  Rear axle torque question.
Posted by: jdvalero_imp - 03-20-2017, 02:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (10)

I'm adjusting my chain slack and I am in need of torque spec for rear axle torque.
I read in one thread that it was 65 ft lbs and in a couple other that it was 83ft lbs.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

  Helmet Lock
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 03-19-2017, 09:27 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (6)

Ferret, I seem to remember that you have a rather nifty helmet lock attached to your licence plate bolt. Who makes it and where can I buy it? I just purchased a new Shoei Neotech helmet, replacing an old Multitech, and I'm having the dangest time getting it on the Hondas lock. I didn't have this problem with the old helmet... Appreciate the help.

  1972 Honda CB750
Posted by: ride4now_imp - 03-19-2017, 11:48 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (5)

Hey guys, I saw this bike briefly today in Daytona. It's a 1972 CB750 and the owner told me it has over 200,000 miles on it. He's owned it since new. I thought it looked pretty good and when he kicked it, it fired up in one kick. And it sounded terrific when he rode off.

  Lots of waving
Posted by: LongRanger_imp - 03-19-2017, 08:44 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (14)

We were in the 80's this weekend and I was able to get all four bikes on the road, totaling about 500 miles between them. My final ride this afternoon, however, left me the most impressed. On a favorite curvy mountain loop that's popular among local motorcyclists, I found myself behind two noisy, scrappy-looking HD's. Doo-rags, rat tails, you know the look. But on this particular twisty road, they were riding really well and it was all I could do to keep them in sight. What impressed me most, however, was watching them wave at every single oncoming motorcycle, whether it was a KLR, Goldwing, BMW, UJM, or another HD. I didn't expect to see that and it gave me a renewed sense of the brotherhood we all share, regardless of what we ride or how we want to be perceived. Good stuff.

Better than a big Green X ... by a bunch
Posted by: the Ferret - 03-19-2017, 05:48 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (9)

On my daily ride calendar, I record which bike I rode, how many miles I rode, how many days of the month I've ridden, how many days of the year I've ridden and how many miles total for the year I've ridden. If I don't get to ride I put a big green X (my wife says it should be red). I hate putting down green X's.

Friday I watched two of my grandchildren from 7:30 until 5, and then their parents ended up staying for dinner. Plus it was cold and sprinkling a wintry mix all day. So I had to write down a big green X. The only one this month so far.

On today's ride I took some roads I hadn't ridden in awhile. Got in 84 miles. Lots of left and right curves, zero traffic, and on the way back home I thought " Man, this sure beats the heck out of a big green X."
