  PRIVATE MECHANIC
Posted by: physiolee_imp - 02-27-2017, 02:36 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (22)

Hi,
I'm from Long beach,90805. quiet new to this forum. Wondering any of you know any private mechanic for CB1100. I gotta get my 8000 mile service done. Bike needs valve adjustment and the honda showroom is quoting 1000 bucks . over 900 just for labor. That's crazy.
Any help would be appreciated.

Replacement Tank for my '14 DLX
Posted by: Barkingshins_imp - 02-27-2017, 02:13 PM - Forum: Mechanical & Technical - Replies (22)

Here's the situation...

My very sweet but occasionally spatially-challenged wife tipped over a bunch of gardening tools in the garage last Fall and the tank of my DLX took the brunt of it. Sad

There are no dents, but that oh so beautiful paint job now has some very obvious scars. I've done a little research on paint repair in the area and, as weird as this seems to me, it's starting to look like the costs of having the paint professionally repaired could be comparable to the costs of simply replacing it with a new tank.

There are several online Honda part suppliers that claim to have a direct replacement for the DLX's tank but I want to be sure before I order.

The OEM part number for the tank seems to be 17520-MGC-N20ZA. Does anyone on this board have any experience with this part? Will it come in the same Candy Red as my original?

Here's a link to one such supplier's part if it helps: http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/deta...a/b3262747

What do you guys think? Should I go for it?

-Brian
Here's another link to the same part number from a different supplier. Curiously, the description seems to indicate that the color is "Graphite Black". How that can be a replacement for a '14 DLX tank? The DLX wasn't available in that color?!

  Face shield tinting recommendation
Posted by: CB4ME_imp - 02-26-2017, 10:47 AM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (9)

Just before getting my new CB500F I purchased a closeout helmet from Revzilla, not realizing that tinted face shields for this helmet were no longer offered. I ordered some tinted film online but when the package arrived, this goofy looking, undersized, worthless item was in the box. I had to laugh.

Does anyone have a recommendation on where I can purchase a larger piece of tinted film that can cover most or all the face shield opening?

  Motorcycle Rental Insurance Alternatives
Posted by: Stichill - 02-26-2017, 12:58 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (13)

I'm renting a bike from EagleRider in Las Vegas, Nevada for a 4-day ride through and around Death Valley California.

The insurance offered by EagleRider is fairly expensive per day and comes with pretty high deductibles to boot.

My personal motorcycle policy and my credit cards do not cover insurance for motorcycle rental. So for the moment it looks like I'll have to fork over to EagleRider.

I was wondering if anyone has found worthwhile third-party alternatives in the US to cover bike rentals?

I was thinking perhaps some visitors to the US from other countries face a similar challenge.

Picked up a 2017 motorcycle brochure from my local Honda dealer.

Half page dedicated to the CB1100.

"... updated for 2017: new slipper clutch, LED headlight, wire wheels, blacked-out engine, new gauges, a cool new seamless fuel tank, and more."

I don't know how to do a poll, but I would be interested to know how many riders here listen to music on the road?
Came up recently in thread on tinnitus.

Just signed the papers tonight on a 2013 Honda CBR250R. We pick it up after they install a lowering link and shorter kickstand.
