  VTX 1800
Posted by: RLS_imp - 10-25-2018, 02:37 AM - Forum: Other Bikes - Replies (7)

Anybody have now or owned a VTX 1800? I have seen a nice 2006 and 2008 and I am tempted to buy one to compliment my CB. Any comments would be welcome regarding performance, ease of maintenance, comfort, etc.

What Motorcycle news sites do you guys look at?
Posted by: iamlegend21087_imp - 10-24-2018, 12:49 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (12)

Hey All!

I was just wondering if anyone had some good general motorcycle news/tips/gear whatever sites they look at. I always check out Rideapart.com but was wondering what else you guys are checking out.

Thanks!

Adam

Would You Buy A New Bike If The Dealership Was Four Hours Distance?
Posted by: Mandrau_imp - 10-24-2018, 02:23 AM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (19)

I am considering getting a new ride and have tended to only consider bikes with a Dealership in Northern Ontario. However that limits the choice to Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Harley Davidson. I almost pulled the trigger recently on a 2018 Sport Glide but stepped back after reading of issues with the new Milwaukee Eight engines, deciding instead to wait for the 2019 models. In the meantime Indian has caught my attention but the nearest dealership is four hoiurs away in southern Ontario. That's also where the nearest Triumph and BMW dealerships are as well.

I have had such a good experience with the CB1100 that I think whoever said on this forum that the CB1100 can spoil you for other bikes might be right on. So why not just keep riding the CB1100 you might ask? Maybe it's a case of wander lust but I would like to try the cruiser/bagger experience. If I was younger I could easily wait and see what comes along but at this point every riding season is precious and I want to make the most of them while I can.

Got the coming winter to dream on this...

  That was quick

I decided to sell (trade) my 2017 cb1100ex. I really like the bike and frankly like this forum more than many others I follow. Truly a good group here. While I won’t be riding the CB, this bike was important to me as it reminded me why I rode in the first place - see new places, connect with old friends, spend more time with my wife. All good. While I have not been an active poster I have been an avid reader and I have learned a great deal from this group. Thank you and take care.

Moving foot pegs and controls forward 2+"
Posted by: RoyP_imp - 10-23-2018, 12:18 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (14)

Has anyone moved the foot pegs, gear and brake controls forward? I have leg circulation problems and need to reduce the knee bend. I have a 2014 CB1100 DLX. I can see adjustable foot pegs (25mm to 40mm) on line but no mods or kits to extend the brake and gear shift levers forward. Any feedback would be appreciated.

  Aerostitch wallet
Posted by: the Ferret - 10-23-2018, 10:18 AM - Forum: Riding Gear - Replies (48)

Aerostitch is a pretty big name in the MC world, especially with touring and ADV guys. I have a buddy that swears by Aerostitch gear. It's a little pricey for my blood, but my son got a wallet from them that he showed me on the Men's Fall Trip and seeing as how my old wallet, a cordura Bagman wallet (brand of soft motorcycle gear designed by Craig Vetter from the 70's lol) was getting long in the tooth, I ordered one up for myself. Awfully nice wallet.

My son has the nylon version. I ordered the leather version (turns out only the outside is leather, the inside is nylon just like my son's.) Everything I thought wouldn't fit from my old wallet fits with ease. The only thing is, it' so thin I keep feeling my rear pocket to see if it's still there.

No more sitting on a 1" thick lump on one side.

  Django's on the road again
Posted by: Django - 10-23-2018, 03:53 AM - Forum: Seat Time - Replies (11)

After fixing the damages from the recent drop, today I was out for my first ride: YEAH!

Todays weather was mild at 14°C and I went out for a 109 km loop along the Swabian Alb. It was dry and it was fun to stir up all the leaves on the road by rushing thru with a fast iron steed.

Feels good, to be on the road again.

Headlight Modulator On a 2017 EX?
Posted by: Paris_imp - 10-22-2018, 02:09 PM - Forum: Accessories/Modifications - Replies (2)

Has anyone installed a headlight modulator on a 2017 EX? The LED headlight seems to be a proprietary multi-LED unit. I’m looking at the wiring diagram and there appear to be two possible + wires for the low beams, one H/L low (BAT in), and the other PO/L (BAT in). I’m not sure which one I would tap the modulator into. Of course, I’d love to find a plug and play unit instead.

  Why we crash
Posted by: Roper_imp - 10-22-2018, 12:40 PM - Forum: Motorcycling - General - Replies (12)

The Virginia Tech report is a couple of years old. You may have already read it. Not sure why it just popped up in my news feed. Revzilla's review is pretty good.

"Here’s the surprise, however. What’s the most common scenario? Riders hitting (or nearly hitting) another vehicle from behind. ... We’re not keeping our eyes up and looking far down the road, to see the developing situation that is going to cause the driver in front of us to slam on his brakes, or to spot the hunk of exploded truck tire lying in our lane. Those things are taking us by surprise and we’re not giving ourselves enough time to react."

Spotted on Sacramento Craigslist posted today. $650 in sketchy shape.
Not mine, no connection, just passing it on to someone with more ambition or time.
