I like the CB but I also miss having a fairing.

I'm leaning toward getting another full fairing bike. I had an 83 G.W. prior to the CB.

While it wasn't the most modern of bikes I didn't realize how much I like a fairing until I rode the CB on a cold day last spring. Looking to change it up and maybe go for a BMW.

The RT comes to mind. Heated grips, ABS, shaft drive, etc. Higher elec. output - 700 watts for heated gear. More HP.

The only thing that concerns me is the maintenance cost of owning a BMW. If something goes awry i.e. final drive or brake issue - KaChing!
The same can probably be said for Honda but maybe not as spendy.
That said, I've read more than one glowing review with no issues reported.

I don't mind doin a bit of wrenching but I'm not going to go there with the CB or a BMW - just easy maintenance stuff. So I guess I'll be bringing it to a shop for more complicated things I neither know how to do or want to necessarily learn.

Looking at 2011 ish in the 7-8k or less range.

During today's ride I noticed that my rear tire is down to bare cords. It wasn't that way when I left the house, but midway through the ride, yep, there it was, an inch-wide band of exposed silver running nearly the entire diameter of the tire. The front tire shows almost no wear, but it's extremely cupped. I'll go ahead and replace both tires.

Two questions...

First, what is the most durable tire available for this bike? I'm talking a high-mileage touring tire. I don't care about sticky tires here. I just want the things to last as long as possible.

Now, here's the stupid question. This 2017 CB1100 EX is my first bike with inner tubes. When replacing the tires, should I also always replace the inner tubes, or is this unnecessary?

This seems a poor decision to me. The rider has nothing to do with monitoring tire pressure and a number of unknowns may have caused the underinflation nor does it seem that an underinflated tire would give any advantage.

I have been wanting to make it up to Lassen before the snow flies up there, and finally got a late start yesterday. Got a few pics, but needed to get home by sundown-ish so I will have to redo, probably next year.
North on 99 from Chico the two lane passes through mixed agricultural land and a few small towns to Red Bluff about 45 minutes away. Normally busy but otherwise better than the slab. I went as far into town as the first gas station, then doubled back a half mile to the 36 turn and headed straight into the foothills, rapidly gaining altitude as road rises into dry grass with oak scrub then digger pine that soon turns to thick forest.
Temp went from mid eighties to mid fifties in the 50 minutes or so it took to get to the southern park gate. Traffic went from moderate to sparse. I have tended to shy away from popular attractions because of the traffic and people, and as a result haven't been up there much over the years. In the future I will definitely take advantage of the off season, as it is spectacular.

This is taken from the visitor center parking lot at about 6000 feet. The peak is in the background. The road through the park reaches about 8000' and there is a trail you can climb the last 2000' in just 4.5 miles. I get a little short of breath at that altitude tying my shoes, so I probably won't try that.

I needed to get headed home, so dodged into the gift shop for a Lassen Volcanic National Park Sticker for my top box, next to the Crater Lake one.
Through the park will have to wait for another day. The road is closed in winter at the end of October. I told the lady in the gift shop I had come up through Red Bluff and was planning to head home by going toward Chester/ Lake Almanor and then west on 32 to Chico. She said they call that "the loop". I thought the real loop transits the park, but I guess there is room for more than one loop.
The ride home was just beautiful, GREAT motorcycling and beautiful country.
A little pasture deep in the forest on the way to the 32 turnoff. The new sticker is the green one, not as classic as the Crater Lake one, but OK. Will replace it if they come up with a more attractive one next year.
Met a sidecar rig at the 32 intersection, and soon lost him. Had been holding off on zipping in my jacket liner in the mountains, thank goodness I did or I would have melted the last few miles and wouldn't have wanted to undo it by then.
Check out Mt. Lassen on the internet. Last eruption was 1915. Well worth a full day or more if you get a chance.

Hey guys!

Long time follower, first time poster.

I have a 2010 CB1100 with a PCV, full titanium yoshi exhaust and K&N filter.

The bike seems to be running rich, and is burning too much fuel. I’m getting 150kms to a tank of 98 octane in Australia.

I want to remap the PCV, but can’t find a list of suitable maps.

Could someone please point me in the right direction??

Good info for carbed H-D on Nightrider, but I take exception to one aspect of their suggested carb mod...I would NOT drill the slide.

Since there are so few issues for the CB1100, I am back to posting on the XLForum for carb and electrical issues. With 37,000 members, something usually pops up!

I can't believe they finished this kickstarter. It had a very long rocky road, but these helmets really exist and are being shipped out now. Is anybody considering getting one of these or know somebody that's being shipped one of the first batch? I would be totally interested to know how it works and feels.

With things like Heads up display for all your Tach, turn by turn navigation, a Rear view camera, voice control, phone connectivity, ect, This thing seems like it has everything a commuter could want. my only worry is that it only mentions DOT certification, So I don't know if it has any of the higher, more practical certifications, because having a DOT cert alone is kind of a joke.

Probably old hat to the guys and gals who've been riding the CB1100 since 2013.

However, I'm one of those who purchased a new leftover 2014 in 2017, and am just beginning to enjoy the feel of this lovely machine.

As most of you know, I had issues with the stiffness of the OEM suspension. However, after considerable tweaking of the front fork (now with RaceTech valving and rear suspension by Ikon with lighter springs) I can enjoy the feel of the engine, with good torque throughout the rpm range, more than adequate brakes, light controls, and a chassis that handles far better and easier than I would have suspected.
