'm beginning to think '.... not so bad.... .'

Honda has done a nice job on the all black bike, IMHO .... just enough shiny stuff to set off various areas.

This'll be a real switch from BMW and Moto Guzzi twins, but I'm looking forward to it. And the Beemer and Guzzi are still in the stable, so I can switch from 4 cylinder smooth to that sweet 2 cylinder feel of flat and v twin Euro bikes.

It's with a heavy heart and some sad feelings that I wanted to announce that I have moved on from the beloved CB1100. Two days ago I decided to trade in my CB1100 for a new bike. I have always been the type to not stay attached to things for too long except for my wife, lol. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my CB1100, I just grew out of the style and performance of the bike. I have always liked new stuff and new technology. I can't help myself sometimes, I see new bikes come out and I want to ride everything. Maybe I should stay off the Internet, lol. I have really enjoyed all the people on this forum. The guys are awesome, the moderators are great and helpful. This is such a great group that is miles above the rest. There has seemed to be a mass exodus of current CB owners but this just means that there will be new blood with new owners of previous owned bikes plus the 2017 is coming out soon. That should get the forum kicking with all sorts of new threads I'm sure. I know past owners have left with exit interviews picking the bike apart. That is not my style. With any bike you give some and take some, nothing is perfect for anyone. This bike suited me well for over two years and I find no fault for what it is other than I personally wanted something different for this point in my life. I will spend years telling people about when I used to own one of them and I will talk the ears off any CB1100 owner I run into in the future. I really will miss this group even though I will check in on occasion to see what's up. Once again thank you all so much and a big shout out to the Ferret and Guth. For those of you wondering what I moved onto, here it is. A 2016 Yamaha XSR900.

I'm looking for a new helmet. I ride my CB1100 without any form of windshield so wind noise and turbulence are pretty big issues.

I'm looking at the Shoei GT Air (with the cool integrated sun shield), and their relatively new X 14.

The X14 has awesome aerodynamics, although it's designed for a bit more forward lean than we get with our bikes. I'm not to worried about his, because it has 4 tilt adjustment points which should make it easily workable. I am a little concerned about noise and ventilation, though.

The GT-Air looks great and has the sun shield, but I'm concerned about noise and turbulence. Ventilation looks good.

So, my questions are: Does anyone own an X 14 or GT- Air and what are their thoughts on noise, aerodynamics and ventilation?

Enjoyed many good years on this site and learned much from good people. But the time has come for me to let the beloved CB go. In doing so , I have listed many accessories in the Classifieds/For Sale forum. Items such as a Staintune exhaust, Samurider hard case panniers, as well as other items. So ride safely and ride long.

The "priming" noise my fuel pump has always made with key on during the gauge sweep has changed, after riding a ways, to a louder and more shrill noise when restarting a warm engine after, say, a fuel stop. If I go out in the garage and try it cold, it's normal. Any ideas? I have about 3000 miles on it.
It doesn't seem to continue after startup that I can hear, anyway. I plan to keep riding and just see what happens, especially if nobody else has noticed this. Thanks

I'm riding my CB over to Daytona from St. Petersburg Saturday morning, 3/18; returning Sunday afternoon. Is anyone else planning on going next weekend?

Saw the new CB1100 at the Honda tent at Daytona Bike Week. Did not expect to like it after reading all the posts on this forum but I have to say I REALLY DO like it. The new seamless tank is WIDER than on my 2014 standard. There was a 2014(?) black standard right next to the new one and the differences were striking. The knee indentations are deeper, the mufflers are shorter, much more chrome.

It loses some of the retro look, but the overall effect is stunning!

MSRP is $12,199 and destination charge is $380. Don't expect much discounting, at least not initially, and, of course, dealer setup charges and "opportunistic markup" will vary dealer to dealer...
